Been in for breakfast today, normally have no complaints but today we were sat at the table near the counter, just enough room for our plates and drinks and the older lady who was serving began putting menus on our table, she kept stacking them up as she went past, no acknowledgement to us asking if she could put them there just putting them down when she went past. We just thought it was a bit rude and spoilt our visit. I even left my coffee and some food because I felt uncomfortable.

Lovely cafe, great friendly service with a welcome as soon as you get through the door. All the ladies served with a smile and provided a treat for my dog. All tables were spotless and were cleaned as soon as any customers left. Had the Pump breakfast which was really tasty, and treated myself to a cake from the extensive choice. Will definitely be back

Nice little cafe which does lovely food but unfortunately it has a table that in my opinion should not be used to serve food at all as it is right outside the toilet door and really close to the serving and paying area! You get interrupted all the time as you are eating your food by people queuing to pay or worse still coming and going from a visit to the toilet! The toilet door is also constantly left open which doesn’t help either! This table is in the dog friendly end of the cafe as well so if you have a dog there is no where for it to sit nearby without being trampled on! Just my opinion!

I have booked a table on many occasions with family and friends and The Pump never fails to satisfy ones hunger (unless they've run out of quiche which is a firm favourite with many patrons but there's other yummy food to tempt us on the menu, so definitely not a complaint :-). A wonderful, local venue, with local produce and delicious handmade, homestyle food; in a quaint cottage setting. The staff are friendly and helpful. The prices are fair considering they put a lot of effort into baking and creating fresh dishes daily and many of the ingredients are locally sourced. Would recommend.

The tables are really close together to maximise customers in there so when I stood up I fell into the Fireplace, there's no Social Distancing at all! 8/4/22 thought we'd give them another chance the owner chased us out accusing us of being serial complainers especially against local businesses! This is obviously a fallacy and his aggressive demeanor made my partner cry!

Left feeling alittle disappointed. Wasn't able to swap my bacon for sausage in the breakfast, also my nan just wanted beans on toast which they wasn't willing to cater for even though beans and toast are on the small english. A great welcome and this tearooms has put absolutely everything in place for a safe visit.I had a cheese and chutney toastie with fabulous granary bread. This is the best toastie I have ever had and all other venues should learn from this place. Served with crisps and a salad - it was sublime. Oozing with cheese, piping hot - it was perfect. The cakes all looked sublime and the choice of the raspberry meringue roulade with fresh cream and toasted almonds - again perfection.Pot of tea made with quality tea and so beautifully presented - all added up to a delightfully perfect visit and every excellent review - is thoroughly deserved. You will be very glad after reading the reviews - that you chose The Pump to visit as we did before our visit to the castle.Enjoy.

As much as I want write a glowing review I equally don’t because I always want to make sure I can get a table here. I read the reviews and completely agree with them all. You cannot fault the delicious fresh food, the brilliant service or the quirky and spotless decor. My mum had home made lasagne and garlic bread which she loved and felt she had to apologise for leaving some as the food was so delicious she didn’t want them to think she didn’t like it. You definitely need to go in with an empty stomach as the portions are plentiful. I had eggs benedict which was cooked to perfection. Already booked in for next Saturday and look forward to trying the home made quiche. So happy we found you and will continue to come and try all the menu options in the coming months.

Went to The Pump on Friday for lunch and it was so good we went for cakes on the Sunday and then back for breakfast on the Monday. The lady running the counter, (who was in on all 3 days we went in), was so friendly and accommodating. For lunch the bacon, brie and cranberry pannini was to die for.The cakes - think gorgeous treacle tart and melt in the mouth lemon meringue roulade - were to die for and plenty enough for two people to share. The breakfast was a real treat - full english delightfully served on enamel plates and eggs benedict with succulent ham and beautifully poached eggs.I really wish this little place was close to home, a real gem.

Visited The Pump for afternoon tea as part of my daughters hen celebrations. When we arrived our table wasn’t ready but we were a little early. We panicked a little as we wanted the table set with balloons and favours before my daughter arrived. No problem! As soon as possible staff had the table ready. Afternoon tea was a bespoke affair with us all choosing our sandwiches and cakes. Sandwiches took a little while but staff were busy serving what looked to be a fabulous Sunday lunch to other tables. The sandwiches were worth the weight - lovely fresh bread with a good amount of filling. Following this the scones arrived. A moments silence is called for as these delicacies are appreciated!!! Freshly made and still warm from the oven they fell apart and melted in the mouth with copious amounts of butter, clotted cream and jam. The cream or jam first debate was pointless as we devoured every morsel! If there was still room a cake would was offered from an extensive selection of homemade sweet offerings! Hmmmm....which to try? We opted for a cake-away in ordered to give these master pieces their deserved attention....

My mum and dad are receiving meals delivered by “take a break”. I can’t speak highly enough and thank them for what they offer. Obliging and caring. Delivered hot and the previous crockery picked up. My mum is used to cooking meals but she says how tasty and delicious their food is. Very important when you are not on your best form. The meals have fresh vegetables and certainly are a generous plate full. All the meals go down well. Thank you to the team and keep up this important service.
