Turpin's Bar and Grill in Hinckley and Bosworth

Great menu, something for everyone. Food was amazing and staff so helpful. Good choice of drinks as well including cocktails. We will be back

This was our first time here on recommendation of friends. Upon arrival it is a very impressive establishment and we were very excited by the prospect of the food. The menu contained a good selection and there was plenty for us to consider. We ordered a stuffed chicken breast with bacon, a steak and ale pie and a side salad. On arrival the food looked good and we tucked in with gusto. Sadly the food did not match up to it or the venues first impressions. The pie was ok, nothing more, the steak was grisly and chewy in parts, though some bits were beautifully tender. The taste was a little bland. Just an ok pie and chips, we had hoped for more. The chicken and bacon came on a bed of pasta. The chicken was very dry and the bacon made it extremely salty, the pasta was in a light sauce and was ok. Again ok but we were expecting more. The side salad came with a very light dressing despite us asking for extra dressing. Catching a member of staff to ask for more dressing was impossible. It seems that staff are taught to not give any eye contact. They look down at all times. It took 10 minutes to get some attention. Turpins to us was a let down. It certainly looks the part, though i do worry about the noise levels when full. However the food really didn't rise above ok, which at the prices charged seemed somewhat underwhelming. I doubt we will return as there are better value places out there, where the food isas good if not better.

The food was excellent, all 8 of us had great meals. I had the seabass and Gnocchi which was lovely. Others had pizza, pork and the half chicken. I read reviews before and there aren’t many and are mixed. I’d go again and was impressed.

My visit to Turpins Bar and Grill was fantastic! The food was top-notch, and the ambiance was perfect for a relaxed evening out. But what really made the experience special was the attentive and friendly service from Aura. Her kindness and professionalism truly elevated our dining experience. Highly recommend Turpins, especially for Aura's exceptional service!

I ordered a sirloin steak which arrived very quickly and the taste was 10/10, the waiters were very kind and friendly and made some very good recommendations for the steak served as well as the wine and also for the dessert. The food was lovely, when it came! The service was slow and the staff were not particularly friendly. We were greeted with a list of what wasn’t available. Disappointing for two teenagers who were looking forward to pizza! When it came the food was well cooked and very nice, but I’m glad we weren’t in a hurry!

Went for a special family birthday. Bar staff were very young and inexperienced. Had to show them how to make a martini! . Waited a long time for food and between courses. Ordered a seafood sharing platter which arrived at least half an hour after everyone else’s food, despite being reassured on 2 occasions that it would only be ‘3 more minutes’ . A waiter assured us that it wouldn’t be charged , but another quite surly waitress offered a free drink instead as they couldn’t take it off the bill. She insisted on knowing who had told us this in the first place. Overall good food but poor service and waiting times too long, staff need more training on customer service, no attention to detail. In no hurry to return

Service is slow and poor, staff appear unhappy and disinterested, the food actually wasn’t too bad but why put a specials menu out if you havent got half of it left! Excellent quality, large portions, good friendly service. Battered fillet of cod and chips was slightly inaccurately described in the menu, should have read 1/2 battered whale and chips! Joking aside though, all the food was very well cooked and great service.

Very disappointed I had salmon salad, plate was full of half !!!!!!! Of an iceberg lettuce. Three half’s !!!!!! Of cherry tomatoes three half’s !!!!!! of cucumber. Very poor salad salmon was lovely. Staff are miserable will not return.

Service was appalling. Staff didn’t even want to acknowledge you to seat you to your table when you arrived would just avoid eye contact. We had a table for 5:30 and ordered off the specials menu to which we was told there wasn’t any left how this is the case at an early table I don’t know??… not really any point of putting the specials menu down. Service was slow, no side plates for the sharing platters. Mains were chucked down and staff quickly ran off before we could ask for any sauces. Food was bang average. Wont be returning

Having read some of the reviews we were a little sceptical but the meal my wife and I had last night was absolutely excellent. It was full so we anticipated there would be a little wait but not at all. We will certainly return.

Service Awful with average food!!!! Having been numerous times in the past, I put the last time I went to the restaurant and the poor service down to a one off. However after going this evening I will never go again whilst the same management team are running this. The service hadn’t been great during the meal from the girl who took us to our table , didn’t make eye contact and virtually threw the menus down, and I had to ask to have our order taken. I’m allergic to caramel and when my apple tart with ice cream came out covered in a gold sauce I asked the older lady if it was caramel. She snapped it was and I explained I can’t eat it and that it was not mentioned on the menu, to which she snatched it off the table and stormed off. She acted liked a petulant child and would offer no apology . If I was the owner I would have your team on a hospitality and manners course quickly!!

All our steak was overcooked, management reaction was disappointing to say the least. Never really had such a terrible response from management. Chef came to the table to say there was not a problem with steak and was constantly asked if I would like another meal. 🙈 Anyway it appears that the lighting where we were sitting was a bit bizarre. Shine a light on the steak and it looked more pink. What was that all about and why was not Turpins staff not aware of this. Anyway a very disappointing meal, and won't be returning very soon.

We wondered in with family on Tuesday evening, table of 6 guests and was immediately greeted by the young girl and incredibly aroma of food.The restaurant was filling up quickly ( it was 7:30 pm Tuesday) but the food and service very promptly and professionally. We really recommend!

Utterly disappointing!! Had a booking for 11 people to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday. The food was very mediocre & cold. I tasted my daughter's burger as she thought something tasted off & she was right,it was sour! The minced beef was clearly off! We booked a table here knowing we had a 90 minute window. Food was ordered within 15 minutes but we had to wait 45 minutes for it to arrive despite the restaurant being less than half full. When it did arrive, the food was very good with generous portions. I ordered the char grilled tuna in a red Thai curry sauce. Whilst the tuna was lovely it was overpowered by the sauce! We will visit again but we'll make sure we have plenty of time.

Service slow waited about 10 minutes for my glass of wine saw it sat on the bar others in the party had been served their drinks. The sharing platter was good, however my main of belly pork which was fine, the mashed potatoes where cold and the roasted parsnips were cold supposed to have been roasted ? looked like they had just been blow torched plenty of empty tables so not overly busy
