Elaichi in Amber Valley

The outside doesn't look inviting, with rotting window frames. Downstairs isn't that inviting either, but it's a waiting area fir take away collection. The restaurant is upstairs and is nicely decorated. The toilets are very clean and modern. The food was excellent. Reasonable prices. The service was very good and the staff friendly and helpful. Recommended.

The staff here are professional but warm. They are great at recommending dishes to suit different tastes and are super polite. The food itself is well-presented and served promptly. There’s loads of choice from your standard Indians with some extra special additions you won’t find anywhere else. Portion sizes are generous without being overwhelming, so there’s not lots wasted (and our family have big appetites). The atmosphere is always welcoming and their mid-week deal is great value. It’s an inclusive restaurant and staff are very lovely with my 4 month old baby and patient with the rest of my large family. Highly recommended - it’s become our favourite!

Cam was really friendly and helpful with the menu. I went for a choice off the specials which was tailored to have more veg and paneer in. The food was delicious and the new drinks staff were very attentive. Always a good night and you leave feeling special.

So far the best place to try Indian food. The service was also excellent. As a starter I recommend to try various vegetables, we liked them the most.

When I walked into Elaichi Indian Restaurant in Belper, I was immediately struck by the inviting ambiance. The soft lighting and warm decor, combined with the gentle hum of conversation, created a welcoming atmosphere that promised a delightful dining experience. I began my culinary journey with a selection of appetizers. The onion bhajis were a particular standout—crispy on the outside, with a perfectly spiced interior. Each bite was a harmonious blend of texture and flavor. The samosas, too, were delightful, with a flaky pastry enveloping a savory filling that was both satisfying and comforting. For the main course, I opted for one of the chefs specials "Azeeza Special". The chicken was tender and well-marinated, the prawns were soft not rubbery, while the sauce was rich and creamy, with just the right balance of spices and chilli. It was evident that the chef had taken great care in crafting this dish. Alongside, I sampled the lamb rogan josh, which was equally impressive. The lamb was succulent, and the sauce had a depth of flavor that spoke of hours of careful preparation. The naan bread, fresh from the tandoor, was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Light and fluffy, with a slight char, it was ideal for soaking up the delicious sauces. I also appreciated the side of pineapple and chilli rice, where the ingredients melded together in a fragrant and flavorful combination. Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and their knowledge of the menu helped guide my choices. Their recommendations were spot on, enhancing the overall dining experience. Overall Elaichi Indian Restaurant in Belper met my expectations. The food was good, the service excellent, and the atmosphere inviting.

Service is always excellent along with good portion sizes, wonderful food and flavours, makes this a firm place to go when eating out (or in - they do take away) in Belper. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting , the staff really do make you feel so welcome. Great value and choice, food is always fresh. Always a good meal (and we have been a number of times).

What a fantastic find! Booked based on the trip advisor comments and the look of the menu. The inside is very modern and clean. The waiter was a very pleasant man who advised us on what dishes we would like based on what we'd previously had elsewhere. The food came quickly and was cooked very well. The menu was also very good and had a lot of choice, and was very clear on what the dishes contained and their spice level. I would highly recommend this place! Very good value for money also!

My family and I were delighted with the take away meal that we ordered from the Elaichi the Saturday of the Easter weekend. The variety of dishes both vegetable and fish was superb and excellently prepared. The food was delivered at the time requested, hot and well presented. It made our family gathering a great success, with young children asleep upstairs! Well done Elaichi, I would happily recommend this restaurant to both friends and family.

What a lovely restaurant with friendly attentive staff. The food was delicious and very tasty. I tried one of the Bangladeshi specials which was delightful. We were on holiday in the area and it was an excellent find. If we lived Locally we would eat there regularly. If we're ever in the area again we will definitely be back and highly recommend it.

Just staying local for a long weekend and fancied a takeaway, found them on goggle maps and was blown away by the food and service. Was one of the best takeaways I have had. Food was ready on time and was fabulous. If we come back will eat in next time to get the full Atmosphere.

I have to rate this place 5 stars, dined here last night, we were welcomed by a friendly front of house staff - Kawsor, he continued to look after us the whole night and had a few laughs. The atmosphere was great. Nice mix of locals and it was quite busy as it was a Friday night. FOOD! This blew us away, the papadums were fresh and crispy, and all the salads were too. I had one too many, on to the starters .. we all opted for the king prawn puri, this was cooked well, chef knew what he was doing, the puri was light and curry was delicious. The main was the stand out dish it was a lamb Achari . This had that authentic taste and took me back to my travels in india, the lamb was tender and cooked well, we all wiped out plates clean and were fully satisfied. We didn’t have space for dessert but they had a good selection of traditional favourites like kulfi etc, maybe next time we’ll order less, Overall, feel like we got value for money, had a good night out with lads, we got looked after by the nice staff, and will be back next time we are in Belper! Been going to The Elaichi for many years, recently moved back to the area and have been twice in the past few weeks. Kowser always goes out of his way to look after us, a genuinely nice guy. The food has always been, and still is fantastic. 10/10

Visited recently for dinner. I ordered vegetable biryani but it was somewhat disappointing, the portion was a massive dish of rice with a very small portion of vegetable curry. The rice was very dry and overcooked, so sticky, not individual grains that I would expect. The curry was very tasty though. The waiter advised us to order a naan bread which we did - way too much carbs, couldn't finish it. We ordered a couple of poppadoms each as a starter and the price was shown on the menu as a price per poppadom, but the price for the accompanying pickle tray was several pounds which was definitely not listed on the menu. It wasn't a rip off but I would prefer they were 100% transparent with pricing. Staff were attentive, restaurant is clean and well lit. Have been lots of times in the past and food was better, but maybe I just made the wrong choice this time.

Ordered a takeaway for 10 and food was ready on the dot as well as being great quality. Service was friendly and I would definitely recommend to others. Great idea to give 15% for cash which on large orders gives great value for money.

This is a lovely restaurant, run by a great guy, Kam who is very attentive and efficient as are the rest of the staff. I would preferred a more strong and definitive flavour to the main dish I ordered as it didn't taste much of anything but just a curry. The starter dish was over cooked .I didn't like the chairs for the customers . They are massive big heavy dark ones and not very well placed at tables in such a setting. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful but slightly pushy. Nonetheless it was a comfortable experience but I'm not sure I have enough confidence to return to commercial taste cuisine . I didn't appreciate the tip for my dish but I accept it but I should have stuck to my instinct .
