Cheerful Chai in Chelmsford

We had a wonderful lunch at Cheerful Chai. It was relaxing and the food and service were fantastic. The food was freshly cooked and hot. The menu was great. Most importantly, the cakes all looked delicious and tempting!! I selected the carrot cake, which was lovely, but I was tempted to go back for more!! (I resisted, because I was full!). We didn’t feel in any way rushed, even though it was busy and near to closing time. Cheerful Chai is a great asset for Broomfield, although I’m quite sure people travel here from further afield.

I love that there are food and snack options for small children and toddlers. I always feel welcome in This is an inclusive space! Even when busy it still seems relaxing. Good music too and the staff are always very approachable.

We've lived here for years but today we discovered Cheerful Chai for the first time and we were very impressed. It has a lovely, cosy atmosphere, very friendly, helpful staff and the drinks and cakes were really nice. Understandably it was busy which is good to see. We will be back!

Love this place! Myra the owner is so friendly as are the staff, and Molly my dog is always greeted with a lil treat. Great coffee too.

On entering we were immediately told off about our puppy who had inadvertently jumped up. This put a real dampener on our visit as we hadn’t been there before and were led to believe it was dog friendly. The toasted sandwiches were very nice but the bill for two hot drinks and two toastie was £16 which we thought a bit too expensive to warrant a return trip.

Great quality coffee: delicious, smooth and never bitter. Competes with the best high-end coffee shop. The brownies are exceptional and always interesting flavours. Brilliant range of snacks and treats for kids. Exceptionally child-friendly in general, with a little play area and books for them to look at. Lovely subtle decor gives a calming atmosphere. Best of all the staff are all lovely and genuinely friendly. Favourite cafe.

We came down to Cheerful Chai during half term for lunch and were not disappointed! The tuna toasties were fabulous and the coffee was hot!

Have had a few visits to the Cheerful Chai and it never disappoints, so lovely being able to have a coffee & cake while the kids play in the park which has just been re done. I wish all the parks had a Cheeful Chai haha

We visited the Cheerful Chai and the associated Angel Pavilion hall next door hired for a one year old birthday party. The catering for the party was provided by the Chai and what a wonderful buffet spread was put on. There was a great choice of both sweet and savoury dishes, and all were freshly made and delicious just like you get in the Cheerful Chai café. The lovely staff were helpful and everyone remarked on the quality of the food.

Great coffee with a variety of milk to choose from. Lovely staff very friendly and helpful. Would love a bigger lunch offer but great sandwiches. Very clean inside with a handy serving hatch for dog walkers

My family and I love Cheerful Chai and call in regularly for coffee and cake. We usually pick up hot drinks whilst walking our dog, so the takeaway hatch is an absolute blessing when walking her solo. They do lovely toasted sandwiches and great freshly baked cakes. Gluten and vegan options are a bonus for us too. Always service with a smile and quite often a nice chat. You can sit outside all year round too, which is a nice touch. This place is just what Broomfield needed. Hurrah!

We often visit Cheerful Chai whilst at the park and pop in for drinks and snacks. The service is incredible, all staff are friendly and cheerful, the premises themselves are exceptionally clean and well looked after and the cost of products are great value for money! So grateful this cafe has opened and is always busy. Would thoroughly recommend if you’re in the area.

What a great place for a coffee and a catch up. Lots of delicious food and drink on the menu and modern, comfortable decor. Friendly service too. Highly recommended.
