I’ve been wanting to come here for a while, and the food and ambiance did not disappoint! Each dish was tastier than the last, and the music (though a bit loud at times) really set a vibey mood. Highly recommend if you’re after great food and a fun, chill atmosphere. The service was fine, though the interactions were quite distant and reserved. We had to catch the servers’ attention a few times & the food was served with no explanation, a bit like an afterthought. As a former server, I can totally empathise with the difficulties of the industry, but a touch of warmth would have been appreciated.

THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTELY YES! I was debating where to take my boyfriend for dinner – I wanted great food but in a spot that wasn’t your typical restaurant, somewhere with a lively vibe, good music, and a fun atmosphere. We ended up having an amazing experience! The karaage chicken was perfect, and the mushrooms over edamame purée were a standout. in Paris where I live, it is tough to find really good modern sushi, but here every roll we tried was so good. I haven't had this good sushi in a while in France/UK The drinks were fantastic too – I had a tiki punch with banana rum, clove syrup, pineapple, and lime. It was the perfect balance of flavors! Honestly, it’s such a great option for a fun date night or just to enjoy with your partner.

IN LOVE with the atmosphere, staffs are nice, food was served quickly. the chicken kara-age is so good, esp the sauce, its like a citrusy spicy mayo. while fish carpaccio and smoked eel were fresh, they didnt leave a lasting impression. love the smash, mezcal is palate-cleasing.

Delicious food and I was so full after! We ordered the special set menu, which came with edamame, salmon tartare, sashimi, nigiri (tuna, salmon, yellowtail), tuna maki, chicken karaage and salad. All of the dishes were fresh and amazing, especially the chicken karaage and salad. Slightly on the expensive side (£45pp on set menu), especially if you order more than 1 drink. I got two glasses of sake and one glass of yuzu spritz (defo recommend) and my bill came to £88 🫠But good vibes and good food!

Food was very good. Atmosphere and DJ’s music were great. I am afraid, but service wasn’t. Me and my partner were seated underneath the air conditioning’s fan, which after a while was so cold that became almost uncomfortable to enjoy the set menus we chose. I asked the blonde waitress, who looked very bored, the possibility to move in one of the many empty tables that were around and in a very superficial manner she proposed only a space away from the dining room assuming that anywhere we were moved, it would have been the same situation. Regrettably, for most of the dinner we weren’t looked after, until we asked the bill. The same waitress was very annoyed to the point that she didn’t even say goodbye when we left.

We ate at the side room, which felt more intimate, but I would probably choose the main room next time. It felt cosier and more was going on; the tables were ordered around the room in a good distance, lighting was spot on, and a dj was playing lovely jazzy music. I liked the idea of the set menu; there was a lot of food, edamame, sushi rolls, nigiri, salmon tartare and fried chicken ( kara-age), or aubergine dish for the pescatarian. Oh and great sake!

Update to the below from 2015. What has happened to this place? It used to be that no one goes for the food, you go for the insane sound system and the wicked music. The food was very much secondary. We went for dinner on Friday, got kicked off our table at 10 - fine - thinking that the music is about to kick off. At 12, we were still hemmed in at the bar watching everyone still eating, with the music barely audible and the tables still in place. I thought this was meant to be a music venue? If it is now just a restaurant, what is the point in the sound system? No one can hear it?! You certainly wouldn't just go for the food which is not much better than Itsu. Really feel they have taken advantage here. We lived in Dalston for years and came to BC almost every weekend to dance. Supported it from the off. Man, what a shame! ** Just ridiculous. The music and sound system....my god. 2015

Overpriced, uncomfortable and stressful experience, as we were reminded every 15 minutes that we needed to leave by the waitress as “you only have a 90 minute booking!”. I recently went there for dinner with my wife to celebrate her birthday. Brilliant Corners offer a fantastic take on Japanese cuisine, with superior quality ingredients and great presentation (incl. subtle overhead lighting!), yet without ostentatious emphasis on being an ethnic restaurant. I particularly liked sashimi on ice - super fresh pieces of fish with unbelieveable texture. Service was spotless throughout the night. Very importantly, Brilliant Corners is one of these places that take the atmosphere & vibes to the next level - music (played through one of the best soundsystems I've seen in a restaurant) and decor are integral ingredients of a multi-sensory experience. Can't wait till my next visit - thanks all at Brilliant Corners for a fantastic evening!

This place is fab. The server told us they have had some negative reviews and I don’t get it, as our experience last night (Monday) was delicious and fun. The vibe is great: moody and chill in terms of decor, lighting and the music. The music was at the perfect volume when we arrived at 7- good for talking, even with us seated almost next to the DJ- and the volume increased just slightly as the evening rolled on. Atmospheric vibes were conducive to a conversation which is exactly what we wanted: not having to shout to hear each other. The service was very good. The drinks great: my smash cocktail was potent and lovely: a bit herbal with strong gin flavour, with a touch of sweetness. My husband appreciated his bold whiskey and my friend her orange wine. The serving portions are generous for the price so massive applause there! A very large bowl of padron peppers and fried chicken, and my big bowl of nasu (aubergine) pleased me with its size, utterly delicious miso flavour, and texture. Likewise my oyster mushrooms. I was perfectly sated after. My friend’s dragon roll was huge!! It’s definitely not cheap but my friend’s work covered half the bill. 🙃 I would return.

My experience: Booking was for 21:45pm Waiter saw us at 22:35 Food arrived 22:45- 1H wait I appreciated the fact it was busy. Whilst waiting for the food i ordered the whiskey highball. The whiskey was watered down with ice to such an extent that you could barely taste the alcohol. The first course meal was disappointing to say the least. What makes it worse is you realise you have to pay 40 pound for a sub par service. My one and only star goes to the music/DJ’s Overpriced. Horrible service. The staff do not care. And to add to it: as you are eating, most of the tables get taken away and you have to observe people dancing inches away from your table. I never write reviews but i had to this time. I’ve lived in Hackney for seven years and have eaten at many of the borough’s fine dining establishments. I can confidently say dining at Brilliant Corners is mediocre and overpriced. Dishes were plopped down onto our table with no explanation or mention of what we were eating (tricky especially when half our group was vegetarian). We were constantly hounded by servers asking us to order more drinks. Food was average, and ‘sharing’ portion sizes were laughable. The general atmosphere amongst the staff was high stress. The music programming there is good, so if you want to check that out I highly recommend skipping dinner and only joining for the dancing portion of the evening.

Overwhelmed with disappointment, I found myself in an unprecedented situation – leaving a meal halfway through, unable to bear the unpalatable experience. My husband had thoughtfully booked a seemingly delightful restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and he had made it crystal clear in advance about my food intolerance. Upon our arrival, the server acknowledged my fungus intolerance, only to drop a disheartening bombshell – my fixed menu would arrive devoid of seasoning or sauces. Including salad dressing - happy birthday. This has never happened to me before. . I endured three dry courses of flavorless, uninspiring dishes that lacked even a hint of flavour, thought to texture or seasoning. It seemed the kitchen had no intention of making any concessions to enhance the taste. No salt, no yuzu or spice. Their sauces all contained fungus. The guilt I felt for being so utterly disheartened was overwhelming. After all, this restaurant boasted glowing reviews and my husband had booked it to celebrate. I had never walked out of an establishment in tears mid-meal simply because I couldn't consume their food and they didn’t think to call and say “Sorry, we can’t accommodate you. Better you you book elsewhere to avoid a sad meal.” Could it be that they heavily rely on their sauces, neglecting the importance of seasoning and the texture of their dishes? In conclusion: Our server made an effort, but the kitchen failed to rise to the occasion.

We sat in a regular corner and enjoyed a meal with 3 other friends. The food was great but ordering the set menu meant we had to share the plates with everyone else on the set menu. This would have been fine except that two of our party ordered individual items and the portions seemed about the same… I know there’s probably a good reason why this seemed this way but next time I go I’m ordering al a cart. The tables are tiny so maybe that’s why things are served together and nothing to do with shrinkflation. The staff were sweet and no one made us feel like the middle aged grumps that we undoubtedly are, when we asked if the music could be piped down a tad (sitting under a speaker didn’t help).

Its not a club, its not a restaurant it's not just a bar..so it's really loud with people talking. Sounds silly but when people come to a listen or dance the chatter is much less. But both music and chat is super loud . Sound system is great as to be expected. Was dissaponted tbh.

Rating could possibly change if I tasted the food and have better beverages. Had the bar tenders “suggested” red wine - one of the worst wines I’ve had in my life. For £9 a glass I’m expecting to be blown away by the wine. Tasted like kombucha. The cider tasted like kombucha… Food looked amazing - would love to try it. Vibe was also cool, but that’s not enough to make up for the drinks.

Nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly enough. Food was lovely but the portions were tiny! 3 of the courses were to share, which is fine…. If they were big enough to share, which they weren’t. Ended up having to get food on the way home! Overall it’s too expensive for what it is.

An ode to the meal we never had…. Twas one of us who sat, nearly for an hour No food in his belly, no hey how are ya No extra shot provided in his drink When we asked, pre mixed quite sad do we think A bowl of salad fairly large in its size Wait times, wait times you surely provide PTSD will surely ensue I do love sushi but crumbs, f*ck you Knock some cash off the bill you bum Look at the dj he’s not eating crumb So for those who dare to dine beware One slice of sashimi is surely unfair The end Z H.

I really need to post reviews after an extremely disappointing dinning experience. Have been to many similar restaurants in East London but never got so disappointed. Definitely will not recommend. In terms of food. First, it’s fairly ridiculous to consider Edamame beans with some salt a COURSE. The sashimi is nice. The fried chicken is just like something slightly better than those you can get from a high rated deliveroo. Generally, food is very average and boring. The food and drink are 200% over priced. It’s difficult not to feel being ripped off. The portion is ridiculously small for even two people. Music is alright but it’s all about selling the concept of live music. The atmosphere and music don’t impress me at all. There are many better music scenes in dalston/Hackney area than this. Staff rush you and ask you to leave in less than one and a half hour. How can I enjoy the music if I’ve been rushed? This restaurant is a money making machine and tbh it’s quite disappointing when so many other restaurants in east London are trying to be more innovative on their food and improve their quality. Will never recommend it.

I was interested in trying this place but was left extremely disappointed. The idea of a bar kinda atmosphere with a set menu and good music is intriguing but the execution was very bad and the place is extremely overpriced. Turning first to the food, the portions were very small and the menu is unimaginative and overpriced. There are so many restaurants in the area serving more interesting and generous menus, including much better Japanese restaurants within walking distance. It completely fails as a restaurant at this price range. The service was decent until we were asked to leave so soon after eating, which is always a sign of a restaurant prioritising the commercial side over the experience. With the food being so disappointing, that leaves the bar and music elements. The DJ was cool but there’s no point in going to a place like this for music when you are asked to leave so soon after eating. Go to a bar instead and you can listen to music all night without being ripped off for an overpriced and unimaginative set menu! The drinks were average at best; small cocktails that looked inventive on the menu but lacked any excitement. That was disappointing as they cost £12, which can get you so much better in other cocktail bars in the area. So overall, it has a cool concept but terrible execution. If you want to eat at a good restaurant, go to one of the many better options in East London. If you want to drink and listen to good music, go somewhere where you won’t be ripped off with overpriced cocktails and asked to leave so quickly. This place seems designed to take money from people who haven’t realised that East London has so many better options.

One of the worst dining experiences I have ever had, awful food and service. Do not go here if you have any kind of dietary restrictions because they'll just serve you 100 mushroom stalks and tell you to be grateful. I did receive nice service from one of the servers - Rebecca, who did laugh with me about the ridiculousness of being served the same dish 3 times as a set menu.

Celebrated my 30th here and it was a lovely evening! Thank you so much! The private dining room is offered at no extra cost! The food was great and catered to vegetarians and vegans. Will, our waiter was brilliant (no pun intended) and Theo and Valentine were very attentive and helpful on email. There’s a strong selection of wines and spirits on offer, and the live DJ’s allow for post dinner activities without having to leave. X

Very disappointed. Some of the food was very good (especially the sashimi) but the portions were tiny. A lot of it was fairly average and the sushi was a real let down. The staff were pretentious and snobby and the music was too loud. There are far better places to eat on this stretch.

not so brilliant anymore … food was good for sure , not as stand out as before but good . Dogs shouldn’t be allowed if not allowed. Service was poor , dismissive and a little obnoxious ( Parisian let loose on dalston) sorry our puppy left some eaten tissue on the floor after spending 200 on bill .Did that come with you!?!? We will not return .

Daughter and I had a wonderful meal with great wine and excellent service at Peg last week. Music selection was both bizarre and hilarious, totally inappropriate and far too loud for the small venue. Lovely girl changed it on request but we were baffled by choice (The Specials 😝) put on full blast making our wine glasses vibrate!! Despite the musical faux pas, we thoroughly enjoyed dining at Peg, can highly recommend it and feel the quality and innovative food we were served would be well worthy of a Michelin star. Lovely staff too.

A few days ago I visited this cafe with a friend. A Japanese male staff member behaved so rudely to us (he ignored us when we entered, did not understand English at all, kept an abrupt and rude attitude overall etc). So I messaged them later about our bad experience through Instagram, in a fairly polite manner. They got back to me two days later, but it just said 'Haha, You are wrong, but I see no benefit to explain that to you.' That clearly shows I am not wrong... I do not recommend this place to anyone. There are many excellent Japanese cafes in London, such as Tsujiri and WA cafe, where the service is decent and the food is much better too.

We have been staying in the Z Hotel 5mins walk from this place and just fancied some sushi to take back to our room for dinner. The lovely guy behind the counter was friendly and helpful. More importantly the food was absolutely delicious! Recommended.

This used to be a great company with a variety of sushi to choose but now it's just set salmon sushi meals. They're okay for the price but the service at King's Cross is awful. Not LGBTQ+ friendly.
