The cafe was clean, neat and tidy with the welcome we expected. Considering it was very chilly outside the cafe was lovely and warm.My pumpkin soup of the day was thick, hot and lots of it. It was great value for less than £3. The liver and bacon was a complete plateful and the super tasty gravy made the meal a real treat. We noted that they were taking bookings for Christmas lunch, 1, 2 or 3 courses and all were excellent value for money. This is something was will look into further as Christmas approaches.

The welcome was as usual warm and very friendly. I ordered breakfast with poached eggs that were delivered in good time as we sat outside The eggs were done to perfection as was the rest of the meal. The quantity was large and represented very good value for money.Sitting outside at the table we watched a fisherman catch a big fish and bring it in, with a bit of a struggle. He looked very pleased with himself.

Again the welcome was warm and friendly. Our order of tuna melt paninis was taken and delivered in good time. The coffee was instant, which for the price was to be expected. We sat outside in the warm sunshine looking at the fishermen doing their thing.Lovely break, good food and at a very reasonable price all served by ladies that obviously love to smile.I look forward to returning

The cafe is clean and airy plus the service and welcome are excellent. The egg and sausage baguette was cooked fresh and delivered in good time, and with a smile. My partners sheppard's pie filled the large plate but the flavour was rather bland and with more mashed potato than meat. The toilets need a makeover, to say the least, but overall for a no-frills cafe with a most attractive view of the lakes its a winner.

It's a traditional cafe egg bacon chips etc. Decent food. Not expensive , pleasant surroundings. Dog kennels. horse stables. And a fishing lake all are neighbours to this cafe. The access is a little bumpy. But I feel one could push a wheel chair their. May be a little difficult in electric chair. Toilets are basic. Free parking And pleasant staff work in the cafe

We were a party of 3 and played golf in the morning at Hobbs cross. My son suggested we have lunch in this place. I have lived in Waltham Abbey for 40 years and i had never of this cafe. Its location is great, tucked away in the back of beyond right next to a number of day ticket fishing lakes. We all orderd ham&cheese omelets, chips & sausage. The food was really good and the sausage was perfect. We washed the meal down with a cup of Latte coffee and we shall now certainly return in the near future when next playing golf.

I brought my family for a spot of lunch there was no one else in the cafe I waited 30 minutes for 4 full English breakfast my children asked for a milkshake witch was ridiculously over priced and was terribly made we asked for cheesy chips to take away to open them as see cheese on 2 chips over priced over rated and wouldn't advice anyone to eat here after telling my friend they then told me they had had a bad experience with portions and sauce etc would never eat in here again such a shame it's run like this when there's huge potential if someone was to run it properly

This cafe is the most wonderful hidden gem right in the middle of an oasis - lovely setting, fantastic welcome and the food is freshly cooked to order. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and they even cooked special kids food for my fussy grand children. It is the place to go for amazing food, fantastic service all by a stunning lake. A real treat!

The first thing about this café is that it open 7 days a week, from 7am winter and summer. It mainly there for the fisherman round the lakes, but people from the stables and businesses around use it as well. Its not just a fry up place but does dinners and sweets etcGood service reasonable prices, and freshly cooked, what more do you want

This was a great find and is reasonable quiet. The sausage sandwich was absolutely delicious and the hot chocolate was lovely. Great before or after a long walk in the forest!
