Even though they had put a floor standing fan in the room with the windows open, it was impossible to sleep due to the noise from traffic and the fan. Ridiculously hot. The food in the attached Beefeater was awful. I had the lasagne and I swear it only had one pasta sheet. Breakfast was not great either: mushrooms stone cold, grilled tomato barely cooked, bacon had sat around so long it was chewy. They had no butter, only some form of 'spread'. Really not worth the money.

I stay in a lot of Premier Inns and normally its my go to choice. I'm slowly being put off by the chain and moving forward I'm going to try and not use them. Why?? Lots of them are getting old, Drab and worn. Staff seem to hate there jobs there and why some are good at putting on a smile, talk to them long enough and you can hear working for the chain sounds the best... every hotel I'm staying at has issues. Cleanliness, facility's, ambient temperature of the rooms. This Hotel is right next to the M1. Great location and why I chose. First impressions of this hotel: The road to turn into the Hotel is basically a dirt track. Big ruts and potholes, One car a time and no passing places. The carpark is small and unless your directed by anyone its easy to miss that its a MANANGED car park. Stick Reg in tablet and sorted for the night. The room was a little worn dead flys and insects stuck on the window sill and netting. HDMI Port is was damaged and not usable. Just means i have to fondle behind the TV and is a little annoying as its covered in dust. Bathroom tap sprays all over when used. Seals that have been replaced are to a poor job and some are worn around the bath. Again around the bath could of been alot cleaner. The Breakfast! Getting into the restaurant was confusing. No signs to which way to go and very dim and worn. No sign at the top of the stairs of where to wait and no one to great me at first. Its one of them tell the server what you want venues. Scrambled egg was dry, Bacon under cooked and like it was taken out of water to keep 'Fresh'. Beans were under cooked. Would i stay here again? Not really.

Terrible. Blood stained duvet, used plaster in bathroom bin, terrible smell in room, Zero in Beefeater waiting to be shown to a table being ignored resulting in us having nothing to eat. Good location for Harry Potter Studios but otherwise avoid!

The floor had not been cleaned - there were bits and debris all over the bathroom floor and the carpet in the bedroom. Definitely not vacuumed prior to me, so I just felt a little grubby the whole time I was there. My room was also freezing when I checked in at about 6pm (in March) - not sure why they couldn't have had the heating on in advance of me arriving. The restaurant was closed for dinner due to flooding (no one's fault) so I drove into town instead, but it was reopened for breakfast and was decent enough. Probably won't return in a hurry due to the state of the room.

We stayed here for 2 nights. At check in I asked when I needed to let them know about having the room cleaned after the first night and was promptly told that we couldn't have our room cleaned after the first night as they had 40 rooms leaving in the morning and only had 4 cleaners. I was taken a back by this so instead asked for clean towels for the second day, which we were then given. The shower gel in the shower was so watered down, it was basically just water Both nights the TV randomly turned itself on at 1-20 am. When I checked out, I was asked if everything was ok. I said not really and let the different receptionist know about our stay. She apologised and said our room should have been cleaned. Our stay fell far short of what you expect from Premier Inn.

A bit in the middle of nowhere, good food. Good value for money. Beds are too soft.

What has happened to Premier Inn breakfasts? They keep serving diluted orange instead of fresh and the hash browns would make good door wedges!

The only negative things were both the bed and the bath were way too high!!. I am under 5ft, or only 148cm and it shouldn't be difficult in a hotel room to get into bed or in the bath for a shower!!

Arrived a Tuesday afternoon, only one other customer in but greeted with a smile and "what can I get for you" straight away. The lady who served us mentioned that she was the only member of staff working and things may be a bit slower than normal but this was not the case. Ordered 2 drinks and 2 baguettes and came to £13! Was given drinks straight away and shown where to sit (the conservatory) whist we waited for our food which didn't take long at all. The baguettes were simple but delicious, with generous filling. Lovely friendly local pub

We arrived at what appeared a charming, characterful, old building. That was the highlight! Inside is the opposite and we were greeted with "your table is down there, second on the left" To give you some insight, I have been to Thailand many times, have many Thai friends and have eaten Thai cuisine with them, in Thailand and many Thai restaurants. The food we were served in the Golden Elephant is not representative of Thai food nor good, well cooked fresh food of any description. The Chinese mushrooms with bamboo shoots was in fact 3/4 of one close cupped mushroom with some very soggy out of date bamboo shoots. The Weeping Tiger that we asked to be cooked med rare was cooked until it was crispy. The chicken with ginger was slimy and bland. The sizzling seafood mix was 4 prawns and a few half scallops in a bland sauce. The aromatic duck was overcooked and nothing about it was aromatic. Each portion was small, bland, over cooked and failed to taste like fresh ingredients that were stir fried by a competent Chef. I know that my Thai friends would have sent it all back as would I if I hadn't been taken there by friends who have not before eaten good Thai food and I didn't want to offend them. There are many good Thai restaurant in Hertfordshire but stay away from this place.

I walked in because they had a special lunch menu on for 12-4pm to try it. As I used to live in St Albans when it first opened but never managed to do whenever I happened to walk past. The food is awesome, service is great, with friendly staff and management. If you happen to have allergies they have great selection for most including lots of Gluten Free choices including a nice desserts HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, but if you are coming in the evening definitely book in advance

Great wagamamma, good central location, enjoyed a meal at around 6pm and there was no queue to get in, it did get busy later however. Waited under 10 minutes for our food and everything was tasty. Clean location! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
