We had seen it on Sunday Brunch a few months back and wanted to visit . Tricky to find but so worth it.
Food was amazing. The best we had during our stay in London.
Staff fantastic with a great atmosphere.
My friend and I decided to try this restaurant for lunch one afternoon. It was very quiet inside, we weren’t even sure if it was open at first. We ordered from the set lunch menu, which was good value. Service was reasonably quick, although not terribly friendly. The food was good, very large portions. The toilet facilities downstairs weren’t the best. It was ok for a quick lunchtime visit but I wouldn’t like to go for dinner, I would want better service and atmosphere for the evening.
Mao Chow has now moved around the corner & is called Facing Heaven - located at 1a Bayford St, London E8 3SE.
The tiny restaurant is always busy because word has got around that this is THE best vegan Chinese food in town and a great option for meat eaters like me, because you don't miss the meat AT ALL.
The staff are incredibly friendly, they have orange wine, and the food is absolutely wow.
Don't miss the Hong Kong french toast for dessert because it is to die for.
The style of the place is 80's decor and loud 80's styled music - a definite buzzy party atmosphere and a lot of beautiful people.
This definitely feels special.
Daughter and I had a wonderful meal with great wine and excellent service at Peg last week. Music selection was both bizarre and hilarious, totally inappropriate and far too loud for the small venue. Lovely girl changed it on request but we were baffled by choice (The Specials 😝) put on full blast making our wine glasses vibrate!! Despite the musical faux pas, we thoroughly enjoyed dining at Peg, can highly recommend it and feel the quality and innovative food we were served would be well worthy of a Michelin star. Lovely staff too.
They advertise a ‘Buffet Night’ in a poster on the door. Didn’t even get through the door when a very rude man (the owner?) told me “it’s finished…a long time ago”. I suggested they should take the poster down then, which he started to do. Went round the corner and had a nice curry at the Lavan’s Spice. As I walked back passed on my way home the poster was back in the window!
They are openly LYING to customers advertising a buffet night they don’t actually do! AVOID!!!
