The best restaurants in Waltham Abbey High Beach Epping Forest East of England

Small place with average food at above-average (London-level) prices. Front-of-house staff were excellent. There's a garden with potential and a nice view, but it's currently ( view) blocked by a tall fence.

A welcome stop in the heart of the forest to help refuel the tired walker, cyclist or motorbike rider in need of a break A nice selection of sandwiches / Baguettes / Rolls, plus chocolate, cake, crisps and drinks. However, make sure you have cash, as cards are not accepted (I guess there's no signal for a card machine in the forest)

Popped in for lunch for my daughters 16th birthday today. The staff were very welcoming and the food was lovely. Will definately return.

Rude obnoxious little bald man nearly got a punch in the face over my parking outside the car park, will not be going back, tea is piss water as well.

The dozen Irish and Scotch oysters we shared were up with the best UK oysters I’ve ever eaten. Sea Fresh, plump and juicy. They were truly amazing Staff are all friendly and professional and it’s great to see the hot dishes being prepared as ordered.

I would not describe this as a gastropub. It does serve decent pub food . Nothing to complain . Play area is lovely and safe absolutely perfect for kids . Except - The whole pub garden was like a smokehouse . You could see and smell smoke in the pub garden even in the kids playground. There is no dedicated area for smoking . There were no signs encouraging smokers to seat away from the playground area. If you are pregnant or have young kids may wish to stay away from second hand smoke . Staff were taking order and delivering food to the table with a smile . It was busy .

Had a lovely meal and the service by Stephen and Darcy was exceptional Will go again lovely spaces for eating outside too

Pie and mash were delightful. Brilliantly served by Adam, Jo and Sophie.

Great Food, But Shockingly Poor Service This Time I’ve been coming to Miller and Carter in Epping Forest for quite a while and have always enjoyed the food — it’s consistently great. However, my experience yesterday was extremely disappointing due to the service. There was a new lady serving, someone I hadn’t seen working there before, and unfortunately, her attitude ruined the visit. She took our table order of four on time, but after the drinks and food arrived she never asked if we wanted dessert, and made no effort to check on us, we were sitting around with empty plates but she didn't bother to collect them meanwhile, she was attentive and helpful to other tables around us — we felt completely overlooked and unwelcome. Took her time to take the payment, if you ask she would say i will come in a minute but would go to serve other tables. It’s really disheartening because I usually enjoy my time at this restaurant. I hope this was just a one-off issue, but if this level of service continues, I’ll seriously reconsider returning. I hope this won't happen again.

Visited for lunch on Good Friday 18th April 2015. Superb fish and chips lunch. Myself and my wife have had numerous visits over the last year, the service, reception and quality of food has always been exemplary. Thanks to all the staff.

My family went to the cafe this morning i ordered 2 eggs 2 bacon fried tomatoes bubble snd hash brown my husband had a burger my son had porridge and my granddaughter had sausage and chips my eggs were hard and swimming in oil my bacon was undercooked so my husband had that the bubble was not nice the only thing i ate was hash brown they forgot my 2 slices of bread and butter so i had to go to the counter my husband’s burger was average and my son said his was not very nice i definitely won’t go back and neither will my family such a shame it used to be very good cafe but not anymore
