Ordered from them many times. They do nice big portion always fresh and delivered on time. It happened once that the meal was slightly to salty but in overall good food. I really don’t understand those 1 star reviews.

Bad tastimg food rude customer service one hour and a half wating for food and was not told it would be this long

Terrible food, lukewarm at best, ribs were lumps of fat. Chow mein was tasteless apart from far too much salt, and packaged very weirdly, with slimy undercooked chicken, beef I couldn’t chew and no prawns. Chicken balls were dry and splintery. Curry sauce was so thick it had to be spread like butter. The new owners have even less idea about Chinese food than the last owners who weren’t great either. Waste of money and will not use again!

Food was cooked ok and pancake roll was quite nice but I think the price of £3 for just one spring roll Is massively overpriced…I think perhaps paying a bit more and getting two rolls would be a much fairer deal.

Just had a takeaway with my husband, bean curd in black bean sauce, bean curd in sweet chilli, veg noodles and rice. The vegetables were fresh and crunchy with good flavours and the tofu was succulent with a lovely texture and wonderful flavours. Simply the best!

We ordered, took 2 hours to get here. Most food was average at best. Chicken chop suey smelt like farts and tasted even worse. Massive hair in food caused 5 minutes of gagging, both of us were sick. Rung them and after 10 minutes of convo, they deemed fit £5 return (for £40 order) and another £5 off when we next ordered with them - which will never happen, so gladly didn't take the offer. Don't go here.

Ordered takeaway. Just over £37. Took 2 hours to arrive. Arrived mostly cold. Very long hair in the food got wrapped around my uvula causing 5 solid minutes of gagging. Chop suey actually smelled like human excrement. Avoid at all costs.

used this place quite a few times over past three years and always been good ...im quite happy to drive to this one to order than use one nearer to me as its better quality ... never had a fault with this place ...

We regularly get our takeaway from here and enjoy the food. Each Chinese take away has it's own style and this is one of our favorites. We have always had great prompt service and found the staff patient.

Ordered online for delivery to my hotel. Gave the hotel name and postcode with instructions to call me when about to arrive and I would meet him outside reception. At 7.30pm got a call, couldn't understand the guy as clearly English wasn't his 1st language but deduced he was telling me he'd arrived so I said I would be right down. Waited outside in the drizzling rain, got another call saying he was outside, turns out he went to the wrong hotel. Called Happy Garden to complain, received no apology she just said she would speak to the driver. Eventually arrived at 8.05, the meal was lukewarm and not very appetising so threw half of it away. A very poor experience which I will not repeat.

I use this takeaway nearly every week and have never been disappointed. Would recommend this takeaway for a lovely meal.

Ordered chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken balls online. Order arrived in 30 minutes Plenty of chicken and nice sauces. My favourite takeaway now. Highly recommended.

I made an order for £27 worth of food at 1930 on a Sunday. The food didn't come after an hour, so I called up. They didn't have my order and had to request the kitchen to start it. I waited and waited. Finally after another 70 minutes the food arrived. I was told I could have some money back, but this didn't happen. I was passed feeling hungry. Upon opening the Thai style chicken I was very amused to find chicken in a heinz style chicken soup with a few chillies thrown in alongside the usual soggy veg. Dissatisfied to say the least. Poor customer relations. Poor quality. Very slow service. I'd recommend going elsewhere, or if pushed ringing in with your order at least.

Having placed the order online and selected the delivery slot of 18:30, we did not receive the food until 19:00. I phoned several times to enquire as to where it was! The food was almost cold and the lemon chicken was very dry. The half duck and pancakes needed more pancakes a sit was to be a main meal. Customer service was not very good given the delays.

Sadly the quality of this take away seems to have dropped. Had a takeaway today but the sweet and sour chicken peking style was only lukewarm and the sauce was very lumpy, The crispy beef was very chewy and again only lukewarm. The s8ngapire noodles were delicious but again lukewarm, Perhaps if you order on line and the food is cooked in advance it is not kept warm. So disappointing as this was our go to place 😟

This used to be a good Chinese takeaway but in recent years the prices have gone up and the quality has gone way down.Unfortunately, like many Chinese takeaways they are using some cheap kind of processed chicken that is spongy and unpleasant - for 5-6 quid a dish I want real fresh chicken!

been getting food from here for years. never had a bad meal. the salt n chilli chicken/chips/squid are amazing. won't go anywhere else for a Chinese as always find most places too greasy. can't really comment on delivery times as I always collect. every time I try something new here it's always great too.

first time to tried it. i have to say its really delicious food, especially, salt and chilli chicken taste so good. fast delivery , price is reasonable, i will recommend it.

We've been using this Chinese a good while and there have been regular menu reprints showing small price increases. Recently our bill has been around the £40 mark and obviously we've been happy with the food or we would've gone elsewhere. However, when I rang to place our order last night I was told the bill would be £62 - a 50% increase! We are creatures of habit and even after perusing the menu we always order the same meals! I asked them to read my order back to me, along with the prices, so I could see where we'd gone wrong. It soon became apparent that there was no mistake - mini spring rolls up from £1.30 to £2.50, crispy seaweed now £5.30 not £3.80 & egg fried rice up from £2.90 to £4.10?? All the mains up by around £1.50. I questioned why there was such an increase and was told 'that's the price the computer gives me, I just work here'. Needless to say I didn't go ahead with the order. We ordered instead from Treasure House in town. The food was lovely, the staff very friendly & efficient and the prices at the level they should be!

i have read a few reviews on here who gave this place negatice feedback but i wanted to try it anyways and give it my own feedback. i am shocked. i was expectinģ it to be poor and cold etc but i loved it. i went here with my girlfriend and it was her first time too. it was quite busy as it was a friday night but i didnt have to wait that long. i have waited longer before at other takeaways. the counter girl was quite friendly and the counter guy is cool too. we ordered over £15 worth of food. no complaints at all. from both me and the missus. i wouldnt mind coming here again soon

The food is very good and they have a max 5 hygiene scores on the doors. Food was only luke warm though. A hot food cabinet in their kitchen needed maybe to keep prepared meals hot.

Food is ok but is always cold by the time we get home, we only live about 5 minute drive from here. Chinese food is limited in Hemel, so we do continue to eat here and just pop it in the microwave

He vivido en China, y tengo que decir que el pollo Kung pao aquí pueden competir con los mejores restaurantes chinos en Shenzhen. El personal es amable y atento, la chica que lleva tu pedido es muy dulce. La comida siempre es muy caliente y delicioso, he estado muchas veces y me pareció un lugar estupendo para disfrutar de la hospitalidad y buen servicio y comida maravillosa en todos los sentidos. Mejor comida china en Hemel.

Nosotros lo probamos para llevar en la recomendación de un vecino (ahora estoy cuestionando si tienen cualquier paladar o cualquier sabor). La carne desmenuzada de crujientes de zanahoria triturada consistía principalmente, pimienta y cebolla y era básicamente dowsed en salsa dulce y amarga. No había calefacción en todo. No sé que 'chili' es en el título del plato, ¿verdad? La salsa del pollo satay brochetas Estaba aguada y sosa y el arroz frito especial era sosa y piezas independientes de pollo. anémicos Francamente, una de las peores comidas para llevar que he comido. No malgastes tu dinero en esta basura.

My husband and I regularly order from Happy Garden Chinese takeaway. They are always a bit abrupt on the phone and delivery takes a while but it is certainly worth the wait. We order salt and pepper chicken wings - they are amazing! The duck with green pepper in black bean sauce, beef with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce, crispy shredded chilli beef, chicken chow mein, egg fried rice, sweet and sour chicken balls, mini veggie spring rolls are all great dishes. If you order a meal it generally comes with free prawn crackers. Overall we rate this as the best Chinese takeaway in Hemel Hempstead.

Had the family over for a Mother's Day takeaway. When the food arrived 5 dishes were missing, we called them back straight away and they said they would send out the missing dishes ASAP. We waited 40mins and rang them to see where our food was. The man on the phone said that he had spoken to the chef and it was impossible that they had missed so many dishes from our order but said this time he would let us off and said the food was on its way. We felt outraged that we were accused of lying, it ended up in a tense conversation that we had made it all up. When the food had arrived they had put a note in the bag repeating the chef had not missed off our orders. It has put a big downer on our evening, and after all that the food wasn't that great. Will never use New Happy Garden again! So offended to have been called a liar.

The portions here are much larger than most of the other Chinese takeaways I've used in Hemel, although it's a bit more expensive but worth it, big chunks of meat in every dish. Easy to park outside and friendly staff. If you spend enough you get free prawn crackers (not very tasty though, more like cardboard) and a bottle of fizzy pop.I recommend the Kung po chicken, delicious and comes with cashew nuts on top. Yum yum.
