We visited to celebrate my daughter's birthday with other family members. We usually have mains and a dessert but, as we'd brought our own cake, had a starter instead. 'Soup of the day' with Artisan bread was very nice and tasty - unfortunately, I can't remember exactly what the flavour was. We decided to have pork belly for mains and, as you can see, it was very well presented and tasted great. As an added bonus, they also accept Taste Card (although you have to prior book to be able to use it), so the savings were appreciated as well. When it came to the cake, they brought it about and sang Happy Birthday, along with the other diners, which was an additional nice touch.

Every time I've been to this pub on a Sunday they've got the bill wrong at least the last 4 times I've visited for a meal this time they charged £5.50 extra for cauliflower cheese we never had so I would advise anyone having a meal at the blue lion to check the bill because its never to your benefit

Five of us were shown to our reserved table, a good-sized circular one. On a recent Saturday night, the restaurant was very busy, but there were plenty of serving staff on hand, ad we didn’t have to wait long for our drinks or our meals. The best thing about Turpin’s, of course, is the quality of the food. Everyone in our party had different items, and all were impressed with their choices. The proprietor and his wife are Italian, as were some of the waiters, and they asked several times whether we were satisfied. Our food was not expensive, I’d say average prices, but he quality makes a visit worthwhile The car park is big, and the restaurant is easy to find.

First visit to Royal Redgate, certainly won’t be our last. Warm & friendly welcome in lovely surroundings. Menu offered lots of choice with some usual pub fare but also some really nice Redgate speciality options. The BBQ pork burnt end nibbles were a real hit, as was my Tomato Tarte Tatin starter. Then moved on to the homemade Chicken and bacon pie; done differently in the Redgate way - delicious. Been driving past this pub for years not knowing what I was missing, if you’re doing the same, pop in, you won’t be disappointed!

I have to say it was one of the best lunches I've had. The menu choice was very good, it was cooked to perfection, the sevice was great and the portions were more than ample. I couldn't fault it and we eat out quite a bit. Will definately be going back soon.
