My black Americano and toasted fruit bread was perfect. I was part of a group of eight on a Saturday and we were made welcome and had a comfortable, enjoyable visit. Will be going back this week.

We went to the Bee hive just after they had reopened under new management. It was on Friday 6 of January. To our surprise they had a music act on. The singer was great covering all types of songs. From 70s to up to date. We left very late and very happy. In fact so happy we decided to return Saturday night only to find that they had another live act. He was again a very good singer and made all feel very welcome. Staff so nice and by the end of the night just knew what we were going to order. Very cosy and with a warm feeling. We will be back and just can’t wait.

Really nice cafe, with a villagey feel to it, and the food is lovely too. It feels quite pricey for what you get (full English £13), but so does everywhere nowadays and I'd say the quality of the food and meat here is better than most places. Very nice and I'll definitely be back. Worth noting its always busy, but that's a good thing. Their coffee is amongst the best I've had too.

Traditional old English pub with some of the best food in the south east. This is our go to “local” from Great Notley, great selection of ales and ciders, plus your normal largers and Guinness. The house wine is always spot on. My reason for writing this review is the food, it’s just great. With no chain franchise to pay, the ingredients are always top quality, the menu is adventurous but supported by staple fare like the sumptuous hot pot, pictured below. The pub is dog friendly and the staff welcoming.

I visited Little Channels to try their valentines afternoon tea and was definitely not disappointed. A really affordable treat at only £25 per person (£5pp deposit required when booking). We were served an extensive selection of savouries which included a quiche, sausage roll, and sandwiches of coronation chicken, ham & cheese, and tuna & cucumber. The chicken one was served in focaccia bread which made a nice difference to traditional finger sandwiches that you usually get with afternoon tea. The scones were huge and warm so a good sign of being freshly baked! The sweet treats included a mini Victoria sponge cake, a heart shaped chocolate brownie and a chocolate covered strawberry. I feel like that was the perfect amount without getting too full. I feel like this was spot on for the money and both quality and quantity of food. The service was also the perfect mix of attentiveness and friendliness. Would recommend.

This was our first visit but often it had been recommended to us and we were not disappointed. The atmosphere and décor are lovely, staff are friendly and efficient and the food is lovely with an extensive menu. We had breakfast bagels and they were lovely and plentiful. We'll definitely return.

January 25, 2025, I attended the Burns Night celebration at Galvin Green Man, a historic pub and restaurant near Chelmsford, Essex. The evening was a delightful blend of Scottish tradition and culinary excellence. The event featured a four-course menu priced at £48 per person, accompanied by Scottish bagpipes and the traditional haggis ceremony. The dishes were thoughtfully prepared, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to seasonal and local ingredients. The ambiance was enhanced by the historic setting of the pub, which dates back to 1341, providing a cozy and authentic atmosphere. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, contributing to a memorable experience. While the food was exceptional, the overall experience of the Burns Night celebration at Galvin Green Man was truly enjoyable, offering a perfect blend of tradition, atmosphere, and high-quality cuisine.

Amazing Sunday Dinner with really excellent service, such friendly staff. Myself and my two children all had the Combo Sunday Dinner, which meant a decent portion of each of the meats. Veg was lovely, especially the red cabbage and there was a nice selection of everything, without too much of just one thing...which I liked. Room left for the best apple and apricot crumble I've ever eaten! Going back for sure! P.S. I didn't use them but my son said the toilets were the best he'd seen!

Called in on the off-chance. Lovely people. Although they had lost their chef the day before, they were doing their best to make sure everyone was fed. We had ham egg and chips which was very nice. They also had a walking group in, and were expecting a darts team in the evening. I wish them well. They deserve to succeed. 😊

Came here good Friday with family for lunch, service at first we were greeted by Sam who was lovely, waited for over 20mins for drinks ,ordered our starters and mains waited over a hour for starters then nearly two hours for mains ,after waiting so long I asked waitress/waiter about my husband veg as dish didn't have them on and commented 'I haven't got eighteen hands' shock is a understatement on lack of service and attitude, first time coming here now will be the last time !
