Called for a snack at lunchtime found there was a funeral wake taking place but was still very good service and the food was excellent 4

What can I say about The Devonshire. From the moment we stepped through the door you could feel the warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were very lovely and attentive. Nothing was to much trouble. There was no wait time at the bar or for our table. We oredered the blade of beef and the lamb shank. The service was quick and efficient despite being busy. The food was cooked to perfection, beautifully presented and full of flavour. The meat melted in the mouth, it was delectable. Nothing was over cooked or under cooked. For desert we both had the lemon sicilian baked cheesecake, beautifully presented, full of delicious flavours and very light. Overall a fabulous meal. I would recommend booking early as it gets very busy very quickly, but I can highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant. It's also very reasonably priced. Can't wait for our next visit ❤️

This place is fantastic. I have visited roughly four times a year for three years and I have always had a great experience, hence the reason I keep going back. The food is always great and the staff consisting of a lot of young members are always friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I visited this morning and was made to feel so uncomfortable that I cannot see myself going back. The man in charge was extremely rude and disrespectful to his staff, especially one lady who I think could be his wife. Not only was he disrespectful he was loud, stomping backwards and forwards throughout the cafe due to a mix up with place settings, regardless of the fact that he had customers. The whole deminor of several staff members changed when he started raising his voice and from their reactions I assume this is a regular behaviour. To the man in question I would advise that you treat your staff with respect, even in times of stress being a good boss and providing a good customer service should be your priority...not giving into your anger.

We've been here quite a few times and the food and welcome is always excellent. We went today for a carvery. There were pigs in blankets which I thought you could just take one. I got a resounding "NO!" from a little young woman with glasses on. When I said to hubby "ooh she said no" She said "I was talking to YOU!" She could have said it better than that. I was taken aback by her rudeness. Don't let staff like this ruin what is normally a lovely pub with lovely staff. There were no signs up saying you can't have pigs in blankets, so I wasn't to know. I offered to put it back, but she said " Well, you've touched it now!" Ignorant, bossy little person. She needs to learn some customer service or get sacked. The boss was on holiday at this time, or I bet she wouldn't have spoken to me that way.

Not been for about 1 year. Today went for Sunday lunch. Had a drink in the bar before going to our table. Had the roast beef (pink). It was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Couldn’t fault all the accompaniments. Ordered cauliflower cheese as an extra and it was so flavoursome. Me and my husband always rate places with “if it’s better than we cook at home then it’s worth going back” and we will disunity be going back. It was a lovely dinner, I didn’t have room for a pud. All staff lovely and very friendly.

Disgusting, dry and burnt, the meat definitely is not fresh today, never again will i visit the place again

Luvly food good service But small portions and advertised as 25% off charged full price untill we enquired spam and tried to rip you off not nice experiance

Been here a few times now as my daughter lives closely with her family. Every time we go I am struck by just how friendly the people are. An experience that is not so common these days where it is a community local where everyone seems to know each other - and good beer as well.

We order breakfast cobs from here every Saturday morning. Lovely food, they also bring it around to the shop for us. great service, great food
