Peg in Hackney

Daughter and I had a wonderful meal with great wine and excellent service at Peg last week. Music selection was both bizarre and hilarious, totally inappropriate and far too loud for the small venue. Lovely girl changed it on request but we were baffled by choice (The Specials 😝) put on full blast making our wine glasses vibrate!! Despite the musical faux pas, we thoroughly enjoyed dining at Peg, can highly recommend it and feel the quality and innovative food we were served would be well worthy of a Michelin star. Lovely staff too.

Grandes platos, me encantó todo lo que salió de la parrilla, especialmente el corazón. Gran selección de vinos, excelente personal, atento y conocedor.

Fuimos para el almuerzo fijo a un precio de 15. Teníamos 3 platos pequeños para comer cada uno y un postre compartido. Es un menú muy ingeniosamente construido. Al principio, cree que los platos son demasiado pequeños y no se llenarán, ¡pero lo deja lleno! Los platos son muy sencillos, como cabría esperar de 15. Sin embargo, la ensalada tenía un aderezo de sésamo sabroso y el curry de invierno de calabaza estaba calentito y abundante. Gran selección de vinos. Ambiente encantador. Irá de nuevo.

Platos interesantes, pero como comensal solitario me sentí un poco aislado con la abundancia de comensales groseros de moda presentes. El personal es bueno, pero hubiera sido agradable sentarse en la cocina para conversar con el obviamente apasionado chef. ¡No está mal, simplemente no es tan bueno como se esperaba!

Vine aquí mientras visitaba Londres por negocios y me las arreglé para tropezar con este lugar y me alegro mucho de haberlo hecho. La comida es absolutamente equisite, como es la lista de vinos. Volveré

We sampled a few things from the menu. The cabbage and sesame salad was surprisingly good and refreshing. I enjoyed the squid but there was nothing else that was wow. It was an ok place. A bit overpriced for lunch.

The really friendly waiter helped us order our wine from the extensive wine list and it was lovely! The food was great, menu is small but varied. A few dishes are real hits (the peas for example, expensive but worth it!) - the chicken was nice but a bit underwhelming.

Not a place for veggies or lovers of carbs. Nose bleed trendy but the staff were nice and attentive enough. We did go pre-Hackney Empire show though, so not very busy. Good neat small selection of wine. Good chicken, no complaints, but nothing that really blew us out of the water. Doesn’t look like it’s been refurbished since it was Legs (I miss you). I’m sure the locals and the reviewers will love it. Time will tell whether it will be here for the long haul.
