I had high hopes for Shoryu Ramen in Shoreditch, but unfortunately, my visit was a major letdown. I ordered the pork gyoza and the signature ramen, and both were deeply disappointing. The pork gyoza was completely tasteless—lacking any depth or seasoning that you'd expect from such a classic dish. Moving on to the signature ramen, I was shocked by how bland it was. The broth, which is supposed to be the heart and soul of a good bowl of ramen, tasted like nothing more than hot water. It lacked the rich, savory flavor I associate with tonkotsu broth. I specifically ordered my noodles with barikata firmness (super hard), but they arrived soft and overcooked, which made the texture quite unpleasant. The onsen egg, which should be creamy and rich, was sadly overcooked as well. To be honest, I've had better ramen from instant packets at home. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for a satisfying bowl of ramen, I suggest avoiding Shoryu Ramen Shoreditch at all costs.

Was left standing by the entrance for 15 minutes after telling them I am waiting to go into the hospital for my cancer treatment. Asked the waitress for a seat because I am unable to stand for extended time but the waitress told us to wait outside. I’ve been here before and the service was never this appalling. I even showed them my medical letters about my stage 4 cancer and I can honestly say my chemotherapy was smoother and more relaxing than standing and begging ignored by inconsiderate little waitresses.

We like their ramens! Will come again and again

Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening while on family vacation in London. Stayed at a nearby hotel and was actually looking at another restaurant which was closed and decided to give this place a try. Probably one of the best ramen places we’re tried, comparable to the ones we frequent in the SF Bay Area, and to the ones we’ve tried in ramen street in Tokyo station. The broth is flavorful, the egg done just right and the pork soft and tasty. We had the curry Katsu (good but not the best I’ve had) and the regular Tonkutsu. The sides look good as well but we were not looking for a heavy dinner.

Had the summer special - dry ramen with a raw egg yolk. Absolutely delicious highly recommend also the fact they have a garlic crusher on the table to add your own garlic and the sesame dispenser breaks up the sesame seeds to give more flavour and aroma is top notch. Would definitely go again!

This place gets really busy, which is always a good sign in my book. They have options on their menu to satisfy vegans, pescetarians, non-vegetarians & people with allergies. I would recommend to try their hot teas. The ramen portions were huge! I had to box up almost half of it!

Wowww..This place is the best Japanese ramen place I've ever tried in London. I've been trying Japanese ramen over 10+ places and I found Shoryu ramen is the most delicious ramen (in London). I had Tonkotsu ramen with extra Char Siu Pork Belly and Kimchi. The ramen broth was so rich and flavourful, noodle was hard as I liked, love the char siu pork which so soft and tasty. Service was exceptional. Highly recommend this place to everyone

The restaurant is convenient to the hotel. I’m staying at. The food is amazing. The service is slow.

Quick, cheap and hearty ramen 🍜

Cozy atmosphere decorated with many Japanese elements. There are few tables but it has a bar where you can also sit and eat. The ramen is very good, both the broth and the noodles are handmade and were exquisite. I recommend pork broth, the house specialty. Nothing to envy Japan! Reasonable price for London, 20-30 pounds per person for a ramen + drink. They have a wide variety of alcoholic beverages and tea. Totally recommended!

Amazing food, worth every single penny. However service can be slightly improved, hello as the door would be very nice. We where standing at the door for 10 min with now acknowledgment.

Great service and atmosphere, really liked the decor but the food wasn't great, ordered Vegan white natural and Edamame. Both weren't that great, get better frozen Edamame from the supermarket that can be microwaved. The Sake was good

This is my favourite Shoryu branch. More relaxed than Broadgate, more spacious than Queen St. Staffs are more friendlier.

We wanted an affordable bite and my friend was really craving ramen on a Saturday evening. It was busy but the service was still fast. It was my first time going. I went for the seafood ramen with the vege broth and it was a bit spicy but perfect level for me. My friend went for the pork ramen and said my seafood one tasted better. For those who have dietary requirements, they do take care of allergies and there’s also a vegan section. I spent £18, so you can have an evening chilled filling meal for under £20 here.

Very good food not the best service, dismissive and kinda rude staff!!

The other day I visited this restaurant for dinner and I was amazed with the food and the customer service, specifically with the waitress who served me, Alejandra. The recommendation that Alejandra gave me for dinner was very accurate and exquisite, a ramen “Shoryu Ganso” and some takoyakis. Without a doubt I loved this place and would definitely return.

Octopus Takoyaki was unbelievable, bao buns were great, beer was cold, nice decor, good service, someone banged a drum, would come again

Karaka Tan Tan Tonkotsu was very good and tasty that I forgot to take a picture before I started eating 😎 it means something! Service was good and I only waited a few minutes to get my ramen! It deserves my recommendation👍

Nous sommes arrivés a 10 personnes avec deux poussettes la verseuse très gentil nous a trouvé une place même si le restaurant était petit. Les plats étaient délicieux 😍même si on était nombreux on a été presque servi tous en même temps.

Good tasting ramen. The flavors were good and everything was cooked perfectly. They offer different levels of hardness for the noodles which is nice.

As a person with a more obscure food allergy that has recently become quite severe, I was very grateful when the waiter asked us right away if we have any allergies and then kindly brought the ingredient list for me to read. I was out with friends for the day and we were tried and hungry and trying to find a place that would have something I could eat. In dealing with this allergy, I've found a lot of restaurants can't or won't tell me what's in the food, so I was super thankful for Shoryu's transparency, understanding, and kindness. It's so important for people with food allergies to be able to access tasty, fresh food, especially for social reasons. I truly wish more restaurants would take a lesson from Shoryu's inclusive standard practice!

It’s a good option if you simply want a quick meal. Don’t expect anything outstanding, it’s simply a solid ramen. I would put it like this: it gets the job done

I had the Tofu Ramen and it was delicious. The Bao buns were 2 for 1 which was a nice surprise, they were also quite delicious.

Food was great, but I am not entirely sure why I bothered paying for the service. I don’t know if it was the manager but he was quite rude. I would say just go down to the Liverpool Street shoryu.

My girlfriend and I are still in the process of finding the words to describe this experience. Luckily, the situation was so absurd that we found it funny. While we were still eating, the supervisor came to our table, stating that the place would close in 10 minutes. When I pointed out that we hadn't finished our meal, the supervisor mentioned they had takeaway containers for us to finish our dinner at home. LOL. At 22:00, the staff deliberately left the main entrance door open to let the cold in, as a sign for us to leave. This became crystal clear when they closed the door behind us as soon as we exited the place at 22:15 . We are still speechless, but at least we are laughing about it. I am modifing the review, with the hope you are going to see it as an answer to your reply. Probably you did not see anything or your cc because we were there a week ago: Sunday 03/12/2023 (I still have the receive). A door can be left open with anything in front of it. Your staff made us aware about your timing, however we had and we still have a screenshot, about our reservation for 9:00 p.m. saying that we were going to have time till 22:30. But not to worries we are a ramen couple, we always go in many ramen bars and we are regular of specific ones, I am sure we will be able to find the right place for us.

The ramen is delicious! The broth is so flavourful. They have a lot of options to choose from. The atmosphere and the service is just amazing. I highly recommend this place for some authentic Japanese ramen and drinks.

I ordered a meaty meal for one. Ramen was undercooked egg was grey. There was one small piece of pork. I added extra katsu chicken this was not included. Gyoza was over steamed and split open, plus only 3 to a portion. Never again!

Bright colourful place hung with lanterns & the thought of a tasty plate of hot noodles lures you in We waited well over an hour for our noodles, we were already hungry when we arrived .. I had a headache so lost track of time sitting there rubbing my head & my friend was frazzled from the bus diversions ;) We asked a few times where our food was , after becoming conscious that we were literally drooling at the mouths & were told it’s coming now ! It didn’t ! At this point you can perhaps commiserate with us , we hadn’t been offered any compensatory snack because in fact despite there being only 4 other customers in there all of whom had already received their food , they FORGOT not only our order but our existence & we were even seated in full view ! Eventually a free bowl of edemame turned up with our extremely belated order, after we complained a third time, and when we came to pay they fluffed it up walking off with cash & bringing no change ! The service was already included ffs ! 🤷🏼‍♀️ No real apology or compensation or astute handling of the situation , felt like a number ! I can get tasty noodles elsewhere thanks !

Fan of Shoryu Ramen have to say that this branch I wouldn't really recommend unless you're on a decent salary, in a rush and desperate for Ramen. The food was ok but honestly the ramen didn't seem to be as flavourful as my experience at other branches although this could have been affected by my overall experience. The atmosphere at this branch is definitely off, they have tried to do something different with this branch and made it a bit more casual/commercial/trendy to fit with the area maybe? I don't have an issue with the different approach it feels authentic but there's issues in the layout. The massive anime girls in the window, while they certainly stand out from the outside, they make sitting at the windows incredibly claustrophobic especially seeing as some of the window seats have a wall directly behind them. Additionally sitting here meant that staff were completely unaware of us. Staff also seemed to be at best shy, and at worst apathetic. I had to climb out of the corner a couple times to get attention, and interactions weren't great. As other customers have said service charge was added to the bill, with the service we got this seemed a bit rubbish.

Very good place for ramen and for japanese curry. I really liked their curry. Big plate with good qualité products. Might bé a little bit more spicy but i guess it's adapted for everyone. The staff is nice and helpfull. If you like japanese good i highly recommend this place. Good address in Shoreditch. I often struggle to fond a good japanese curry, so i'm happy that i found shoryu Ramen. Thanks and see you soon

Delicious Ramen. Very authentic and the staff are wonderful too. I had the original ramen which I can recommend highly. Gets busy at lunchtimes so get there for the 12 opening, especially if you want seats opposite one another.

We loved this place. Food was delicious, had the pumpkin katsu curry and left feeling very well fed and content. Staff were super friendly and decor really nice.

Maybe it was an off day. The service was really poor and the pork belly tonkotsu was pretty mediocre. Not something I would rush back for.

Popped in for a takeaway - fast service, lovely staff, delicious food. Had the miso ramen and spicy octopus balls - really tasty.

I really disappointed ☹️ when I saw matcha cheesecake it's not same as photos in website page when I ask the staff said it's not Thier shop photos and I didn't like the taste also 😞 and the staff I spoke was rude.

Nice food although the broth could've been warmer. Friendly and quick service and got a table without reservation very quickly. A nice place for lunch and your ramen fix.

Purposely made us pay the discretionary service charge just because we made a free reservation. They didn’t give a valid reason and charged 8 pounds as service charge for no reason. We feel cheated by this and has very negatively affected our experience with shoryu.

Horrible place with terrible service. They charged 8 pounds service fee and when we asked them to remove it as we were students and it was discretionary, they kept arguing saying that we made a free reservation so they could not remove the service charge. We feel extremely cheated by this experience.

Went in for a quick bite. Had the tofu bun and the pork bun, both really nice. The ramen however was pretty disappointing, noodles are store bought and not tasty.

I go very often and it never fails to satisfy my ramen cravings! It’s always fun to try the season specials!

Like the deco and the fast service. The ramen and fried chicken are both tasty. The tofus came with the ramen are a bit blank. But all in all, it was a good experience.

Les ramens étaient bons, mais nous sommes tombés un jour d'affluence ou de manque de personnel en cuisine, du coup les plats sont arrivés de manière désynchronisée et ma viande tonkotsu, pourtant la spécialité de la maison, avait eu le temps de refroidir ce qui a gâché l'expérience.

Posto carino. Personale socievole e alla mano. Ramen, i più buoni che abbia mai mangiato e porzioni belle abbondanti. Consigliatissimo 😊

Best ramen I've had in London!! We both had the classic Ganso Tonkotsu and it was so tasty. Really flavourful broth! The cocktails were also great. Really reasonably priced for such high quality food. We'll definitely be back!

Locale piccolo, pulito. Ottimo il cibo e il servizio (la ragazza indiana che ci ha seguito ci ha donato bellissimi sorrisi e infinita pazienza). Non è un cinese/giapponese/fusion per le masse, ma un ristorantino che consiglio per ramen e altra cucina giapponese, preparata con attenzione. Prezzi nella norma, Se andate con TheFork, lo sconto rende il tutto piuttosto conveniente.

Really nice and fresh food! Lovely ramen! They have happy hour at their house special ramen called early bird ramen £9.99 We also had the vegan pumpkin crocket katsu and it was delish!

The staff at the restaurant were welcoming and friendly. The Kimchi Seafood Natural Ramen was delicious. If you like spicy food (for example Scotch bonnet level) this dish would be mild spicy to you. But I would still recommend this dish. I’ve tried Takoyaki only a handful of times, but I thought it was cooked well. The benito flakes were scrumptious. The Yuzu Jasmine Tea was okay, but not refreshing. The restaurant is small, so I would recommend booking in advance especially if it’s a nice day outside. I was a little unhappy with the service as there was a little bit of a wait for my friends main dish. My friend had to flag the waiting staff about the wait, which they quickly addressed. Overall, a good restaurant to go to for after work dinner with friends or for solo dinners.

Food is great! Tasty and filling. The service is a bit slow but they staff is friendly. Nicely decorated and good atmosphere.

Got the katsu noodles which were good, lots of different flavours. Atmosphere was good, busy vibe but it easy to get a table on a Saturday. The bill was pretty cheap for central London. The only thing that I didn't like was that they rang a gong every time people came in which was kind of jarring.

Very disappointed that we were turned away - 45 min before closing - the restaurant was still very much full and people were just starting. We knew what we wanted to order. Despite the website stating that the last orders are 30 min before closing - the waitress was not interested in serving us. Food is generally great, but staff training would certainly benefit the business.

Very mixed review here. There’s two vegan ramen options and they are actually both pretty tasty. The starters though were super disappointing, the bao literally tasted like cardboard and ketchup 🫤and the cucumber was literally just slices. Also the set up is kind of weird, if you’re unlikely you just get placed literally in front of a massive pillar that you have to try and eat around haha. Service is fine and the people watching is good, but don’t bother with starters for sure

I’ve gone twice during my time in London and their ramen is delicious! the Gyoza is alright and the edamame is good. I also tried the matcha cheesecake and it is so good! Service is just a little slow

Food was amazing, so tasty and fresh. I had the black garlic ramen which exceeded my expectations and the bao buns were so fresh and perfect! The service was great considering how busy it was although I had to ask to pay my bill a few times. I will be back 🥰

Ramen was just OK, I was actually disappointed given some of the hyped up reviews I read about this place and their tonkotsu ramen. Staff were really friendly, decor is cute but kitsch.

We were disappointed to find that the restaurant did not offer any gluten-free options. It would have been appreciated if they had either declined our booking or informed us in advance. The waitress was aware of our gluten-free request upon our arrival and acknowledged it, but we ended up spending 15 minutes searching through the menu and inquiring about any available gluten-free choices before sadly had to leave without oder anything

Good Ramen, good service But not my favorite.

I recently visited Shoryu restaurant and had the spicy ramen with prawns. It was absolutely delicious and very tasty. The waitress Ale was also very kind and made the experience even better. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great food and excellent service.

We are takoradi addicts. You can get them frozen from Ocado, but nothing beats fresh and Shoryu does them fine.

Amazing Ramen, reasonably priced, great atmosphere

Came at 1:30pm on Thursday and service was very quick. Ramen (original Tonkotsu) was delicious.

Had the White Natural ramen. Excellent miso broth with generous mushrooms. Good portion. One note for vegans/Muslims: the majority of the ramen dishes consist of a pork-based broth. A few vegan options (like the White Natural) are available though.

Perfect spot for authentic ramen!

Look the food was ok. Nice broth, starchy noodles and a bit too much ginger. However the service was majorly lacking. Took a long time to get seated, order, or even pay, and the waiter was very unenthused about giving us their time. Also got charged a 12.5% service fee which was confusing seeing they ‘served’ our table 2 times in total.

We were walking down the neighborhood when we found this Ramen place. The place is pretty welcoming and the food is great but the real star is Neha! Patient, attentive and caring. She's the best waitress ever!

Have walked past a few times, and been in twice. On the first time, they were busy and we were pushed for time. Second time we got seated, and had time. Portions are good. Allergens yield The Folder of Ingredients and then being asked if that's good to go. I like this approach. Unable to digest pork, I took the vegan ramen. It was flavoursome, although if being really picky, the broccoli was not crisp and was rather soggy. Other veg were lovely. The star was the chicken skewers. I don't remember if they were teriyaki or yakitori. They were delish, though. The menu is heavily focussed on ramen/noodles.

Buzzy, casual spot for tasty ramen. I often come here solo when I’m staying in the area for work. Good for one person as there’s usually a spot on the bench by the window, but it’s not the place for a cosy romantic dinner for two! Service has always been good for me (contrary to other reviewers), and you can order and pay by phone now, which is handy if you’re in a rush. Food is very tasty, and although I’m no ramen expert, they taste as good as any I had whilst in Japan. Only 4 stars as it’s a bit of a tight squeeze in there, but if you’re just in and out for some noodles that shouldn’t dampen your enjoyment too much.

不知道為什麼有客人來要敲鼓很好笑。 剛好因為人多坐在一個吧台客領台的座位，我覺得設計不良。首先沒有位置可以放置客人的衣服只能捧著，也沒有提供置物箱子放在地板上，另外座位設計太擠，會拿到別人的手，也會擠壓的在領臺的員工。 食物部分，蔥花切的沒有段，香味沒有有效蔓延，當天點了味噌炸雞口味的拉麵，湯頭算滿意，但是炸雞口感調味不錯卻質地很乾。
