We were also part of the Family group on Sunday 26th November reviewed by AB C. Are you sure you were in the same room? While I felt similar about the amount of veg, I must say that I am not of slight build and most of us are all big eaters. While 1 board of veg may be enough for Four small eaters this was not the case for us. With this said, this was a busy room and the staff did all they could for us. I actually commented to my Wife how nice the dining room was. It was a happy, cheery atmosphere where the majority of us were completely satisfied. Room Great, service very good. Staff Friendly and polite. As for waiting for drinks, I had a short wait at the bar as we all had to order drinks there. The staff were serving both bars not just ours. With this said there were seperate tabs for each individual group so no waiting to pay or for change either, (thanks Anne) Like I said before, I think AB C must of been eating somewhere else. Well done Yew Tree Thanks 👍

Visited the Yew Tree Inn twice in recent months and neither time have they been serving food yet the website displays multiple menu’s. Unsure of the first reason (possibly a broken oven?) but the second was due to a lack of staff apparently. A number of beers were unavailable although the overall selection is good. Asked for a Prosecco but was told there were no small bottles so seemingly we couldn’t have it. Nice looking pub with a cosy feel. I’d heard really good things about the pub but sadly I’ve never seen or experienced most of them.

We had a great meal, and the beer was good, too. The staff were very friendly. Great country pub.

If you find yourself driving down to A52 on the way from Ashbourne and you see a sign for the Yew Tree Inn you need to make your way there. You will find, like we did today, the warmest, friendliest welcome to a fascinating pub. We only stopped for a short break but the service was excellent and the menu looked very tempting. We will certainly call in again next time we are in the area and recommend that you do the same.

Came here at the start of February and the breakfast was awful. Nothing was topped up all the food was cold. The staff looked over worked.

Friday 21st February 2025.... We pre-booked a table for 8 people at the Rose and Crown, Barlborough, to celebrate our elderly mum's birthday, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. Despite arriving on time, we had to wait over an hour and 20 minutes before our food arrived, and that was only after we asked twice for someone to take our order. There was another large group dining at the same time who seemed to take priority, which left us feeling somewhat neglected. When the food did finally arrive, it was just okay – nothing particularly special, especially after such a long wait. To top it off, when it came to ordering desserts, many of the options were unavailable, which further added to the letdown. Overall, it was a pretty underwhelming experience, and we were hoping for better service for a special occasion. Worst service I`ve experinced in a restaurant.

Fabulous lunch . My partner had the venison which looked and tasted fantastic. I had the Pilsely club sandwich and was very tasty . We shared the rhubarb crumble and again was absolutely delicious. Cannot fault the food and service. Thank you
