The best restaurants in Broomfield and The Walthams Chelmsford East of England

Our first Sunday lunch at The Hub today and it definitely won’t be our last. Food, staff and surroundings were all great, we felt so relaxed and welcome. An absolute gem, congratulations.

We had a wonderful lunch at Cheerful Chai. It was relaxing and the food and service were fantastic. The food was freshly cooked and hot. The menu was great. Most importantly, the cakes all looked delicious and tempting!! I selected the carrot cake, which was lovely, but I was tempted to go back for more!! (I resisted, because I was full!). We didn’t feel in any way rushed, even though it was busy and near to closing time. Cheerful Chai is a great asset for Broomfield, although I’m quite sure people travel here from further afield.

We went to the Bee hive just after they had reopened under new management. It was on Friday 6 of January. To our surprise they had a music act on. The singer was great covering all types of songs. From 70s to up to date. We left very late and very happy. In fact so happy we decided to return Saturday night only to find that they had another live act. He was again a very good singer and made all feel very welcome. Staff so nice and by the end of the night just knew what we were going to order. Very cosy and with a warm feeling. We will be back and just can’t wait.

We came here for breakfast. Got poached eggs or they were bit overdone. Was hoping for a bit more runny yolk. Otherwise food was okay. Cool little place

Best country pub in Essex! Great ales, tasty huffers, large outside area and beautiful location.

A beautiful venue with great staff & great food. We experienced the afternoon tea & not only were the options brilliant, vegetarian, diary free, gluten free etc. but the presentation was fab & the food tasted fantastic! We were provided with a top class service from the staff, who were friendly & helpful throughout our visit.

I was served by a young girl named Libby, a very lovely bartender, made for a very pleasant experience

Nice cafe with good selection of cakes as well as sandwiches, salads and savouries. Very good pain au chocolate and decent coffee. Service polite and friendly

Amazing Sunday Dinner with really excellent service, such friendly staff. Myself and my two children all had the Combo Sunday Dinner, which meant a decent portion of each of the meats. Veg was lovely, especially the red cabbage and there was a nice selection of everything, without too much of just one thing...which I liked. Room left for the best apple and apricot crumble I've ever eaten! Going back for sure! P.S. I didn't use them but my son said the toilets were the best he'd seen!

Called in on the off-chance. Lovely people. Although they had lost their chef the day before, they were doing their best to make sure everyone was fed. We had ham egg and chips which was very nice. They also had a walking group in, and were expecting a darts team in the evening. I wish them well. They deserve to succeed. 😊

Found this place on our way to another food place that we had searched for on Google. Decided to try here and am extremely glad we did. Welcomed by a friendly and helpful young lady, and then the service by all members of staff was pleasant, attentive, and helpful. Food was lovely, and the bartender made my wife a drink that she requested but was not on the menu! Our first time here, and we already said it will not be our last! Left very happy and full up!! 😊
