Stayed next door and booked a table for dinner on line, quick and simple to do. Arrived and shown straight to our table and was served by Sophie who took our drinks order. Great choice of food including a list of specials. The food arrived which was hot and plentiful and tasted lovely. Followed this with a desert again spot on. All round impressed and would definitely recommend. Thanks again to Sophie for the great service and chat.

Sunday lunch on the afternoon of 8th September: truly excellent food, exceptionally good service and a very good ambience at Bakers Arms (Waltham Abbey). We had roast turkey and roast beef, followed by a delicious salted caramel sundae! Indeed, I was more than very impressed by the (blatantly) hard-working staff who run a very tight ship here - and they were obviously very customer orientated. Our server Ellie could only be described as "excellent": a very bubbly individual and full of energy, attended to all our requirements with a magnificent smile! Well done (and thank you) Ellie for making our lunch so enjoyable - a definite asset to the team. I was a frequent visitor to the Bakers Arms in the past, but, sadly, I stopped visiting because I thought the service standards overall had declined. Judging from today's visit, I will definitely be booking again!

First a tip: Ask for a table away from the kitchen as the music playing in there was fighting with the ambient music in the restaurant so you just get a cacophony of noise. We visited on a Sunday and first looked at the drinks menu. No prices on a lot of the drinks and was told that was because the prices changed from pub to pub. We had one starter and two nibbles. The calamary starter was tough. The Cottage pie croquettes had a nice taste but were so dry that they were unpleasant to eat and the honey and grain sausages had no taste at all. For the mains, we ordered roasts, which were good and the lambshank shepherds pie was just ok, but at £24 it was lacking. Only two desserts ordered. The trio of British desserts consisted on a jam roly-poly that looked more like a meat pie and was very dry, a strawberry Eton mess that was just jam mixed with squirty cream and a few bits of meringue. As one guest commented: the gin and tonic had more strawberry in in than the Eton mess! The trifle was good though. The service was ok, but none of the staff put themselves out. I watched a man with his hands full of drinks negotiate opening the door to go outside, while two members of staff just ignored him. The place is clean, though the door through to the kitchen was full of fingerprints and needed a good clean. The outside spaces were clean and tidy and there is reasonable parking. Unfortunately, for what we paid and received; we wont be back.

Very happy. We have visited this place many times but usually for a quick cup of tea and coffee. The staff are always pleasant, the place is clean and it is a lovely environment. Tonight, the young lady who greeted us was once again friendly and efficient. Initially, we were there just for tea but ended up having a meal. The lady understood our needs and was totally accommodating. The food was of a great standard, excellent portion, and served as requested. I didn't get her name but will do next time however, as mentioned above, we find all the staff to be excellent. Thoroughly recommended by us.

Makes for a change a restaurant attached to premier inn,waltham abbey.And yet not ran by them.So quality of the food is that much better.Very nice,relaxing interior.Even using log fires to give that snug feeling when the weather not that pleasant outside.Staff polite and very accommodating.Good choice of beers and spirits.And very reasonably priced being just outside of London.Is my place to stay now when working in London.

What a Great Night Great Food and excellent staff we were looked after by Ellie,Jo and John nothing was to much trouble for them

This place has lovely food but this is the third time we have been told to ‘drink up’ at around 10.15pm. We weren’t ready to leave and I thought pubs close at 11pm. Not really acceptable to have to cut your night short because the staff want to go home early!

Lovely team and good food. Just wish we had been informed of items unavailable when we were shown to our table rather than when we were placing our orders. Disappointing to find out parts of the dish I wanted were off the menu. After ordering, we waited a good while before being told potatoes were unavailable for another of our party’s order and that chips could be had instead. Apart from that, all good.

Visited for a second Sunday in a row. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Pub has been refurbished to a very high standard. The food is delicious and you don't wait that long. Service is excellent!

Had a lovely lunch with a friend for a catch up, and steve and Jo were amazing and no trouble! Such a friendly happy service steve entertained my little one making little one giggle, but both went out there way for us! Definitely will be back! :)

The sharing starter platter was nice, particularly the crispy chicken, the pate, and the baked cheese. We knew we needed more bread to mop up all that deliciously gooey cheese, and ordered a garlic bread - probably a mistake, as it was a little on the greasy side. Better than the food, was the service. Everyone was helpful and friendly, but special mention to Stephen, who was the jolliest waiter we've met in a long time! We'll be back again in Spring.

I have only just found this review site. I'm amazed, when they stopped taking cash the barmaid was so excited, yeah card only. So stupid I always give a nice tip for good service but never include a tip on the card. So shortsighted, 50+ people who pay by card don't leave a tip. As for the rude manager, that's beyond belief. Another story.

Stopped at Premier Inn for 2 nights and booked breakfast. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely. Very hot and tasty.

Terrible food. Tiny kids portions of food from packets (they told us as much) And cold corn on the cob; sea bass was old and badly cooked while the “risotto” that came with it was just boiled rice with some tasteless prawns and a few veggies; the ham hock and leek pie wasn't a pie - sloppy filling with a dry and overcooked lid - with a few limp veggies and reheated mash. Do yourself a favour and give this place a miss

We ate an evening meal and breakfast the following morning. We were seated straight away on both occasions. Evening meal was a party of five, 5 mains and 5 deserts and no one complained. The only problem was no custard for the crumble The waiting staff were excellent throughout. Breakfast the next day was just 2 of us. We were met at the door and promptly seated. Firstly we were told there was no white bread pop to the corner shop Full English was ok but nothing more. Staff again very pleasant. So no real drama.

Can't really say anything good. We were made to wait for a table when we could see around 5 that were empty. They then forgot our drinks order after several reminder they got it wrong. My soup was cold and tasteless and the roast was cold with hot gravy and they also forgot about 1 of the side orders. The stuffed Yorkshire side was inedible so I gave it to a fox i had seen on the way in .will never go back

We went to this pub yesterday for Sunday dinner and I have to say I was very suprised how good the food was and value for money. Most of all was the excellent service by a waiter called Brennan. He was polite, caring, chatty and just a pleasure to be served by him. 10/10

Visited Bakers Arms with my other half for a late lunch. We had the Cod and Chips and the Beef Rib special, both were out of this world. Staff were lovely and courteous. Special mention for chef Josh, the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. Will definitely be back!

Stephen was excellent tonight we had banter about the football and had a great craic, we went back and forth about football, it was a relaxed football convo, Brennan was attentive and between the two of them our pints did not run dry, the restaurant was busy and all staff worked their arses off A credit to green King, chef and brewer I would strongly recommend this pub/restaurant to anyone who wants good food and a fun evening

The bakers arms has become something of a local for me as i am working in the area until June. Every time i visit i am greeted by smiling friendly staff who always strive to make my visit exceptional, whether it is for food or just a couple of Guinness in front of the roaring fire. Special mention to my visit (3/2/22) for some dinner the young lady (i forgot her name) who took care of me was absolutely fantastic.

My wife had Sea bass Florentine, I had Hand battered Halloumi and chips. Both were delicious. We were served by "bubbly Ellie" and "friendly Jo". Both were very efficient of course. Hope to come again soon.

Visited Bakers Arms in Waltham Abby the other day and straight away I could tell that this establishment was well organised. As soon as I arrived I was presented by a lovely young lady called Sophie. She swiftly sat us down and gave us menus. While taking our drink's order. She then came back and asked us if we were ready to order food, which by the way did not take long to come out and was delicious.Clearly, Sophie was the right hire for Bakers Arms as she showed excellent customer service, easy to talk to and always had a smile on her face. Even though the Bakers Arms was quite busy, she still managed.

Had a lovely meal with husband Paul and our son. Served by Stephen fabulous atmosphere and lovely and cosy. Fab food as always A**

Had a lovely lunch, 2 adults and 2 kids. Kids got crayons and an activity menu which they loved. Me and hubby had fish and chips and it was lovely. Lani and Daisy were our servers and really looked after us. Very good visit, we will definitely come back.

We found both Stephen and Emily B extremely friendly and carried out all their duties with professionalism, speed and with a lovely chatty atmosphere.The food was excellent, the christmas decorations were very good and our visit was very worth while. We had travelled from Ipswich, Suffolk and my sister had travelled from Reading.

Delicious food that was worth every penny! The staff were so friendly and helpful-they even gave a treat to our dogs and we didn’t feel rushed at all. We would definitely recommend it and we’ll be going back again! We were there for Christmas Day so thoroughly recommend their roast dinners! Every course we had was perfect!

We have eaten here on and off over the past few years, and twice recently. I can’t fault the food and there’s a good choice on the menu. The waitress both times was Jo and nothing was too much trouble. We felt very welcome.

Whilst working away I was lodging in the premier inn next door so was told the food was good As I’m on a limited budget I opted for lasagna and triple cooked chips (I don’t know why there advertised as triple cooked there clearly not )When it came I was disappointed as the chips were of a frozen verity and I wouldn’t call them triple cooked and they were like warm and slightly soggy The lasagna was ok a bit dry but some tomato sauce made it better but it’s nothing special The lettuce on the side was fresh and had a nice dressing on it probably the nicest part of the plate On the whole it’s mediocre food with a higher price

I was staying at the hotel adjacent to The Bakers Arms and had an evening meal in the pub. The welcome from Stephen was great, the atmosphere was nice with a log fire going to take off the evening chill, a couple of decent well kept real ales on pumps and the food was superb. So much so in fact, that I don't usually fork out for breakfast when I'm staying away, but I did here and I wasn't disappointed. Would I visit here again? Oh yes. and I would recommend it to anyone.

We had our Christmas party at The Bakers arms, sewardstone road, did not disappoint, food was lovely, staff could not have been friendlier, Brennan and Sophie were amazing, made our eve extra special looking after us.

We arrived an hour early and the staff were accommodating. We sat at the bar whilst they got a table ready for us. Excellent service, excellent food and two full tummy’s! The gluten free Sunday roast was amazing and even got Yorkshire puddings 😁

Emily was the star of the night, it was a really busy night we could see from when we walked in. However emily was professional all the way through. The food was amazing and the fire was blazing!Highly recommend a visit. We didn’t get the name of the other member of the team who also professionally got the fire going again - all I’m all a team that’s working together ❤️❤️

Been here quite a few times in the past. Usually at weekends but this time mid-week. Nice and quiet. Was met by Jo, who showed us to a booth - I love a booth!Had a choice of menus. Good choice of soft drinks, which I always appreciate.I had the risotto with scallops and sea bass and my friend had the battered halloumi.Delish. My friend couldn't finish her chips but had space in her desert tummy for the sticky toffee pud. I had the Bakewell tart and it was superb.Great service from Jo - we'll be back!

The food at the Bakers Arms is consistently good, we have visited the Bakers Arms quite a few times and have always had fabulous food and great service which was supplied by our waitress Emily B. Well worth a visit.

Came in with my husband on the off chance and was greeted by the staff there , they were so lovely . We had the trio of meat roast meals and it was excellent , didn’t wait long and tasted lovely

Under present ownership this has become my go-to place around here for a meal out - very nice food, interesting menus, good value, and *such* friendly and efficient staff. Sunday roasts particularly hit the spot, but aren't at all expensive. (Portions not huge, but still good value, and there's room for pud without feeling pogged.) Highly recommended.

We had a lovely meal, pate for starter, curry and burger for mains, food was fresh and served very quickly. Stephen is very knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. Seasonal ale on tap is great for getting you in that Xmas spirit.

A long time ago when 'The Bakers Arms' first opened it was on the expensive side with less than amazing food, as such, after many failed meals, I didnt return for around 10 years! Pleased to say it's changed hands / management / company and is now a very lovely local spot! Clean and modern, staff always pleasant, good choice of drinks & food (I just wish it offered more Veggie / Vegan options as extremely limited choice for me & certain friends)

Awful Sunday Roast. No love, no skill, no clue. Haven't had veg that bad since school dinners and even then it was better. Rib of beef, more like Rip off beef (no meat). Stale bread, twice. Forgotten drinks in a quiet pub, then when they arrived they were wrong. Inconsistent friendliness either super if you get the happy one or frightening if you get the miserable one, suppose it was Halloween. Guess it was a trick not treat.

We are fairly regular visitors to the Bakers Arms and have become accustomed to the good food and friendly service they provide.Our visit on October 30th was no exception.The food was excellent and all four of us really enjoyed our meals. The beer was first rate and had obviously been well kept.However, the icing on the cake was our server, Sophie.As well as giving us excellent service, Sophie has the knack of relating well to her customers and managed to tune in well with our sometimes strange sense of humour.A credit to the company.

I have been coming here for years as I have relatives who live near by. The food is always edible but it get shabbier and dirtier every visit. The place needs a deep clean and a new carpet.There is a bit of a smell as your enter. The staff are quiet indifferent to the customers by trying to avoid too much eye contact and almost run as the whisper is 'everything ok' I visited another establishment in this chain the day before, so just different.

Booking online easy and intuitive. Had a lateish meal (8pm) with a friend here. Menu options are good - two were no longer available. Drinks options are very good. Food quality is high and service very good. No sense of being rushed despite being the penultimate table to finish. Love the easy parking. price reasonable. Thanks to Emily B for her service. Loved the background music! tables in use were nicely spaced out.

This is a great country pub with a good atmosphere, and great food. The staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Stephen.

The menu had a good range of choices. We both had steak for mains, which was cooked perfectly. The staff were attentive and helpful, yet we did not feel rushed or bothered by them. A nice experience after a long day.
