This is the best Indian takeaway in St Albans ever!
The food is absolutely amazing all the time.
I will not order from another restauran again. Thank you Chef Express!
Splendid old house, beautifully repurposed as a gastro pub. Lovely gardens, great terrace, excellent menu. Young but friendly and professional staff. Super range of beers, wines and gins!
Had a 4:30pm reservation for 3 on Easter Monday. Our table wasn’t ready on arrival, we were told they had no roast dinners, no steaks left, the lamb dish was off and the service surrounding this was consistently amateur and poor. We ordered a lobster linguine to start and share. A cold, dirty bowl was placed on the table ready to transfer the linguine into from a pan so we had to stop and correct that as the waitress was unaware. The zucchini chips were cold. There was a significant wait for the main courses. We could see another table send back their food twice. We were offered free deserts to compensate but we didn’t want desert. We just wanted to leave. I want to like The Ivy restaurants and have dined in a few, sometimes out of choice and sometimes obligated for others but they are on the whole disappointing. This one was an especially bad £200 mistake.
We were given a voucher for our anniversary for this pub that we had always driven past but never had chance to go in.
The staff were so friendly and looked like they knew some of the customers well. They were very good at given us ideas from the specials board that evening.
We had lovely waiters and waitresses.
The steak was the best steak and chips I've ever had in my life. My husband got the shnitzel which was also yummy.
The drinks were great too. Especially the cocktails. You make the best paloma 👏
Deffinatley want to come back again!
Thank you for giving us a great evening in your pub!
First time visiting over the weekend near closing time, large selection of plants and is very kid friendly. My little one enjoyed the push car trolley and there was a little play area by the cafe inside
Family of 3 for a lunch sitting on bank holiday for our anniversary. It really wasn’t that busy with about 10 covers and 3 members of staff but it was all over the place. We waited 20 minutes to get our drinks order and everyone was chasing for drinks, food and their bills. Not sure I’ll return

Takeaway Chicken & Prawn Yaki Soba. Its okay, even better when i season it though, i have to re fry it with chilli, salt etc to get the best out of Wagamama, unless I'm getting the firecracker dishes. That's my only criticism, I understand people these days don't like salt but I'm afraid it's essential to make dishes taste of anything when you're using ingredients with little flavour.
A hidden gem with unforgettable flavors! Ayos Restaurant combines warm hospitality, delicious cuisine, and a cozy ambiance that makes you feel right at home. Perfect for a relaxed family dinner — everyone, from kids to grandparents, will leave with a smile. Highly recommended for those seeking authentic tastes in a welcoming setting! Thanks for this lovely family restaurant running by three brothers. Well done

The location was amazing especially next to the old mill. We had high hopes but we're let down by the standard of food especially breakfast , why a basic menu doesn't get cooked correctly, they need lessons in cooking basic sausages and bacon and tomato's.
My daughter and son-in-law took me to the Golden Elephant as a Mother's day treat. They know it is my favourite restaurant in the area. I was not disappointed. Joe (the owner) was very welcoming and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food and atmosphere were excellent. I can thoroughly recommend it.
