The food was decent, hardly "gastropub" but middle of the road, tasty but nothing to wow, prices were fine for what it was. The staff were not unpleasant, but also didn't really engage at all, all stood chatting, didn't really feel like anyone cared. The pub itself was decorated nicely, old beams and beautiful flowers but the whole place had a really wierd vibe to it. Me and my partner are both generally easy going, love trying new places etc. But definitely won't give this one another visit. It was just OK.

We were a large family group booked for a Saturday afternoon get together meal in the gastro pub. Had hoped the food would be special with the gastro pub labelling, but I wouldn’t have described it as that. The service was fine and the starters were good, but several of the party had the curry special (chicken that day) and nobody finished it, with a couple of people saying the meat was chewy and fatty. My steak was good but my partner’s ham egg & chips was “about average” according to him, so a bit disappointing overall.

We stumbled across this cafe when looking for a place to eat. We were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly, polite and patient with us, before we received the food we were really impressed. When the food came it was absolute lovely the chips piping hot and the salad in the baguettes was lovely and fresh! I couldn't fault this cafe, they really made us feel welcome. When in the area again, we shall certainly be stopping by. Thanks again for a lovely stop off! :)

My husband and I got married on Friday 5th April at Kings Oak and I can honestly say we were completely blown away with Paula and the team throughout the whole process. They always made us feel at ease, the set up with the decorations looked amazing and they made our day run so smoothly, i nee-dent to worry. We held our wedding here in May 24 and it is the most amazing place. From the moment we booked right through to the end of the reception the staff were amazing. They knew their stuff, offering advice and guidance all through the process. The day went without a hitch and all our guests commented on what a great place it was. We highly recommend to anyone looking to book a wedding.

We had our wedding reception at the the kings oak back in 2019 and knew after how fantastic the staff and venue were that this would be the perfect venue for our daughters first birthday celebrations. What a wonderful cafe. Situated near Epping forest and next to a pub this cafe was a gem. Staff were so friendly and helpful was a pleasure. Ordered a cappuccino and a salt beef sandwich. The coffee was piping hot and the sandwich was overflowing with meat and super tasty. Lots of parking spaces nearby. Will return in the summertime.

We hired the Kings Room for my son’s 18th. Absolutely amazing! The staff were really professional and very knowledgeable in the advice they gave. The room on the night was beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for more. The evening went very smoothly and I couldn’t fault how professional the security staff were and with 150 18 year olds to control my hat goes off to them. The bar staff were very friendly. Nothing was a problem. I’m really glad we chose the venue it was worth every penny. My son has had an 18th birthday that he’ll remember for the rest of his life. Thank you Kings Oak!

We used Kings Oak for a Celebration of Life and everything went really well. They understood our requirements and everything was documented so no misunderstandings. On the day the team were polite and efficient and also unobtrusive which was important for us. All requests on the day were dealt with quickly. Good communication in advance and on the day.

I attended a 30th birthday here for a private party and loved it. Lovely decor in a really nice space with lovely staff. Just an all round great night. Particular shoutout to the younger bartender who chatted all night and accomodated our precious drink orders lol

From the minute I made my first enquiry, to contacting me after the event, the communication and customer service was excellent. This was the first charity event I was organising in honour of someone very special so I was very apprehensive about everything going to plan and it being the right setting for such an event. I met with Paula and all my worries disappeared, I knew I was in the right hands. Paula was extremely helpful, she knew that it was a special event and paid attention to every detail, giving me suggestions that I hadn't even thought of myself. The team were very supportive, answering my emails and phone calls tentatively on a daily basis and attending to every need. Paula, Toni, Stavi and Lisa were consistently on hand to answer all my questions and ensure planning was in place and I thank you all for your patience and understanding throughout. Paula did everything she could to ensure I was organised for the day, including setting up a number of meetings, including a meeting with Hus (who was very helpful), to go over any IT concerns we had in preparation for the event. She was constantly checking in, making sure everything was on schedule which was very assuring and supportive, she made me feel at ease throughout. I cannot express how thankful I am to the whole team for making the event such a success. The team on the night were very attentive and helpful, Fin was constantly checking in to ensure I was happy and nothing was too much. He responded to every query I had without hesitation in such a genuine manner. The food and decor were outstanding. When I walked in the room, I was taken aback by how elegant and stunning it looked – the exact setting and ambience we wanted for our event and Paula and the team made sure of that. Thank you again for all your hard work and commitment to making the event such a success. I cannot recommend the venue and team enough and I look forward to planning the next event!

Wow what can I say. The kings oak event team executed our wedding perfectly. We had the best day!! It was honestly the most incredible venue. Paula and Lindsey on the day were amazing making sure I was calm and everyone was in place and the day ran smoothly. The food was INCREDIBLE! So many people have said to me it’s the best food they have ever had at a wedding. Christian the toastmaster was lovely! The DJ provided was very good and really friendly! Photo Booth and chocolate fountain were included and were incredible, all the guests raved about them! I couldn’t fault the place. Thank you so much for making our dream wedding a reality, the venue is stunningly beautiful and every last detail is perfect.

Went with friends today, lovely food for the kids , the oyster shake was outstanding food, playground and garden lovely, but queuing single file for a drink at a pub is ridiculous, what happened to standing at the bar and waiting to be served. Was 30 min wait for a drink so we left and went the owl, same sort of place and got a drink working 5 mins. Other then the queue it was a nice trip.

We went for the ‘Marbella beach club’ experience. It was TERRIBLE. We went on a super hot summer day, the pool is FREEZING 🥶 not heated, no filters, no pumps. It was completely covered in flies. I’m expecting for us all to get sick. There was a few family’s and no one was swimming as it was so cold it was UNBEARABLE. Basically a giant dirty disgusting paddling pool 🤢 they just want you buying food and drinks. I’m EMBARESSED I paid £40 for me and my daughter to go along with our friends.

My husband and I held our wedding reception in the Kings Room and it could not have been any better. The staff were super helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We were originally in the Oak Room, but we’re luckily enough to be upgraded to the Kings Room. The decor is amazing, great atmosphere, amazing bar and dance floor. All our guests commented on what an amazing venue we held our reception in. Would definitely recommend. Also, a huge shout out to the DJ who was brilliant!

We recently held our Daughter's wedding at this venue. We cannot rate it highly enough. Throughout the whole event we had regular meetings with Paula and her team who were absolutely amazing and so well organised. The day of the wedding went so smoothly. We hired the whole venue and our guests were truly amazed when they walked in. The staff on the day were so efficient and friendly, the food was gorgeous, fresh and piping hot when served. The staff could not do enough for us and Holly who was team leader for the day was so organised and things just ran so smoothly. We had a large family over from Ireland , they were so impressed and indeed went so far as today it was the best wedding they had ever attended. It really exceeded our expectations. Once again thanks to Paula, Holly and the whole team for making this a day we will never forget.

This was the first and only venue we looked at for our Wedding. We instantly felt comfortable in the Kings Room and felt this was the perfect place for our special day so didn't need to look elsewhere. Paula and her team were on the ball throughout (we only had eight months to prepare). Every time we had a meeting or amended our details we were provided with updated paperwork. Paula also nagged me (in a nice way) to get things done/organised to make sure nothing got missed. I have to say that it was an absolutely fantastic day. The room looked spectacular, food delicious, ambience amazing and how can I forget the staff. Everyone (bar/waiters/waitresses/DJ) worked extremely hard, all were pleasant/friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much bother. Also how can I forget our Toastmaster Chris, thank you for looking after us and our Guests. We cannot recommend this place highly enough, everything was just perfect. All our Guests have said what an amazing day they had and probably the best Wedding they have been to.

Attached to the King's Oak pub, this cafe serves a familiar fair. I had a bacon and egg sandwich plus a black coffee which cost £6. It seemed very popular with cyclists and walkers alike. Not so much with motorcyclists. Parking is a challenge and the pub car park costs £10 to park in. (Which is redeemed if you are a customer) on a plus side, there are public conveniences which are clean . Large outside area and in an open part of the forest.

Considering our current situation and how careful we have to be, the experience was pleasant and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I have no hesitation in recommending Kings Oak to any grumbling belly. Safe to say, we're happy to return anytime.

One of my favourite pubs.. after the lockdown was lifted visited twice in August.. once with friends and once on my own.. the summer was beautiful in 2020.. took a long walk.. and then had a pint of ale.. We stopped here for lunch and it didn't disappoint. We were served very quickly by a lovely waitress and the drinks arrived almost immediately. The food order was taken at the same time and again, this was delivered quite quickly. This was a surprise since the pub was very full, we were lucky to have arrived just as some people were leaving. It's clearly a popular place as a small queue developed at the door whilst we were there. We visited pre-COVID lockdown and so there were no restrictions in place at the time. The interior of the pub is very pleasant and the seating quite comfortable. The venue offers gastro pub style food and the menu is quite varied. The food was very delicious and fresh, with good portions. This is a pub (and hotel) situated within Epping Forest. There is a small snack bar to the left of the pub and also a quirky seafood cafe with outdoor seating. Hence the area is very busy and parking can be a challenge. Definitely one to look out for if you're visiting Epping Forest.

What can I say! We had literally the best time and the venue was so accommodating from booking right up to the day where my family gathered for what would have been our grandmothers 100th birthday. With over 50 of us the venue accommodated perfectly and we had a wonderful time! They were perfectly set up the staff were great and we had our own private room with bar which made it all so very easy! Would defo recommend for your larger gathering!

We had the pleasure of being one of the first people to experience the Winter Wonderland Pods today. The pub has made so much effort to accommodate their customers this year with all the Covid restrictions and I’m so sorry that despite all the time and money gone into setting these up, they are only available for the next 3 days before lock down. Hopefully they will be available after 2 December.I booked this on the spur of the moment as I really didn’t feel like obeying the Covid restrictions and sitting outdoors in the cold. It was a lovely treat to spoil ourselves and enjoy another delicious lunch in the warmth and beautifully decorated pod with the added bonus of our own music selection playing via the Bluetooth speakers. The staff were very attentive and made us very welcome. Such a pity lockdown2 has ruined their bookings for the next month. Fingers crossed for another visit in December.

My mrs and i recently had our wedding at kings oak and despite all the challenges with the covid and wedding preparations, kings oak hotel are amazing. Thanks to paula and her crew, we had an amazing and unforgetable day. We recommend kings oak hotel to either hire as a venue or even to just have a lovely lunch or dinner, the food is amazing.
