After being let down last minute for a birthday we called them to ask if it was possible to come and grab quite a few brownies from them, Dean went above and beyond to make some just for us, the brownies were better than we’ve ever tasted before, a variety of chocolate with different toppings that went down a treat. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be using regularly.

I visited the cafe today and was thoroughly impressed. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. There’s a really relaxed atmosphere and a strong community feel, with many of the patrons seeming to know the staff well. It is also dog friendly which is a bonus. I opted for The Mega “Patten Platter” Breakfast, which is excellent value for money, offering generous portions, a hot drink, and free refills - a rare find these days. Overall, a great experience, and I would highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. I’ll definitely be back!

The Farmhouse Kitchen is not the sort of place that will attract much casual passing trade; it is beautifully situated in a remote spot, a few miles west of Middleton in Teesdale, on a dead end road so, other than a few walkers looking for refreshments, the only clientele will be people who know it is there, and who are prepared to travel to it. Don’t let any of this put you off though, the meals are excellent and the portions generous. Sunday Lunch is strictly pre booking only, and choice limited to roast of the day, plus a vegetarian option. All food is home cooked, freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. Our roast beef came with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, carrots, cabbage and swede, followed by home made apple crumble and filter coffee or tea. For those who have not booked, or who do not want a traditional roast dinner, there is the choice of All Day Breakfast, or various options of pies, chips, gammon, sausages, chips and sandwiches, cakes etc. The service is friendly and efficient, and the location, in a converted farm building, is very comfortable and welcoming, situated in a very pretty valley with open views of fields and hills all around. We will be back soon! 2 things to bear in mind though: the opening times are limited to Saturday and Sunday only, Easter to October, and they do not accept card payment, which could be a problem when the nearest cash machine is 1/2 an hours drive away!

The glorious smells from this cafe promised a treat after a tour of the shops in the mill. We were not disappointed. The owner is lovely and makes her own soups, savouries, mains and cakes. Hearty portions of excellent food and lots of tea! I'm looking forward to making a booking for the monthly Sunday lunch.

Great food, excellent vibe and the team were so welcoming. Small place so its busy so reserve space if you want food. My friend had the Japanese bowl which I tried and it was amazing. Thanks for a wonderful evening

This is our "local" and has been transformed under new management since our move to Belper 2 years ago. Now in 21stC taking card payments not just cash, very nice atmosphere, dog-friendly, welcoming staff. We had pizzas on a Tues night with special offer on cask beer and they were great! Feels like a real genuine local and they are also expanding the evening menu shortly. Also the advantage of a much shorter uphill walk home than going into town! Keep up the good work Mark and Viv.

Visited for my Dads birthday- both being ceoliacs we were excited to have a gluten free pizza only to be told on the day they ran out of the bases when making our order. We both went for pasta of which was not a gluten free pasta either of us like, horrible consistency and the sauces were flavourless. Other party member had lasagne which was cheesy slop and a garlic bread covered in garlic salt which had gone bitter in the oven. Starters okay and the bad food was removed from the bill after what felt like an argument over good gluten free pasta with a member of staff. Only authentic Italian thing we had was the chianti.

Not my cup of tea overall lady behind the bar was pleasant and have no complaints there .. all beer is served from the barrel which I'm personally not a fan of no head or body looks unappealing.. the venue is cold and uninviting hard wood seats just doesn't draw you in .. sorry not for me

So pleased for Jacqui with the new premises! Such a wonderful atmosphere and the food as good as ever! Love having this quirky little restaurant in the heart of Belper. Even the rude couple on the next table could not spoil it! Xx
