We went there with family and had a nice meal. I really enjoyed the food and beer.

Great place to eat. Well presented food.

Avoid if you’re booked for bottomless brunch! Me and my friends all booked (6 of us) for my friends 40th on a Saturday afternoon, upon arrival the pub was very quiet, no atmosphere no music, we were seated and given menus and a laminated terms and conditions which sort of set the tone from that point onwards! Your given 90 minutes for “ bottomless” brunch and told drinks can take up to 20mins to arrive during “ busy periods” the drinks also stop 15 mins BEFORE the end of your booking so in reality it’s only 75mins, our drinks were very slow we had to ask the waiting staff for more each time as our glasses were just left empty otherwise and they took a long time to arrive meaning in total we each received 3 drinks for the duration- of which the waiter tried to say we had to pay for the last round as it was outside the allocated brunch time. When we questioned this with the manager we were given the excuse drinks order took longer as they were “ busy” the restaurant had 3 other tables of couples - it was dead. They also ran out of mixers within 60 mins of us being there - as I said we were only a table of 6 having had 2 drinks each in this time so it seemed odd that they ran out. The food was ok pretty standard pub burger limited food options on the menu, the standard brunch package was £27pp or upgrade to £37pp to incl cocktails but the whole party has to upgrade if that was the case. Overall the atmosphere for a Saturday was rubbish no music, unfriendly staff, very strict “rules” and a disappointing experience all round for the price compared to some “chains” that offer a brunch experience. We all felt that they just aren’t set up for offering this and perhaps need to stop! We also had to stay after paying the bill to wait for necessary taxis home and we all overheard the waiting staff loudly commenting in ear shot how we had finished our booking slot and we’re just waiting for us to leave. We weren’t a rowdy table in the slightest and actually given the service were very polite, having worked in hospitality myself the staff were very unprofessional and myself and my friends wouldn’t recommend and won’t be returning - it turned what should have been a nice birthday celebration into a hellish 90 minutes.

The food is amazing. Pies unlike any others - spherical, full of meat and very tasty. The chips are pretty good too!! We just call it the pie pub!!

Some of the best food you will have in the UK!

First time we have been here in quite a while after a bad experience with steak. It was our wedding anniversary . So we thought we will go here as surely the last time was a fluke . How wrong we were. This time I ordered my steak medium well. When I cut in it was pink all the way through with a lot of blood. I told the waitress who took it back . Another waitress brought it straight back out with the menu telling me that it says medium well is slightly pink I said yes but that isn't that's pink all the way through . So they took it back and it was cooked slightly more . When it came back out it was how it was supposed to be. BUT the steak itself was poor quality very gristly . I have been going to the Redgate for many years and have always had great steaks there until this chef came along. When I order medium well it should be slightly pink in the middle not what I got. Ruined yet another anniversary meal . Gave them benefit of the doubt but no won't be going back . Update in response to your response as there's no where to reply . You did not on my previous visit tell me to ask for it to be a little more cooked . I asked for medium well and that is how it should've come out what I got was medium . Second I don't appreciate having a member of staff being sent out by the chef with my meal and the menu to tell me that is what I ordered . I know. Medium well when I see it and that certainly was not. Also when a member of staff came over to ask how my steak was after being rectified I did tell him that the steak was awful that it was full of gristle and hard to chew. I ended up with a bad stomach . Also if I didn't want any pink at all I would've asked for well done I think you need to read your descriptions on your menu again as it states medium well as slight pink mine came out very pink all way through with lots of blood . If you and your chef can't take criticism then you are in the wrong business . As for other family members their reviews are their own and have nothing to do with me and I did not know they had left them so I think bringing that into my review is uncalled for and unprofessional. I never had problems with your steaks until this chef came in they used to be beautiful and I've been going to the Redgate for years . Such a shame. Also looking at your menu it says medium well is supposed to be " dull pink centre " mine came out red throughout with a lot of blood. Which I class as medium rare.

The steak was under cooked. I asked for a medium well steak which came out medium. Roast potatoes were hard beef which should have been medium rare was in fact medium well. The chef does not like criticism I have been eating steak for over 40 years and I know what steak looks like. They sent the waitress over with the menu on how it should be cooked completely different from what it was whatever happened to the customer is always right. I have been eating there for over 13 years but I will never eat there again and also it was our anniversary

TBH I think most of our experience was due to being seated at the front of the pub with the only other diners being a couple with an agitated child. Waiting staff seemed focused on main dining area.

I visited on Monday and opted for the homemade chicken pie, the waiter and waitress were both very helpful. The service was great and my food came out hot and in good time. I was also able to take advantage of their current Monday offer. I will definitely be returning.

Lovely pub/restaurant and great food, only down fall I would say is some staff seem a-little stressed, so not as welcoming and can be off putting to choose this place again!

Only had a drink here today and it was fairly quiet but it was clean and the host was friendly and polite. Normal prices for drinks and feels really quite nice and welcoming here.

Heard good reports for this place, so I was slightly disappointed with our visit. All I can say is that it is just ordinary. May have been an off day, so I will try again.

Staff welcoming, food good, only downside was price of wine. £26 for a bottle of average Chardonnay. Unacceptable. Spoiled what was otherwise a pleasant experience.

Nice pub and quality of the Sunday roast was great. Would be even better if they could offer vegetarian roast potatoes and an offering of stuffing! But food was so good, would definitely be coming back! Came back and had lunch on a Saturday, great options and tasted great. There seemed to be only one staff member looking after the tables so service was a little slow.

You guys either need to check your food descriptions or update the photos on the website. I ordered the Med pizza, and it was missing half of the toppings. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves, definitely not worth £15.

The BEST pies ever! The Royal Redgate is an absolute must for dinner and drinks. The food is delicious, chef Ricky is a genius. The staff always look after you, thank you to Sean and Brandon for making us feel so welcome and cared for!

Burger was dry but the rest was great, little man ate all the pizza so must of been good. Mrs like the camembert too. Took a while even though only us in there. Its always an okay meal just never wows me im afraid.

There is always an opening statement, and im sure you'll agree you have to go and check it out. But l have to admit once you walk in it feels warm and looks divine. A modern look to an 18th century pub. You are greeted with a welcoming smile..the staff are plesent and in a modern dressed uniform. So l was slightly excited to try the food that comes with a high standard. As my children have been here before. And l was not disappointed. Read my review, l hope that you attend and enjoy the experience that l also had. Once ordered, food came out as fast as a blink of an eye! The food plated, propositioned and well presented just like a 5✨️ hotel restaurant. Shame l did not take a photo...it was as delicious and divine, just as they state in their script " just like home made food" the taste was out of this world. l can only say the chef must have come from the hotel industry!. If so this establishment has one of the best chefs around. The pastry just melted with every bite, the filling of Stake Ale and Leak again just melted away, the taste unbelievably mouth watering. The stake filled the pastry, there was no room for anything else amazing. The mash well presented, light and just like butter. Blended twice lm sure! It came with a side of greens and again presented to a high standard. And l will say it again 5✨️ Chef, you and your team must be proud of your achievements. Though ordered the Stake pie the rest of my family thoroughly enjoyed all their food also. Amazing. I was pleasantly surprised with your food and fast turnaround with service. Ironic that 7 minutes into our booking they were rushing us for a food order and came over 3 times to inform we had to order within first 15 minutes..and then took 45 to bring mains out 🤣 no crackling with pork roast, no stuffing with beef. Overpromised and under delivered.

Had a lovely meal here tonight. We had a mix of menu and specials. The scallop starter was amazing, along with the chicken & risotto. The staff that served us were very friendly, and the table was cleared quickly. Will definitely be returning and certainly recommend

Food was OK, belly pork very greasy thou. Service was slow considering it was very quiet. No background music. No atmosphere at all. Not very special considering it was a birthday meal. Will not be rushing back.

The food here is to die for. We had the baked salmon, confit pork belly, and the BBQ burnt ends. It was all amazing. Highly recommend.

Was okay. Wouldn't go out of my way. But the food was very good, nice staff, but a bit expensive for the setting at £14.95 a pie. I'd expect it to have more of a restaurant vibe and a bit more snug, Choices on the menu were very limited, but very tasty. But all in all a good night and I'm probably being harsh, I just expected it to be a bit more up market from the outside, website and menu prices.

Had an unscheduled pit stop here after getting a flat tyre. It was around midday and they had a lot of bookings coming in but managed to squeeze us in. Food: For lunch we had some baguettes. Quality 👌👌. Steak was so well cooked and it was so filling. The fact they come with chips is a winner. Had a sharing platter for desert (very good value for money) which was amazing however it did have a hair in it. The staff came over and took the hair from the inside of the cheesecake and examined it- not sure if they thought we planted it. There wasn't an initial apology just an offer to remove from the bill which we agreed as it put us off. There was an apology as we paid the bill however. I'm not sure the gentleman's customer service was the best. I'm not marking them down as it does happen. Wasn't dealt with the best and they were short staffed- service was slow. But overall greatful we had some lovely food and didn't have to sit in the car. We would come back.

Broke down on my motorcycle on the 26/11/23 Hammering down with rain. Late at night. They allowed me to keep the bike there over night until recovered the next day. Absolute stars. Thank you for your kindness. Lovely Restaurant as well. See you again.

We were booked in for 2 o clock, the food was pre ordered but didn't arrive until 3 o clock.Pork ribs ordered but pork belly was served. One of the pork belly portions was completely fat and not edible.Upon paying I was asked for four pounds extra, I queried this and was charged the correct amount. In all not very good.

Veg was cold and the beef stringy. They didn't have a table booked despite booking and confirming. We went as a group and couldn't sit with them.

We went to this dog friendly pub on a Wednesday night, the staff were attentive and friendly. The food was excellent and well worth the money. For 3 course for 2 people we paid around £70 and it was worth every penny!

Beware of the service charge if your over 4 people nearly ended up leaving £25

Took visiting family here for a meal. We arrived almost at the end of lunchtime but we were accommodated without fuss and the steak and ale pie was delicious. Will return again.

Found this pub on the A5 after I ended up somewhere near Nuneaton. Friendly staff, great service and good food. I had a Ploughman's Lunch, with generous portions of cheese and ham hock along with pickled onions and a basket of bread, followed by some tasty vanilla, salted caramel and pistachio ice cream. Would go back ... if I could find it again!

First visit in a long time, nice beer garden at the rear with plenty of parking. Inside it seems fine, was busy on the day, drinks a little pricey, but seems to be a decent place in the short stop that we made.

Took the family here for lunch, it was a quiet Thursday so no reservation required. The food is very good, we had viewed the menu on line in advance so knew what we wanted, everything listed was available, it's fresh cooked food which was served in a timely fashion, all the meals were good with 6 empty plates at the end so that's always a good indication. Dessert followed which was also good with a sharing option if required. Usual drinks available and as a Marston's outlet Pedigree beer was on cask. Small car park at the front of the pub adjacent to the A5 road with a much larger car park at the rear on the A444

We go there for the pies. The fact that they haven't yet started adding a "voluntary" service charge to the bill is also a credit.

It a shame when you go and it’s not busy having to wait over a hour for your food and when ask what is happening all you get is “ be ready in a minute “ . If you’re hungry don’t bother as the service is just slow

Service was really lovely but staff were far too busy. Although the place was virtually empty they were setting up and it was a struggle to ask for things as were restocking. I don't blame them, they were working hard, but an extra team member was needed. Food was also really slow, we waited over 40 mins and at the time of order were the only ones eating (people with drinks outside and in bar area). The menu was great, but the food was far, FAR too salty for both of us and it actually made me feel sick. The extra green veg was a small portion of cabbage and 1 piece of leek. I personally like a LOT more veg than that. The pie itself (apart from the salt) was good and the pastry was lovely. The environment was clean and lots of light and space, staff were friendly and professional, so I've tried to be kind with the stars but in honesty, I won't be going back.

Very nice place. Very friendly staff, nice spacious layout and great food. Burnt ends were fantastic, very tasty chicken, bacon and cheese burger and I chose a selection of ice cream scoops for dessert that were spectacular. Great value for money I thought and nice atmosphere. Recommended.

I stepped in during a long journey and was blown away by their steak and ale pie. Full of meat and utterly rich and flavourful. A little on the pricey side but I think you certainly get what you pay for.

Met for lunch. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. The food on offer is fairly typical pub food - steaks, pies, burgers, baguettes, chips, mash... Some salads on offer. Went for a steak and Stilton baguette. The bread was delicious and crisp, the filling excellent. Personally, I would have preferred more salad to accompany it instead of the chips (though I did enjoy them!). The coleslaw looked homemade and tasted great. Coffee served promptly.

We found it dear for what we had,the meat was really nice but I for one only had a small dish of mash was like what you get from the supermarket ,for almost 16 pounds for mine very dear, could go on but I won't sorry to say won't be rushing back. A few went to McDonald's after because still being hungry.

Warm welcome, friendly staff. Wide choice on the menu, all courses served quickly, but we didn't feel rushed at all.

We were recommended to go here. Both had the pies, mine was chicken, bacon and thyme. Beautiful meal and very filling. Excellent value for money. Would return to try something else.

The mash costs £3.50 for a size ramekin volume Total rip off Worth 20p. Head waitress just shrugged her shoulders.
