This place is amazing. The food is simply one of the best Chinese I’ve ever had. I regularly order and it isn’t very expensive for the quality it produces. I can see people complain about delivery times. I’ve personally not had an issue with this, but I also think people forget this is a small business not based in London but rather a small village with an infrastructure that’s not as good as big cities for delivery. With a takeaway all these problems go away. The staff is very very friendly, always greeting with a smile on their face.

The delivery couldn't wait for me to get outside,banging on the door then just got in the car,left the food outside very disappointing

Would have been a five star review however the only thing that lets it down is the seaweed. Not finely chopped or anywhere near crispy enough and no sign of seasoning on top. All other dishes were amazing, would highly recommend the crispy wontons.

Waited 1 hour and 45 min. Called and was told 15 minutes, 15 minutes and my order never arrived. They refunded but as it was late not much point ordering anything else. Very poor which is a shame as the food is nice.

Collection experience was ok. Prices were different online and staff wouldn’t honour the cheaper prices. Food was ok, maybe a little too salty.

Avoid this place ,ordered food for delivery arrived over a hour later (only live around the corner ) food was freezing cold with a layer of grease on top of both dishes .rang back and asked for food to be replaced the lady answered the phone informed me never to order again as they don’t offer replaced food .food was disgusting service was worse avoid at all costs !!!

Worse chinese I’ve ever had chips uncooked rice rubbery and cold ribs worst I’ve ever had … stay well clear of this place!!!!

They wanted to charge me an extra £3.50 for delivery after I had already paid a delivery fee and a service fee. I feel like I have been scammed. Don't go phishing for extra cash! It's dishonest and I will never order from you again!

Had a takeaway many 5imes delicious. Tonight it was disgusting and went in the bin, it was very quick so i presume the food hadcbeen sitting around for a while it was vile. what a Shane and a waste of money the prawn crackers and rice was nice.

Tripping on the canal & stopped for food. Unfortunately the pub didn’t serve on a Monday. Found Canton city delivered, so placed an order to the pub to take back to the boat. The food arrived doubly quick. As for the quality!! A1 top class. Can’t fault this takeaway. Thank you.

Fantastic food and friendly owners

Food has generally been okay. We have often collected our orders and the food has always been ready quickly. The Hong Kong Sweet and Sour chicken is good.

Waiting over 2 hours for delivery, cannot get through to phone line just rings out. Status says enjoy your food as if it has been delivered but hasn't been

About as useless as any take away could be. Waited for an hour and a half for a delivery (quoted 35-50 mins) only to get a phonecall asking me to collect. The bad reviews were correct....complete waste of time

Ordered at 6.30pm was told an hour. At 8pm rang Canton to chase up order, to be told it was out with the driver, another twenty minutes before it arrived. The food was tepid at best. Very disappointing as we have supported this business over a number of years but think they are over stretching themselves. Shall think twice before ordering again

Sorry to say this place has gone down hill over the past few weeks. The last 2 orders have had to go in the oven on arrival to heat up. To pay £6.30 for sesame prawn toast which was clearly 1 slice of thick bread with the topping on and cut into random pieces is just disgusting . I'm not sure what has happened to this restaurant but you have lost a loyal customer

Order took over 2 hours to come and I couldn’t get through to them on the phone to chase my order up…however the food was so nice! Tasted really authentic. Wish the portion sizes were a bit bigger!

Shocking 3rd time of ordering and got my order wrong ordered mini veg roll and got sent big rolls and then to get told its my fault even though I don't even eat big panic rolls then to get really aggressive to me and say what do you want me to do when you ordered them. Save to say I will never go back shocking china town tring so much better.

Tasty good value friendly and quick

Delivery service is appalling. Order at 5.55pm, chased up twice as was initially due to be delivered at 7pm and now still waiting at 8.15pm!!! The restaurant claim a "busier than usual evening" but over 2.5hours for a delivery is just not good enough! Especially as the order was placed outside of peak time. Really disappointed.

I have been on a calorie deficit since January 1st and have also extended Dry January into February so life has been pretty miserable! but once every week I partake in my one cheat meal, the choices were endless what could it be? I decided this week it must be CRISPY DUCK! Onto just eat I went my eyes lighting up like a kid at Christmas with all the delicious options, Crispy duck? yes please! Beef Chow Mein? Dont mind if I do! Sesame Prawn on toast? Oh go on then its cheat day! Unfortunately after selecting my order things took a bad turn......... 1 hour 10 goes by ...... well you know how it is Friday night they must be rammed 1 hour 20 goes by ...... ok my stomach is rumbling 1 hour 30 lets give them a ring .... oh its on its way 5 minutes they said 1 hour 50 ..... Im starting to suspect he isnt around the corner let me ring them again CC Let me put you on hold............................................................................................................................................................................................................... 2 hours go by I will call you straight back. 2 hours 10 CC:oh it appears we havent started to cook it yet! TL:I thought it was around the corner? CC: Oh no we havent started. TL: So you lied? CC: No I didnt? TL: What would you call it then? CC: Do you want a refund? TL: Well as its been 2 hours 20 I think so. So in synopsis do not get take away from this place if you want to eat food instead of a plate full of lies. Now onto Paco for that Duck!

Good food friendly service parking can be difficult

PLEASE BE AWARE CANTON CITY IS NOT AT PRESENT THE HOLDER OF A GAS SAFETY CERTIFICATE. WE WERE TOLD PERHAPS 6-7 YEARS. ALSO COULD NOT TELL US WHEN AND IF THE APPLINACES USED FOR COOKING FOOD HAVE BEEN SERVICED OR CERTIFIED IN THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME. THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO HSE AS THE OWNERS GRANDAUGHTER FEELS THAT US REFUSING TO ATTEND AND ASKING TOO MANY QUESTIONS IS GOOD ENOUGH TO LEAVE BAD REVIEWS. IGNORANCE IN THE LAW IS NOT AN EXCUSE TO NOT HAVE THE CORRECT CERTIFICATION NOR IS IT ACCEPTABLE PRACTICE

Disappointed. Although the order arrived within the time suggested and all the items ordered were delivered, most of it was warm rather than hot. Duck was rather pale and flaccid, had too much pineapple but not enough sauce. Egg fried rice average at best. Sweet & sour chicken balls were ok but the sauce a bit "flourey". Chicken in yellow bean sauce rather bland. Chicken chow mein pretty good though. BUT... wouldn't have ordered at all if I'd seen the recent Food Hygiene inspection... 0. In need of urgent improvement. It certainly does!

Ordered my food at 6.15pm, was told to collect at 7pm. It is now 8pm and I'm still standing in -1C waiting for my food outside because it's packed with others waiting too. Over an hour. Ridiculous.

BEWARE 0 OUT OF 5 RATING!!!!!!!!!! Just had a recent environmental health inspection. They scored 0 out of 5! This place should been shut down immediately. I don’t know why they are still trading. Clearly owner doesn’t care about any hygiene at all! They just want to cash in the money that’s it regardless of anyone’s wellbeing. Definitely should stay away from this place. If you go behind the scenes you be surprised what really goes on in this filthy takeaway.

Ordered a delivery at 7:41pm, advised due at 8:30 pm, this was then moved to 9pm- it is now 9:39pm (almost 2 hours since order and still not arrived!) I did phone prior to writing this review & was advised as my order was placed at a weekend, this was to be expected & no attempt to appease the frustration or prior customer loyalty- what a shame Canton City! You have certainly lost our custom when just an acknowledgement of the poor service & attempt to make good would have retained a loyal customer and prevented a poor review!

We ordered a takeaway on Friday. It’s Sunday afternoon and I’m still in pain and I’m bed with food poisoning. BEWARE.

Dont know what the food tastes like as we have been waiting nearly 2 hours and the food has still not been delivered.

Just had a lovely meal from Canton City, food was absolutely lovely, piping hot and arrived within half an hour of ordering.

Lovely service and food is amazing and great value for money i highly recommend

1.5 hour wait and then after paying for delivery still had to go and pick up the food as the lady on the phone didn’t have a clue, even when we arrived to pick the food up it still wasn’t ready... wouldn’t use or go to again there’s plenty of far better places around the area

Wanted to give this a try because it's on just eat website. Totally not worth the money. Unfortunately my squid was so overcooked that most of it was inedible. My mini spring rolls were also overcooked and tasted of cold grease. The beef was ok but nothing to write home about. I wont be getting anything from here again. Wish I'd have stuck to the Chinese in wendover which is much better.

We like the food here and it always arrives nice and hot. We have had a variety of dishes and they are invariably good portions, well spiced and not too greasy. We like their soups. The staff are polite and the delivery arrives within the time they promise, although the delay can vary if they are busy. Usually twenty minutes to three quarters of an hour. Not the widest menu I have seen but quite adequate, enough choice to allow a good variety when you order without being too repetitive.

Waited over an hour and a half, woman wouldn’t let me talk when I called so obviously we wasn’t the only ones calling to complain, cold food chewy meat, solid pancakes, won’t be ordering again,

Service was prompt and polite. The egg fried rice is very poor - completely tasteless and cold. The food was, at best, mediocre. Not recommended.

We ordered a takeaway from this company on Saturday the lady who answered the phone was not very friendly and very short waited 2 hours plus for the food which was not to bad but you should let your customers know the true delivery time when your ordering won’t be using this takeaway again.

We find Canton City one of the best Chinese takeaways in Tring, and have been coming here for a few years now. It's a small, unassuming place, not much to look at, and very little space to wait around inside, so usually phone & order ahead. Their food varies from average to very good depending on the dish, but always well cooked, very tasty, and pretty consistent, which is good if you have a few favourite dishes. Ordering can be a challenge sometimes, as there's one lady who can barely speak, or understand any English, and it's not always easy to park nearby. Service is usually pretty good, and never have to wait that long for our order.

Placed an order on the phone, and asked if prawn crackers came with meal or do I have to pay for them. I was talked over on the phone when I tried to repeat my order, and was mocked when I picked up my food on Collection. Got home and the lady had forgotten my curry sauce. My boyfriend went back to the takeaway, and was MADE to walk back to my house for more money for the sauce. I then went back with him to say that they had forgotten the item and reminded them I did repeat it on the phone. They didn’t even say sorry for any inconvenience. Food was lovely, however think they need to improve their customer service if they want a successful business.

Had quite a few take aways from this Chinese....always been very very tasty. I'd consider the food out of here as top drawer.... especially the chicken Chinese style which is to die for. No short measures either...always enough left over for breakfast mmmmm.

On weekends you might need to wait an hour or more for delivery but that just goes to show how popular this takeaway is. The duck is very good and I'm a big fan of the lemon chicken.

Food ordered at 1800 delivered at 2100. Quality of food disgusting as it had been sat in a delivery car for over 2 hours. We called the restaurant several times and they had no idea where our food was. We could not eat the food as we had no idea how it had been transported in those 2 hours +. Restaurant refused to even discuss refund. Will be contacting Food Standards Agency I can not emphasise enough DO NOT USE

Been going here for a while, always average but food seems to have dropped in taste and quality. Sporadic deliveries and cold too. We're off to try the other Chinese takeaway in the town which has better reviews.

Not particularly good or bad, just your average takeaway. We sometimes use it and it's probably average at best, but not a lot of choice in Tring.

If I could leave no stars I would. The food is great however. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced, tried to argue with me as part of my order was missing then asked me to collect. If I order a delivery it’s because I’m not in position to collect ie two children in bed. Then told me I was delaying the order by being on the phone. I appreciate they are busy but what happend to the customer comming first or the customer being right? I would not order from them again purely down to this, the food may be great but customer service to me is paramount. If anyone is interested I order through just eat ( who I know I know is not to blame ) but anyone who gives me attitude when I am the customer does not deserve my custom.

I HAVED LIVED IN TRING FOR A YEAR NOW AND HAVEUSED THIS PLACE ON NUMEROUS OCCASSIONS. The food is OK, it’s take away quality and it is cheap. Never had a bad meal in over 20 visits. It’s fast and it’s convenient with a varied menu. Can’t complain!

Generally this was a pretty good Chinese. Especially compared to others in the nearby area. We ordered several starters and mains. The food arrived quickly and it was hot. The king prawns were king prawns having read previous reviews. The squid was delicious. The only faults were that the satay chicken was a tad dry and the chicken balls were dripping with grease. But considering how much we ordered it didn’t seem that important. The rest was delicious. They even gave some free chicken dishes as well as the usual crackers

We love chinese food and unfortunately there are no chinese restaurants in Tring , mainly indian ones. Canton city is 2 mins walk from my house but being lazy we always phone and order for delivery. The different delivery people are very friendly and sometimes one of the chinese comes running round with food out of breath, can't understand a word of what he says . ! Sometimes the food arrives before we can even warm the plates up and other times there is a wait but then we understand how busy than can get. We have our favourite dishes but always change a few.

Great food generous size and reasonable price, fresh food etc staff friendly and delivery was quick, have ordered via just eat and was no problem at all ordered via phone or in person and no problems there either, it's a clean looking establishment and has hygiene award affixed to the wall for many years of being open, free chop sticks and prawn cracker always thrown in of course, great place can highly recommend to others. many thanks Canton many thanks again.

The food tasted stodgy and stale. The sweet and sour sauce was so gloopy it hardly poured from the polystyrene cup and seemed to almost glow! Lots of food left at the end and no inclination to keep any of it for the next day, which tells you just how poor it was.

Really bad service. I placed my order online and received nothing like my order. Pay only in cash and check the order before you pay. All I got as I very stupidly paid on recipt was " we deliver next time you have wrong order we deliver next time" no you really won't. 😎😎😁

Great food, you can pick up at the shop but they also deliver. Portions are good and prices are not bad. You can also pay by card but there is a 50p charge for less than 10 pound orders. Orders are prepared fast but a just to clarify it's takeaway only.

First time we have used this Chines takeaway and we weren't disappointed. We were told this takeaway delivers to Cheddington and they do, which is a bonus given the lack of decent Chinese food in the area that deliver. Our meal consisted of sweet and sour king prawn with boiled rice, chicken chow mein, chicken fried rice and chips. All very tasty. The food arrived after 40 minutes beating the time quoted and was nice and hot. We will use again.

As a repeat customer, I can honestly say I have never had a dud meal. This is not a gourmet take away, but it is good quality, fresh and authentic for the most part with generous servings. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Highly recommend for nights when you just don't fancy cooking but still want something reasonably healthy (can recommend the veggie fried rice!)

We have been a little disappointed with eateries down here since moving from Birmingham. We are getting there slowly but with a lot of disappointments en route. This takeaway is the exception, our first and most local Chinese takeaway. The food is excellent, really tasty and exceeding expectations. I miss yuk sung down here but we have bought from Canton City three times now and have not been disappointed.

I don't like to complain too much but - this was awful. Really awful. Inedible.

We have recently moved to the area and wanted to try a Chinese. Canton City was very tasty! We had a range of starters, duck pancakes, rice and a chicken main; all of which were very tasty, and a very reasonable price. The portions were very generous too. We were very pleasantly surprised and will definitely be ordering take out here again.

Very poor - ordered via Just Eat and they emailed to refuse our order - not even the courtesy of a call! Why say you deliver to Leighton Buzzard if you don't - disgusted

I ordered a takeaway today from this organisation over the phone, and I cannot fault the customer service at all, they were fantastic and the food was loely, fantastic, I would recommend it to anyone

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE IF ORDERING THROUGH JUST-EAT! I placed an order through Just-Eat with this take-away outlet as I have done before, This time the order was cancelled with the reason of too far to travel, obviously I told them I was a repeat customer, then the excuse changed to "we busy, you wait" I was offered the option to wait for my food until 11pm (considering I ordered it at 7:30pm I wasn't that impressed!) Just-eat cancelled the order on the request of the restaurant but had already taken my money ... I'm now left with no food, no money (as it wont be returned for 3 to 5 working days) and no way to order anything else ... LOOKS LIKE I'M NOT EATING UNTIL PAY DAY ON MONDAY ... THANKS CANTON CITY - YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICES TRULY SUCK!
