We visited as part of the Torquay United fans to watch the team play Hemel Hempstead FC. I have visited on a previous occasion, and was surprised with some of the reviews, so was interested to see what it would be like. On arrival we found a parking space, and then walking into the Beer Garden could see the queue for the bar reaching outside! It was packed inside and out. We had a table booked for lunch (three of us) at 12,30pm and we were shown to our table on arrival, even though we were 15 minutes late arriving. We decided quickly what to have for lunch as the place was so busy, and queued up to order. We waited around 10mins to get to the front of the queue to order lunch/drinks, hardly surprising to be honest. We ordered scampi x2 (had to change one order from sausage & mash as they'd run out.) and a double cheese/bacon burger. We were told that the waiting time was approx 1 1/2 hrs for food with it being so busy. We doubled up on the drinks so we didn't have to go back to the bar. We actually only waited 45minutes, which given how busy the pub was, I thought was excllent. The food was hot and presented well, and was enjoyed by all three of us. I would like to thank all the bar and kitchen staff for their great work on Saturday, as it can't have been easy. I'm pretty sure that they would have been happy when we had all left at around 2.45pm! Thanks again!!!

The worst food I’ve ever eaten in my life. Actually the worst. No exaggeration.

It is so lovely to see a lovely bakery with items all freshly baked on the premises. The pastry on all their range is amazing, tasty and just the right side of crisp. The fillings are plentiful and delicious. The cake range is eye popping with beautifully balanced ingredients. Lovely rolls and fresh bread. Staff are welcoming and polite and on dry days you can sit outside and watch the day go by. Now, I will talk about the coffee. This unfortunately was a great disappointment. Despite two of us asking for stronger versions, it was to be frank like dishwater. I don't enjoy saying this but I was too embarrassed to say anything at the time. Do not let this distract you from the bakery itself. It is treat to have it on the precinct.

Great service from Sarah J and Mercer our carver. My only criticism is the really dreadful music, really no 50s, 60s,70s,80s,or 90s. Just this constant Muzak made on a laptop in someone’s bedroom absolutely awful

3rd time in a row where item is missing. Ordered 4 burgers and chicken selects. Chicken selects were missing. No apology from staff or even manager called Ruth when I called them. When manager has no manners or respect for customers what can you say about staff. Worst place

Under staffed, poor service, rude employees cooking food, people queueing up were walking out. Management need to take a look at this particular shop's poor performance, compared with the Marlows shop which is very good.
