Beer only... Scarcliffe This is one of the best ever.. The Beers are Fabulous and the Open Fires are warm and welcoming as are the superb Bar Staff...The local punters are super friendly to...I wish they did payment on Card as I could easily have had more in this absolutely brilliant Country Pub...

The quintessential country pub. Always busy despite not serving food. Plenty of parking space front and rear. A good selection of drinks at reasonable prices. A great social atmosphere and fantastic, friendly staff. A roaring fire in the winter and a large outdoor area with plenty of tables for the summer make it a pub for all seasons. They even hold a classic car night twice a month in the spring and summer where you can look around a myriad of interesting vehicles, including tractors!

My first time today with a bunch of friends. Arrived for breakfast and returned in the evening. Great hospitality and selection of beers! I was nominated driver but still had a great time. Shout out to neave I think! Excellent behind the bar, especially dealing with my tipsy mates James Roe

A fabulous traditional country pub with real fires, real people meeting up for conversation. Cosy, comfortable and just fabulous. Dog friendly with a big new heated conservatory to enjoy, lots of outdoor seating too, great for the warm days/evenings. The staff are happy & welcoming

It's a quiet countryside pub that I've known for years. Definitely worth a stop for a drink. You'll not be disappointed by the friendly service.

Tried to visit tonight for the first time, nice outdoor area but pub won’t take card, so couldn’t get a drink. Partner was commented on by rude clientele when he went to order . Clientele and not being able to buy drinks have meant we won’t return sorry, it doesn’t feel welcoming to newcomers.

I had a wonderful time at this charming pub! The customer service was top-notch, and the drinks were reasonably priced. The atmosphere was perfect, creating a cozy and enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!

Good selection of beer's pleasant staff and nice to see it still has a good clientele base and as a bonus it was Thursday night local farmers with old vintage tractors. 10+ on show so good night.

After a long walk we called in with dogs and were made very welcome in the conservatory.There was only one member of staff serving but she was very efficient so we didn't have to wait long.Would recommend and will definitely go again.

Traditional pub with a great atmosphere. Called after work on a Friday it was busy. They don't serve food as such but they do havewe pork pie with mustard, which we really enjoyed with a pint.

This is a friendly and cosy traditional village pub. During the summer months they host a "classic car" gathering every 1st and 3rd Thursday evening of each month. The only reason I have given 4 stars instead of 5 is that they only accept cash. They do not accept cards. For me the most important thing is that the toilets are always clean.

I'd just arrived in Chesterfield from Australia, and on the very first day I met a great local bloke, Ken. He took me too his three favorite pubs. The Horse and Groom was our first stop. The section we entered was a quaint, cosy little area. A fire place there for the cooler evenings and an excellent choice of beverages. And friendly staff. A lovely place to be in and to enjoy the atmosphere.

Nice staff. Lovely place to go for a drink. They have a quiz on a Sunday.

Nice pub in good location but out side area relatively small and not really suitable for car shows and despite good weather very low attendance - not impressed.

We were just passing by sat nav error and I remembered that they had good beer. Could it be the same? Pubs alter so quickly these days. Heaven's above what a great selection of fine ales! Unfortunately I was driving but made a mental note, there's a bus stop outside, use your old farts pass and come back!

Not actually been inside as the last few visits have been hot afternoons so we sat outside. Good range of real ales available though.

Nice for a drink, and to relax!

A place you visit and feel your going back in time. Don't expect anything modern except the lovely orangery out the back. It's an old time regulars pub who are happy to chat to you if you wanna chat to them. Friendly bar staff who dont look at you weirdly because your not a regular. Just a friendly boozer.
