Had another amazing meal last night… great food and fantastic service nothing is to much trouble I had the North Indian garlic chicken absolutely fabulous food how Indian food should be …definitely worth a visit ..

Shocking food ordered garlic chilli chicken and rice . The curry was like water no flavour at all rice cold nan was not cooked .... rang the them just to be told will get a call back guess what no call be warned shocking food and shocking customer skills

A great place to eat, food is amazing quality and at a great price. Lovely, friendly service too. Will definitely go back as this is a hidden gem. Had the Sylheti Balti and it was cooked to perfection. Sides were Sizzling Rice and Cheese & Garlic Naan.

Ate in a couple.times. Just had a takeaway. They made me a paneer curry off the menu. Every single time amazing. Nan bread not as good as eat in but that's to be expected. I don't normally eat nan bread but it's the best I ever had. Staff so friendly. Just a good experience all round

The food on Saturday nigh was absolutely spot on, I asked the staff to suggest what to eat, and he made a perfect choice.

We recently had take out from undal although my dish was fine my friends dish wasn't. It was more like soup than curry and was very disappointing.

Absolutely fantastic. Food, service, atmosphere, warm welcome, attention to detail. Makes for a great evening out and equally as good for takeaway/delivery. Flavours and textures are fab.

I have been going to this restaurant for years…. It is the best value and the food is always consistent and so delicious. My usual is chicken chat, butter chicken and mushroom rice with a garlic and coriander naan. I have never had better or tastier anywhere. The food is lush and the family that run it are the most delightful gentlemen. It is lovely to see the dynamics of the brothers and the father, they clearly enjoy working together. Just a lively place to eat whether it be two or ten…. I recommend it heartily ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Arrived early evening and told the waiter I wished to be served as quick as possible as I was travelling by bus. Only 2 small groups in before me. Poppadom and pics came followed by starter before I'd finished and placed in front of me. Great I thought Later while waiting for my main course, several takeaways were picked up. A delivery driver called and picked up 2 large takeaway bags for delivery. One hour later, I called the waiter (only 2 on shift) and asked for my main. "It's on it's way! ", he replied. A plate arrived with a curry on it and no serving dish, no serving spoons or my Naan bread. I told the waiter that their priority has been for takeaways ordered by phone before I arrived. My bus was due so I walked straight out saying that I would never return. This place is understaffed and probably stretched labour wise in the kitchen. GIVE UNDAL A WIDE BEARTH!

Took my 3 grandchildren tonight aged 3, 8 and 11. It is their and my favourite restaurant. Food gorgeous. Everyone happy. Will be back soon.

LOVE Undal! Been coming here for 7 years and can’t fault it. Eat in or weekly takeaway are always absolutely delicious and completely reliable. Our curry is consistently great - beautiful, tender meat and tasty sauces. The staff are all super friendly and polite too. Can’t wait for Friday nights so we can order again!

Amazing food and good service would highly recommend

After many years of eating here and having takeaways I will never order from here again.....standards have been falling for a long time but tonight after ordering 2 mains a rice and a naan and bring tld 1hr to 1hr 10 mins for delivery, I had to ring after 1hr 30 mins to be told it would be cooked in another 5 then waiting for the delivery driver. This on a rainy Tuesday, not good enough but gave them the chance that I would pay if it arrived in 20 minutes. No show , not good enough, there's better Indians in Ripley and I won't come back

Undal at Ripley, absolutely rubbish. Waited 2 hours for a delivery & arrived cold. Had to microwave it when it eventually arrived. Ordered at 5.30pm & said it would be delivered at 6.20pm. Turned up at 7.20pm! This used to be our favourite restaurant. Not anymore, their service has been atrocious since Jay left. Even when dining in the restaurant food takes an age to arrive. It just feels like they're not bothered in pleasing customers. We've been coming here since the day it opened. They've had too many chances. We'll be going to Syhlet spice from now on.

We go to this Indian restaurant regular,cannot fault the quality,plus anything you ask for is never a problem! All the curries we've tried are lovely, we are working out way through the menu,it helps as the combination dishes give you that option ,our nan was cooked exactly as we asked 😋The staff are always attentive and very welcoming. Have been using Undal for years,fantastic food however getting a takeaways is dreadful the app is useless,the last time I ordered it took more than an hour,the delivery driver phoned at least 3 times to find my address apparently no number on address.I have gave up what a shame in this modern world!!!

There are more than our fair share of curry restaurants in Ripley…undal has always been my go to! Good quality, friendly and reliable.

First time visit with a group of friends who haven’t eaten out together since the pandemic etc Fantastic experience, food served to a high standard, no fault, would recommend. Upon paying our bill, learnt that staff were working whilst missing 2-Staff/Colleagues, so further endorsement for delivery a high standard of customer service and overall experience to our group of guests.

Lovely food and great staff. We had the banquet option on a Tuesday evening and it was incredible value for money. Being able to take your own alcohol is a plus too.

Been tonight after a long absence and must say was very busy 1 waiter and 1 chef and about 40 plus diners coped extremely well between themselves quick service very obliging waiter good quality food and hot well done to you both

Great menu choice, love the duo of curries so you can try two smaller portions in one meal. As always, a fab atmosphere with really friendly, attentive staff. Can't wait to come back on Christmas Eve xx

Good choice of non vegetarian dishes however don't offer the same choice of vegitarian meals as the other restaurants in town. Was offered vegetables. As alternative.

Never ordered delivery before but have eaten in so thought we’d give this a try. We have now been waiting nearly 2 hours. Called the restaurant to be told it will be a further 15 minutes!!

first time i have used them. good website, good telephone manner, free delivery service which was punctual and polite, and food was excellent. will recommend and use again

Visited last week with friends for a meal and it was absolutely beautiful. We asked for dishes not even on the menu and it was no problem at all. The service was excellent with a smile and the food came out promptly and delicious. cannot wait until our next visit.

Thought we would have an early curry and had been to the Undal before, and in the past, found the food to be good, unfortunately as this is the Eat out to Help out month, not only was it extremely busy, I think social distancing was also very difficult to keep too which made us feel uncomfortable. The staff however were friendly, but kept very busy.The quality of the food we had, was not up to its usual standard, in that it was seemed overcooked and almost like a boiled puree. To start with, the poppadoms did not feel fresh, they were turning soft, rather than crispy and the rice was lumpy.I know restaurants have had a hard time, but they need to keep their food standards up, and I felt this hadn't happened, but we are fortunate to have 3 other Indian restaurants close by..

Myself and my friend had a very disappointing meal and experience here recently. It was the first time I had been out properly for months and I was really looking forward to it. We booked for 6pm and arrived on time. Our order was taken promptly but the service was excruciatingly slow. We ordered one poppadom each which arrived after about 10 minutes then we had a massive wait of about 35-40 mins for the starter to come out. The scallops were reasonable, there were only three in a dish with a bit of sauce, I appreciate that scallops are expensive, but the king prawn starter was a complete joke and insult, there were two prawns in a dish with a little bit of salad, the starters were gone in seconds. I'm guessing that portion sizes have been reduced dramatically since the August half price offer. We then had a monumental weight for the main courses to arrive. By the time it was 7.55pm, both myself and my friend had had enough. There was still no sign of the food appearing so we asked for it to be boxed up so we could take it away. In the space of 2 hours, we had eaten one poppadom each and three scallops and two prawns between us. Our night out was completely ruined. To make it worse we saw other people arrive after us, eat and then leave and our main courses hadn't even arrived. I can only guess that takeaway orders had taken priority which is going to alienate customers. The food which I ate luke warm when I got home was average. The naan was thin and tasteless, and the portions were small. Two stars is being generous and I certainly won't be going back.

Visited here for our first post lockdown restaurant visit. Why have we never been here before. It’s so so nice. I really like the combination dish they do, you can chose 2 different dishes, which is great when you’re so undecided on what to have. The garlic mushrooms starter is beautiful. I’ve only not given it a full 5 stars as I did think that we were a bit close to the table next to us, in the current climate, I do think there needs to be a bit more distancing between the tables. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend coming here. Got a table booked for next week and we can’t wait.

I visited a long time ago - years, and while it was very quiet that night, the food lives in my memory.Looking for somewhere to eat locally last week (we have moved much closer), we tried here again, and so glad we did. It was early, only a week after restaurants were allowed to open from Covid-19 and the restaurant was empty, but we decided to eat in. (It did fill up more later)The food was exceptional. The chicken chaat was sublime, with intense flavours and a slightly crisp puri; the main courses similar. Even the sundries were good- a perfect naan, and a flavoursome, mushroom pilau.Well worth a visit and will be my new favourite Indian restaurant I think.Parking was available on the street outside, and the restaurant was easy to find just off the Ripley town centre.

We ordered a takeaway. It was my partner's birthday too. Three hours later; it had not arrived. My partner phoned them; they clearly couldn't care less. We had no apology. We had to 'fight' for a refund. This was the first time using this restaurant and I shall not be ordering from here again. I certainly will not be reccomending this restaurant. Shocking service!!! Rude staff!!!

Visited Saturday night and at one point no one in the restaurant had a meal..people had been waiting over hour and half,,god knows how many was working in the kitchen but obviously not enough as they could'nt cope with the amount of people that was booked in. Nice meal but shame about the service it lets its self down on this point

Great food, service and value. Undal continues to deliver quality food at a very good price point. Service is good here, the menu is extensive and the food tasty. The added value of being BYO alcohol means the cost is minimised. From the range of curry restaurants in Ripley, this one doesn’t disappoint.

We come here with friends and family or have a delivery regularly. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings are even better value at £10.95 for four genuine courses.

a bit busy that night i guess got our order wrong and wifes tikka korma was spot the chicken . com 4 tiny bits swimming in sauce,to be fair they rectified this blip later with the same order other than delivery free grattis .still the best in ripley

Collected a meal tonight really disappointed which is a shame as we regularly frequent this restaurant both sitting in and collections. Out of the four curries ordered only one actually looked and tasted like it should. Tried to sit in on Wednesday but it was closed too,so what has happened to this once fantastic restaurant? Delivery at times is no better after many calls before they answered and over two hours before they delivered. DISAPPOINTED

We come here on a fairly regular basis, mainly on a Monday or Tuesday when they have their excellent value for money offers. Always good value for money with very friendly professional staff.

Visited Undal for the first time with friends on a Saturday evening. We had booked although the restaurant didn’t appear particularly busy. Easy to find just off Nottingham Road only a couple of minutes walk from the Co op car park.It is unlicensed but there is a Premier shop right next door.There is a wide choice on the menu, what I did like (which I have not seen in any other Indian restaurant I have dined in) is the option to have two smaller portions of some of the main meals so you can try two different dishes. Also Sunday to Tuesday I think they have an offer of starter, main rice or naan & coffee for £10.95.The food I had was delicious, portion size was just right, my only gripe would be that we did have to wait rather a long time for it - our table was booked for 7pm and our mains did not arrive until 8pm. This wasn’t a problem as I was with friends and not in a hurry but I would have expected quicker service, particularly as we didn’t have starters.This is not a fine Indian dining restaurant but if you want a good, reasonably priced casual meal in Ripley Undal would be s good choice in my opinion.

Visited last night as we were staying in the area working at a local event.

Called for a takeaway at 6.30 picked it up at 6.45pm. Food was piping hot and gorgeous. Will definitely be eating here again.

Have been using this restaurant for quite a few months now.excellent food,generous portions,always a couple popadams& chuckney etc thrown in,which is a nice touch.thats where the positives end.don’t bother with the online ordering or delivery service.they don’t receive the orders for some reason and the delivery drivers cannot find your address.the simple answer is to phone up and collect,I know this is not convenient but the quality of the food makes up for this shambolic takeaway service.

I can't leave a review of the food as it never arrived. I used the app to order a meal, I should have known better. After 45 mins I contacted the restaurant to see if my order was on the way. I was told it was, after an another 20mins I contacted the restaurant again to be told my order hadn't been placed as their screen hadn't refreshed. A total joke. Never going to order from there again.

This has now become an annual event for our family and friends with a Boxing Day evening curry.

Tonight we ordered a takeaway after many good reviews from friends. Firstly it was almost an hour and a half, normally this would be unacceptable but on what is know as mad Friday I can let this slide.

Managed to get a table in a packed out restaurant catering for Christmas parties. Very good service and food also very good. Good ambience and decor with patient staff and will definitely go again. Perhaps not in Christmas season !

This was our first Visit abd we only live 5 mins walk away. Wish we had gone before ! Food was perfect abd the atmosphere was great....will definately be back.....Lamb chops to die for......only one criticism some of the staff could learn how to smile.

They sent a vegetarian meal instead of a vegan meal. We rang a takeaway order through to the restaurant to ensure the meals we were ordering could be made vegan. We were told they could. The garlic mushroom starter came in a cream sauce. We rang the restaurant they told us twice the sauce was vegan when they read the ingredients out it contained whey powder. They then admitted they did not understand the difference between vegetarian and vegan. They would not cook us fresh vegan dishes or give us a refund. The manager was rude and disrespectful on the phone.

Me and my family have been coming here regularly for the last 3 or so years ( once or twice a week), and absolutely love the place. Never had to complain or return any dish. We recommend to many people and not one has said anything bad about the place.

Been to this restaurant now about 6 times within the last 2 months and every time the food has been beautiful,in fact probably some of the best Indian food I have ever tasted..... I would go so far as to fairly compare the quality of food to that of anoki or even memsaab of Nottingham.....

Our table wasn't ready on arrival and we had to wait while the staff moved other tables around to make space though I'd booked four days earlier.We had people standing around our table waiting whilst we were eating,and waiters were carrying tables and chairs around which was a bit off putting.On the plus side the service was quite good,the staff friendly, and the actual meal was very good.

I ate here with friends on a Tuesday evening and was surprised how busy it was for a miserable midweek night in Ripley. The staff were friendly and welcoming, seating us and taking orders quickly. I have to say that the quality of the food has really improved here in recent months and was really good. The Nagashori and chilli rice was particularly excellent. All washed down with a few beers bought from the off-licence next door. What else do you need from a boys’ curry night? Well worth a visit.

For over the last 3 years we have became good friends with these guys and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere with not to much noise so you can have a private conversation at you table nothing is too much trouble for the owners and staff to accommodate your needs from mixing things together off the menu or doing something what's not even on the menu just tell them what you would like and i am sure they will try their very best to do it .give it a go and you won't be disappointed.
