We really enjoy it every time we order from here and the food is really tasty! One thing to note when reading others reviews, there is a lot of complaints about delivery times. We collect and have well cooked, hot food when we arrive home! I don’t think it’s fair to judge the food being ‘cold’ when you can’t be bothered to go and pick it up yourself!

Food was cold, no flavour. Severe food poising 6 hours after. Phone them up and was told “No one else has complained, so can’t give you a refund.” No compassion from them what so ever!

First time trying out this place and I just wish I'd found it years ago! Without a doubt the best chinese food I've had in Hemel Hempstead. The staff are also lovely, kindly gave me some free prawn crackers too.

Would never leave a poor review but I’m absolutely shocked! I have ordered from here 4 times and each time there was something wrong with the order. Which I had always let go. The fourth time I ordered I asked for a prawn dish and got given a pork dish. So I called up the lady on the phone said the delivery guy is on his break after his break they will send my prawn dish. Half hour later I received it. I have just called to make an order and been told there is a note on the system that I have banned from ordering! This is because I didn’t give back the cold pork dish. I would hate to think that my food had been in the hands of someone else got cold before given to me! The delivery man did not ask for the pork dish back either. No responsibility taken what so ever after being so patient after always getting wrong or missing items from my order. I asked to speak with a manager but none available very disappointed with this poor unfair customer treatment!

Great takeaway, always very friendly staff who are very helpful with our dietary requirements and even with the occasional mixup (they get very busy sometimes) they're great with fixing it. Always quick delivery, hot food and very grateful for when we get dessert on the house!! :)

Very rarely leave reviews but really disappointed. Hopefully it was because it was Christmas Eve and they couldn’t cope but after an hour and a half received cold food, one less meal (but after a call apparently it was our fault) and the food was terribly bland- egg fried rice with no rice, chicken noodle dish no sauce or flavour at all and nothing got better. Really believe this place needs to make a much better effort for their customers.

I ordered a Chinese for my son. The portion was small and , very little meat in it. I've ordered elsewhere before and never had any problems. My son was ill during the night after eating this meal. He informed me!!

Really surprised by the number of 1 star reviews on here. We've been getting dinner from Apsley Chinese/Chung Wah on an almost weekly basis for nearly 10 years and have never had a bad experience. Food is tasty, with generous portions and delivery is always prompt. They are a little bit more expensive than some, but only slightly. We usually have Peking ribs, chicken satay and sometimes the crispy duck which are all excellent.

Always had good telephone service, nice communicative lady who answers the phone. They are obviously very busy - this is one of the best Chinese takeaways in the area of Bovingdon. Food arrived hot and is obviously freshly cooked (as opposed to some restaurants that have food ((the popular choices)) pre- prepared!) as it’s crunchy and the meat isn’t chewy. Prawns we’re delicious and very fresh. My family whoofed it down! Will use again, as good value for money and good service which means a lot to me.

I've travelled across the UK & the world and tried Chinese food from Alaska to a China Town in Japan, and this place takes the prize for worst Chinese food ever, the chicken wasn't cooked, it was lukewarm, had a rubbery texture and tasted like plastic, the spring rolls were mainly sloppy with one having just a massive wet centre and the prawn toast was squashed, hard from being over fried, covered in excess oil and just bad. The service and manners of the staff is great tho, but the cooking is terrible.

Best Chinese take away in the village with super friendly delivery service. Our usual dishes hot and sour soup, Singapore noodles, shredded beef & satay. Would be perfect if they’ve fried hot fun.

The meal we had last night 12/9/21 was terrible. Made the mistake of ordering too early. (6.15pm) Lunch time food reheated and refried. Pork balls chewy could not eat. Spare ribs, and egg rice again terrible. Just left it and put it out for the foxes in the garden who loved. Shame do love a good chinese.

Now my go to chinese as it has more options for vegetarian food then most. The crispy seaweed is probably the best I've tried too.

on saturday 6th march ordered chicken balls and a chicken curry, it was disgusting, the chicken had a hard crust on it tasted like it had been cooked the day before and then left under a grill to keep it warm, it all went straight in the bin, what a waste of money. If they send out rubbish food like that then the bad reviews will not bother them. I will never order from there ever again

Moved to the area not so long ago - we found this place and we LOVE their Crispy Aromatic Duck - my wife and I can not get enough - before I use to drive back to our local Thai in St Albans because their duck was pretty good - we have tried only a couple of their other dishes which we good but their DUCK is amazing and for that its a 5 star :) There service has been brilliant during these though CV19 times - I always collect as its only round the corner and the food has always been ready and hot when I have collected at the time they said.

Excellent!! This was our first order from Apsley Chinese and came highly recommended by our friends. Great food! We are located on the outskirts of Bovingdon and even on a Friday, delivery was less than an hour. I can’t express how polite and efficient the whole ordering and delivery was. Will most definitely order from them again!!

Could possibly be the worst take away food I have ever had only took 7 minutes and not surprised as the rice I had to cut in half with a knife and the non spicy beef chow mein was like chewing microwaved rubber .sorry for the review just being honest . £18.40 for food I threw away .on a good note the can of coke was ok

I've just moved to Hemel and this was the first chinese I ordered in my search for a good Chinese in the area, and I need look no further! With so many bean curd (tofu) dishes and all the classics, there's something for everyone! They're polite, helpful and friendly on the phone and delivery which is always a good sign. Portion size is great! Value is great! After having had this for dinner tonight I'm already planning what I'm going to order next time. Will be recommending to everyone I meet in the area!

Which portion of "House Special Rice" is hard to understand. Check your order before leaving the premises before leaving with the wrong order and then having to pay extra to have things fixed up remotely. Seriousy bad customer service!

March 2018, ordered egg fried rice, sweet&sour chicken balls and prawn crackers. Rice was bland and apparently free of egg, chicken balls were decent though. My issue is price, most places in London that costs around £9, here it's £11+ for no real reason. Service was fine.

Egg fried rice, hmmmmm what egg! Just bland brown rice. The sauce in my pineapple & cashew nut chowmein tasted like very sweet, cheap congealed orange jelly :-/ very disappointing, off to get a pizza now :-)

After recently moving to the area we thought we would try this Chinese, we only are a third, the bin ate the rest, the whole meal was the same colour, even the rice was brown, we felt sick and couldn’t eat no more, worst takeaway ever had.

We ordered a simple takeaway from this Chinese in Apsley, Chicken Chow Mein and Sweet and Sour Pork Hong Kong style, the noodles were tasteless and the Pork was tough and overcooked. When we asked for Soya sauce the staff thought we were speaking In a foreign tonge ! They sold us a plastic pot with plumb sauce, horrible ! Never again !

My experience of this take away was not great. Tasteless, bland and very very dry food. Probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had. When I called to enquire about the lack of sauce the lady said this is exactly how the chowmein should be. She quoted me her 14 years of experience and said that if I ever find a chowmein in a sauce I should call her. A quick google search reminded me that although chowmein isn’t swimming in a sauce it has a nice juicy colour with lots of nice veg and is definitely not dry. My dish looked liked boiled noodles with beansprouts and with some sad pieces of chicken - all boiled! Not even sure what made it authentic. Terrible argumentative service and bland food. Would never order again.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. My sweet and sour sauce arrived and was a jelly form. We spent £49.00 and the driver tried pulling a sneaky and charging £59 when pulled up he giggled and said no it is £49!! Is he for real?? Egg fried rice - cold. 1/2 duck - dry! WorSt part when I rang no appologies no quick solutions we have to wait over an hour for someone to come and get it back for our money to be returned. Hungary kids still. Joke AVOID AVOID AVOID

Generally the food is very good never had a bad meal always hot until now, this review is aimed at the manager who I found to be stubborn and not very amiable, the food took one and a half hours to arrive I rang the restaurant to complain that the food was not hot and to be fair they said they would exchange it but when you are hungry a concession on the price would have been a bit more practical.

The food is always fresh and taste we love going here. The staff are friendly and always give us a desert for free as we order so much. We would highly recommend this place

Best Chinese takeaway in the area

We ordered a takeaway over the weekend . The last few we've had have gone from bad to worse. The chilli chicken main was seasoned with tobasco which was just wrong. The pork with bean sprouts was all gloopy from too much corn starch. The meat in the pork balls was tough and there was no spice or fresh red chilli in the Singapore noodles. It's a shame but we'll be looking elsewhere for a Chinese in Hemel in future .

Always had good tasting food from here. Delivered on time and still hot and fresh tasting. The Duck is my favourite its always very fresh and not too fatty or rubbery like some take always, plus the sauce isn't too salty. The staff on the end of the telephone are always pleasant and courteous and the delivery drivers are very friendly.

Awful awful awful! We went here as our normal Chinese was closed one night and the chicken was soggy and the noodles were bland. What made it worse was all 3 of us were violently sick for a few days after. They weren't interested when we called to complain. Absolute disgrace! Avoid avoid avoid!!!

We had a takeaway last night and we thought it was amazing - packed with meat and flavour - really excellent. We had thought that they had become a bit mediocre but they have really got their act together and our meal was fabulous.

Not impressed at all. Both chicken dishes tasted weird; one really smelt off and the other was rubbery! Noodles were burnt - how can you manage to char the noodles!!! All in all, a very poor effort, simply avoid.
