I had the roast beef and smoked haddock rarebit starter it was very nice. Very friendly staff and posh ambience. It really was one of the best roast dinners. I’ve had in such a long time. Although the price was more expensive than other venues, it was absolutely delicious and I will return here in an instant.Ll

Evening Meal in this local Italian based restaurant. The food was absolutely fabulous. The calamari perfectly cooked and all the food beautifully presented and delicious.

We had a lovely meal here. Chicken and bacon salad was tasty and substantial, as was the Turkey and Bacon pie. Excellent and large deserts as well. Can't think of a better place for food in Welwyn village at the moment.

Really disappointed, expected a much better quality of food for the price. Especially after reading the glowing reviews. Everything tasted as if cooked from frozen and chips were like supermarket oven chips. Rice was dry and undercooked. Tzatziki and Chili Sauce were poor. Staff were very friendly but would not return or recommend.

This is a beautiful boutique cake shop in Old Welwyn, with the most delicious cupcakes, cakes, sandwiches and afternoon teas. It's run by an absolutely lovely local lady who makes the most amazing bakes! The shop is really pretty and quaint, with beautiful crockery and a lovely friendly vibe in the centre of Old Welwyn. The shop has a fantastic range of cakes and treats, including options for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free, which is brilliant. I often admire their celebration, birthday and wedding cakes online as well - they look amazing (maybe I need to get married again ;) ) Will definitely be back!

Just superb! Friendly staff and nice atmosphere waiting in line. The fish and chips were outstanding. Fish - generous, tasty with a beautiful crispy batter! The chips - again, generous and quite simply the perfect chip-shop chips!

Had a takeaway on Friday night and had bad food poisoning. Its hard to pin point which dish caused it as we all shared 6 dishes but I suspect the prawns. Maybe as a precaution, reheat takeaways when you get home to be on the safe side.

Took a reservation for tonight (my birthday), turnt up to the whole restaurant closed and no one answering the phone. Won’t be returning.

Sadly this was a very poor experience. The pub is extremely cluttered and feels very dated. The accommodation is more like workers accommodation with prices of a nice pub. I the room was cold and cluttered and warned out.

Another great meal at Auberge Du Lac, from the minute you walk in the door you are made very welcome, with the friendliness of the staff you know you are in for a relaxing evening. We got here very early at 5 pm as we wish to enjoy the views before it got dark. So the waiter asked if we would like the courses to be spread out so we get more atmosphere when other tables are taken. The food is amazing, from the welcoming snack and the hot freshly baked bread to the desert and coffee in the lounge with petit fours. We had the Wednesday supper club deal so the bill only came to £110 with a bottle of wine, this is fantastic value, we always treat going here as special, but at these prices should go more often, I am spending more than this in pubs. Very much looking forward to our next visit.

Fabulous breakfast with a friend. I had avocado and salmon on sourdough, it was absolutely lovely. Great atmosphere and lovely staff.

The location and room were fantastic. We love this place. The only irksome issue relates to responsiveness when trying to contact staff. We were located some way away from the main building and reception. I tried to contact reception and the restaurant several times from our room, and I had to abandon the call 5 times out of 7. Each time I called I let the phone ring over 100 times. Pretty poor, and completely out of sync with everything else, which was excellent. I stay in hotels nearly 100 night a year, so my experienced advice is to sort out your customer responsiveness to be a truly outstanding venue. When you do eventually answer the phone, however, the staff are delightful and very helpful !

I also came here earlier on as a delivery driver. And the staff were very rude to me too alongside other delivery drivers that came. Disgusting and appalling behaviour from the staff.

Had Sunday roast. Beef superb as was every other component. Will return on other days as best meal for an awfully Long time. Not cheap but I don’t care if quality high and it was. Beer well kept too.
