First time having a takeaway here and we were not disappointed. Food was amazing and delivered promptly. Will definitely be ordering again.

We actually had a takeaway delivery, which was very convenient. The food itself was the star, being absolutely brilliant! My wife and I thought that it was one of the best Indian meals we’d ever had, in nearly 40 years of eating curries together. The chef deserves massive credit, his creations are really special, and the online ordering menu from their website is excellent. The only downside is that the food is not cheap, but the sheer quality makes it worth the prices. Julian Carter.

First time here at the Taj Mahal, the food is up there with the best I’ve had. Starter - King Prawn Puree 10/10 simply the best I’ve had Main - Garlic chilli chicken and peshwari naan, everything freshly cooked and the chicken was beautifully tender. Spicing and flavour was unbelievable! You have to visit here.. well done guys!!

This was a spur of the moment phone order after their leaflet drop. Although living at least 5-10 minutes drive away our meal arrived piping hot. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the delivery driver was very pleasant. I will definitely be ordering from them again.

The worst Indian food I order! The lamb was not eatable at all and the sos was horrible and lots of money as well? The fish ? Where? Not even one piece? And the vegetables samosas were way to spicy?Deffff a bad experience and lots of money! Not reccomend it!.....please check I ordered on uber eat? UPDATE....UPDATE....I did explain in my review what happened but just eat never post it? So again .....warm food.....onion bhaji not cooked.....and the rest was just tasteless....no flavour....only chilli! And you put the coca cola next to the food? Bad.....so I don't know why my review is not posted on just eat but I already complained. To be honest I ordered again just because of the reviews ! Very spicy food!? Way to spicy! I do order about the food and not about the polite?!!!!..So all together a BIG NO! I WILL DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND IT!?

What a lovely restaurant this is! Just had a week stay in Welwyn for work and dined here twice. Staff are fantastic and the food is absolutely delicious 😋 BYO alcohol which makes it a really reasonable night out. I would highly recommend this restaurant! Food was fresh and hot, service was great and the menu is very reasonably priced. Thanks guys for looking after us!

We dined in late last night. Naan are not worthy, felt like bought from Tesco. Food quality isn't that good for the price you are charged! Responding to restaurant reply: After living in 3 different continents since last 10 years, I can say, I clearly understand the difference between home cooked "Indian" food and "British indian food"! We didn't mind paying for the price but we can at least expect equivalent food quality! Honestly, I didn't expect a lecture from the restaurant what home cooked food is and what is a restaurant food !!!!

Disappointing. It felt a bit stark when we walked in; a bit canteen like. It was so echoey. The tables and menus felt sticky/dirty. The starters were really small and having to keep my used cutlery for the main was just not right: why take the side plates? Am I really supposed to place them back on the table?? The drinks were very expensive, is this due to not having a liquor licence? The food was ok, but the takeaways I've had from here have tasted better, which I don't understand.

Ordered a delivery via the website. It is super easy to use. Food is still really good. This is a good solid Indian restaurant. Good flavours, lots of choice, website easy to use. The restaurant is BYO, so just be aware if you want alcohol.

Amazing Restaurant, food is to die for and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. If your looking for some real authentic food and amazing atmosphere this is the place too go already planning my next visit

It is a Indian place located in a beautiful village right in the town centre. They have space for about fifty sittings and they do lots of take away. The menu is very nice but the food and the waiting isn't that good. The prices a bit big for what you get. I do not regret to eat there but I wouldn't come back. You have the option to bring your own wine.

Best Indian we have found by far!

I ordered chicken tikka masala as main with rice, garlic naan, saag bhaji and lentil dhall. All just so tasty and fresh. Portions are big, we took food home which I'm looking forward to eating for lunch tomorrow 😋. The owner Jay is amazing, as are all his team. So tentative, helpful and friendly. Also really happy and knowledgeable to advise on food dishes/allergies etc.. The whole family will be back again very soon. Thank you Jay / Taj Mahal for a lovely evening 😘.

Taj Mahal Welwyn I can't begin to explain how happy I am with this place! This restaurant deserves the hype 👍🏻 Best Indian I’ve ever had , everything was perfect , Fantastic service and food , the chicken tikka was soo juicy and delicious 🤤!! M defo coming back 💯

Usually love this restaurant, however we ordered from here recently as takeaway and the food was nice but we ordered a big 1L bottle of coke and was subsequently given a small can instead, despite paying the price for a big bottle. We did complain to Uber Eats but never heard anything back…

We ordered a takeaway to pick up from this restaurant which we’ve never tried before. The staff were very welcoming when we picked up our takeaway. The food was excellent. We will definitely be returning and would recommend too.

Quite honestly the best Rogan I've ever had, and that's including the awesome dish I had in Asia. Everything about it was perfect. Subtle flavours, freshness, texture. This was a takeaway order so now I will be eating in-house from now on. Totally recommended.

We got a takeaway and the standard of food was excellent. Each curry was cooked well and stood on its own two feet. Tender chicken. Crisp nan. Every dish was delicious and will be returning for sure!

The food is always really really flavourful fresh and consistent. The curry gravy has great depth of flavours from the korma through to the vindaloo, more so than other curry houses in the area and believe me I have tried most in the quest to find the one with the best overall feeling of satisfaction afterwards. Nice work guys, keep it up!

Came here on a Friday evening and we were turned away because they were closed, despite the fact it was early and over an hour earlier than the times stayed on the door. Not impressed at all

Food was expensive we were charged for corking and we had taken our own bottles in and drink it from the bottle.

We had great food but dined alone

I visited with my friends and we had a amazing service and to top it off it was Bring your own alcohol which was very pleasing to all our pockets . Food was outstanding and bursting with so much flavour ,really pleased with all our dishes. Staff are great with helping my friends who can never decide what they would like to eat and took their time to explain and recommend dishes . This place has a lovely vibe and was overall a great evening . The food was 10/10 .

1. Very expensive (£14 main, £5 rice, £5 naan) for the quality of food and service receivedw 2. Although it's BYO, they will charge you a £2.50 corkage charge (for giving you 1 glass). This is not communicated prior to the bill coming. 3. When asked for a VAT receipt, was told "we don't charge VAT" (I'll make my own enquiry about that). 4. I stay in the area a lot, but would not consider visiting again. 5. They can't even be bothered to supply a menu, you have to scan a QR code on phone; until it comes to dessert, when they are more than happy to shove a menu under your nose, knowing full well that the likelihood of you sanning again is low.

Very nice menu and could not do enough to make us feel welcome and prepare the dishes to our needs. Great service and the best poppadoms for miles around.

Tried this restaurant for a takeaway for the first time on New Years Day evening. They were clearly busy as it took a couple of attempts to get through on the 'phone. The guy answering the 'phone was helpful, the food arrived when he said it would, and it was the best Indian takeaway we've ever had! There were four of us, so we got to try lots of dishes and they were all absolutely excellent. Everything was good - would highly recommend.

Best food i have ever had in such a long time.

I had a great time eating delicious food at Taj Mahal restaurant. The staff were committed to great service and were very friendly. Most importantly, food on menu tasted great!

Food was fantastic. However, the staff at the Taj Mahal Welwyn were exceptionally rude as the service was rushed and were disregarded. I would warn people that it closes at 11pm on a Saturday night despite the front door and website stating it’s 11:30pm. At 10:55pm we were basically thrown out with staff swearing and unable to finish our drinks. Very disappointing service and in the end hostile atmosphere by not respecting their time customers.

Collected takeaway. They sent text when ready - only 20mins after original booked time. Quick service on arrival, though they threw in sauces of the same type at the last minute instead of 2 of different types. Food was v good. Observed just a small restaurant with one table right by the door which would be annoying with takeaway collectors coming and going.

I get the lamb chilli tawa every time, I like to try new things every so often and ever since I gave this a go I haven't dared not order it! Lovely food one of the best Indians in welwyn Hatfield if not the best.

Had a chicken Vindaloo, it was absolutely fantastic, just about blew my head off but lots of flavour. Staff were absolutely lovely. Be careful, it's bring your own booze! They've plenty of glasses though.

Wonderful Indian food. When we opened the menu we were very excited everything came without panner as an option which as non meat eaters was amazing also cheese and chilli naan which isn’t served anywhere we go and had the most amazing amount of cheese Even though they accidentally brought the wrong dish with chicken 20 mins after we called them they brought the correct one ! Was really impressed

ILiving in a city with good local restaurants, I rarely east Indian food whilst away on holiday,especially in a small village like this. However, we decided to give it a try and the food was fabulous. Really delicious and subtly flavoured. This is a restaurant(or take out) not to be missed. Don't forget to bring your own wine as it doesn't serve alcohol.

Lovely takeaway, we would highly recommend you try it out. Delicious bhajees and naans. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely give it a go if you’re in the area.

Food very nice service could be a little better

My family and I just had the most delicious takeaway from Taj Mahal in Old Welwyn. Everything was cooked perfectly from the onion bhajis to the saag aloo, the chicken tikka masala to the tandoori chicken, the honey luscious to the peschwari naan. I've already recommended it to a handful of friends having just finished the meal and it will be the next Indian restaurant I go back to/order a takeaway from. If you want a fantastic meal, you must try this restaurant - you will not be disappointed. Thank you Taj Mahal!

First time having Taj Mahal, my only fault is that the vindaloo was not very spicy, which is obviously half the reason of getting it. But still 5 stars because the food still tasted really nice and delivery was quick 👍

We just love it here. We live locally and takeaways have been our treats/highlights during the lockdowns- thank you! Really easy to order online, we use Just Eat, and between lockdowns they offered a safe and thoughtfully planned environment to eat onsite: space and screens between tables, hand sanitiser and no paper menus. The food is so delicious, mushroom bhajee is our favourite and they always add extra garlic for us! The staff are so friendly and helpful and really take pride in the food and restaurant. Highly recommended.

Spent £50 on three dishes and a starter. The meal was short of the starter and popadoms ( which should be free IMO) it was was also luke warm. They offered a 10% discount on my next order, I won’t be using them again.

This restaurant is amazing.... the food is so good and staff are very friendly and helpful. The thing that puts me off eating here is the toilets ... they are in a terrible state and really need a refurb...... I’ve been using this restaurant for a few years , however if I was a new customer and popped to the toilet before ordering I would think twice unfortunately.....

Normally have a takeaway but decided to eat in the restaurant for a change. We received a nice friendly welcome, hand sanitizer to use by door, spacious seating with dividers between tables. Food was lovely and delicious, not too long await between courses, the asparagus bhaji was a nice new addition to the menu and very very tasty as a side dish. We took our own drinks, much nicer to sit in and relax between courses than having our usual take away!!!

Have had one takeaway and one sitting in the restaurant. Both were de!icious, super service. Would highly recommend.

In my opinion the best for many miles. Flavour regardless of dish is always top notch so choosing a favourite is difficult. The best balti/bhoona/rogan josh/dansak I’ve ever tasted. Add to the fact the people are genuinely nice and welcoming makes this a 5 star review.

Definitely the best Indian takeaway around. Not greasy, full of flavour. The only problem is i order in probably too much as its just so tasty.

Regularly ordering home delivery and the food is always completely delicious. Having been a lover of Indian food throughout the several cities I've lived in within the UK, I can say without doubt, Taj Mahal is top quality.

Had a curry from here last night and we really enjoyed it. Good taste and quality. We will be ordering from here again. The lamb in my Balti was a bit tough for my liking and I’ll order the chicken tikka which was delicious.

I haven't been to the restaurant for a fair time, but tneeding an Indian meal delivered I found that Taj Mahal offered a comprehensive service. Ordering from the extensive on line menu was easy - it was good to see it split into vegetarian, fish and other categories as one of our gusts is a vegetarian. The oreder arrived wtin 5 minutes of the time for which I had requested. Everything was piping hot and wee packed. The food was very good and I will certainly use the service again.

Please don't ever order from this restaurant. I ordered garlic chicken gravy as I personally like to have spicy food but the food delivered was just the Red chilli paste mixed with chicken. It was so much spicy that anyone cannot have it. The entire food was thrown in Dustbin.

We placed a very large and expensive takeaway order at 5.30pm. We were told this would be delivered in 45mins. Over 2 hours later this has still not arrived. Apparently it was incorrectly delivered but despite reassurances from management that they would recook and speedily deliver our order, it has not arrived nor have we been refunded.
