I went to Nonno's years ago and it was a bit drab and it was behind the Lighthouse charity shop across the car park. In its new [not so new its been there about 2 years'ish) location and it's like a different restaurant. The staff are sooooo helpful and friendly. The decor of the place is bright and the food was amazing. Will defo be going back. I had the baked salmon and it was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meals.

Food is great, very tasty, portion sizes slightly small in my opinion for the price you pay The door was open with smokers outside meaning the restaurant smelt of smoke which not pleasant especially when you’re asthmatic however the door was closed when asked, staff members very attentive and polite Nice restaurant would recommend 👍🏻

I found this restaurant over priced. The waiter was pretentious and the customer service was poor. They had no pizza at all. We ended up having our poorly prepared and over priced drinks, paying for them and leaving and heading next door to the Indian restaurant which was fantastic. Definitely would NOT recommend this restaurant.

We have been visiting this restaurant over the years when we are in the UK. This evening was no exception. Unfortunately it did not come up to the expectations of previous visits. The head waiter seemed to want us to rush ordering. He also did not check with us at anytime to find out how the meal was. One order did not come out with the rest, a waitress informed us there was a problem in the kitchen. It was quite sometime before the order came. We had to go ahead and eat. The main meals were well presented and the sauce was very good. However the duck breast was just cut in half, not easy to cut. I feel it would have been better thinly sliced. When we asked for the bill we found we had been charged for ten desserts, only two were ordered, no apology given. ( Except for the young waiter at our table.) More training needed on serving drinks. We think this will be our last visit, unfortunate, as we have had some good meals in the past

This is a great restaurant, with great food and very friendly service. My friend and I had a lovely meal there, with some very good recommendations from the staff, and very courteous service. The interior is modern and comfortable, if a little dark, and the atmosphere vibrant. We would definitely return.

Fantastic food and atmosphere for our wedding anniversary dinner. Nothing was too much trouble, my wife is gluten free and they were able to do her a gluten free base pizza. Definitely order the olives as well! Loved the fact that this was a family run restaurant and you can really see the effort put in especially into the food. Thank you for an authentic Italian food experience!

Exceptional. Throughly enjoyed our pre cinema meal. Friendly welcoming service and excellent food. We were early birds wanting a relatively quick dinner prior to a movie. Shared a bruscietta starter and both had linguine al mare washed down with a decent Chianti. Pasta was wonderfully al dente, prawns and mussels just right. You know something it’s done properly when the tails slip easily from the shells. Sauce was beautifully balanced, a hint of “picante” without drowning in chilli. I hope they continue to prosper, this place has an unmistakable smell of quality. Of course there is a nod to UK preferences, but having worked with Italians for many years, this lovely, spotlessly clean, restaurant has an authenticity about it that rings true. We have just moved to Belper and will be back. Grazie. Thank you

Delicious fresh food at reasonable prices. Service was the best we’ve had for a long time, smartly dressed, friendly and attentive staff. The atmosphere is amazing here. We will definitely return.

Always busy and a great choice of specials

The food was excellent, service was attentive, perhaps a little too much at times, we had barely started our main course & were asked by 4 separate waiters if everything was ok, this needs to be toned down & once would have sufficed. The restaurant was very busy & the noise level was high. We actually couldn't have a conversation without having to shout over people & waiters describing orders to nearby tables, due to the restaurant being open plan. Great place but if you want a quiet, intimate dining experience then don't go on a Saturday.

Absolutely fantastic Italian restaurant in Belper. Starter was a meat platter, olives with salad and Sicilian Gnocchi with spicy sausage for main. Both courses were perfectly presented and cooked, very tasty. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. Great place for a great meal.

It's 4 years since I last visited here, I was really looking forward to a return visit as I rated it 5 stars. But poor service and high prices let this place down badly now. We had a waitress who was argumentative, mediocre food for the price and no staff to request extra drinks. Must try harder.

Lovely food, friendly service, in a nicely decorated restaurant. Food is good quality and well presented.

The food was great and despite being busy came at a good pace and was delicious so top marks to Chef. The ambience was lively and it was a busy Saturday so the noise level did make it difficult for us all to hear each other but that can happen anywhere. The service unfortunately was mixed. We asked for tap water for the table and was served a jug of hot water! It had to be returned and brought fresh and cold. It was meltingly hot in the restaurant but we had to ask for the air conditioning to be put on. All of these things were attended to without question so that was good. One waiter in particular needs some input on appropriate behaviour! He questioned my choice of AF beer saying that I really ought to have an alcoholic drink because the best sort of nights involved you being carried home by your mates!!! I think customers choice of AF drinks being questioned could be very triggering for all sorts of reasons and he needs to understand that is not an appropriate comment. Then later when providing cutlery for the dessert he quite literally threw the cutlery across the table rather than make his way around the table to set it down from behind us. He is probably quite young and perhaps this is just a Saturday job because the 'grown ups' that served us were professional and nothing was too much trouble. So summary, great food let down by variable service.

felt rushed this time, and for some reason, they had the music coming out of the speakers really loudly, so much so that I couldn't hear what my wife was saying to me across the table. I asked for this to be turned down twice, but it never was, so we had to put up with it. it's not exactly a romantic meal when there's tubthumping going on right in your ears! service was quick, but our mains came out a little too quickly, almost like they were sitting waiting for someone to order them! as soon as we put our cutlery down, we were having the table cleared. it felt very rushed and not inkeeping with our previous visits. the overall bill was higher than usual this time too. food quality is still good but it's something to consider.

The first impression is what counts! Here you are in the right place. Elegant environment with a manager always available for all extra requests! Evident quality visible in the dishes with attention to detail. The second courses based on meat or fish are absolutely worth trying, the choice is yours! and the pizza? The best so far in my travels abroad, I recommend the garlic bred chees, for me the top. Impeccable drinks service with a top barman! Absolutely worth visiting! Congratulations... professionals

Fabulous food, bit on the expensive side but worth it.

I went to Nonno’s as a recommendation from my former HR Director and I loved. This week my sister and my brother in law came from Paris to visit me and I had to take them to Nonno’s because is the best food in the region, really good staff and reasonable price. Highly recommended!

Best meal outside of London or Italy by miles.. so great to see the owner front of house..makes a world of difference l, superb food, service and ambience. And oh the cocktails ❤️

We have been to Nonnos many times, it just seems to get better. Very attentive service from all of the team. Our children ordered from the adult menu and their food arrived perfectly tailored for them. Please give this a go rsther than the usual pizza/pasta. The sea bream and venison off the specials menu were particular highlights. Portion sizes are good and prices very reasonable given the quality of food. Highly recommended

Delicious food, the pizza was perfect. Cocktails were very nice. Good service and all at a decent price. Only gripe would be the chefs staring at everyone from the kitchen the whole time made us feel quite uncomfortable. Also they made an unusual choice to seat everyone in one corner when the rest of the restaurant was empty.

This is the third time we have visited Nonno’s restaurant in Belper and we will return again! The staff are extremely friendly and know how to have a laugh, and seem more than happy to accommodate dietary requirements (I base this assumption on my extremely fussy 9 year old!!!) The restaurant is very welcoming and cosy, without feeling like you’re up close and personal with the next guests. As far as I’m aware the only toilets are down some stairs and i am not sure if there is a lift, so if you’re a disabled guest I would recommend double checking with the restaurant before booking, but I may be wrong about this. The food itself is fantastic. Beautifully plated, and portion sizes are perfect to oversized in my opinion depending on what you have. The pizza bases are rustic and the sauces are seasoned perfectly. This time we were a table of 9 (7 adults, a child and a toddler) we weren’t drinking alcohol and only half the table had desserts, and on average we spent around £27.50 per person.

Exceptional. Start to finish. A meal here was our big treat whilst on holiday locally. Wow! Boy did it exceed expectations and didn't disappoint in any single way. I've eaten food across Italy and been lucky enough to be cooked for by many Italian friends of the family and this is right up there. The attentive service was never intrusive and the feeling you have is of a restaurant that has real class. I always know that the vegetarian options are a cut above when I've been given a taste and am somewhat jealous of the the options. The food is exquisite. A special mention to the bartender who served me with a couple of drinks. The man knows how to make a cocktail, that's for sure. His Long Island Ice Tea and Zombie cocktail are worth the visit alone. For a stunning meal I normally pass my compliments to the chef. On this occasion I went to thank the kitchen staff directly. They deserved it. That's how good the food is here. What a find this restaurant was. Thank you for making our meal one of the standout highlights of our week away. Grazie per la bellissima esperienza culinaria.

We all had a lovely Meal here for my Birthday. Haven't been since Nonnas moved, we wasn't disappointed, staff still as friendly as ever & was lovely to see Mathew still working there. Service great, lovely & clean restaurant. We all said we will definitely come again. They even kept the Birthday cake in the kitchen & brought it out after our meal. Can highly recommend. Thank you

The best Italian restaurant I've ever visited. The food is exquisite, and the staff are so friendly and efficient. You can tell the food was made from scratch with quality ingredients along with pride and passion going into every dish. Always recommend and will be returning in the near future!

My wife and I went to Nannos on Thursday with a couple of friends the service was first class and the food was second to none. I definitely have and will recommend this restaurant to quote Arnie we will be back😋

Absolutely fantastic meal and service. We just went as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children (8yr and 5yr). The girls had half portions of pasta and both loved it. Drinks were good sizes and the food served quickly and was also plentiful. Highly recommend

Lovely restaurant. Service & staff spot on. Thought it was quite expensive, nearly £6 for a cup of tea & £14 for a pizza.

Great old school trattoria in the centre of Belper. We were a large party with teenagers and adults including someone in a wheelchair and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. They were friendly, courteous and keen to help. Portions are very large but the food was delicious. Specials included a halibut in white wine sauce and a squid ink risotto and everything we had was excellent. Pizzas and pasta options were terrific and exactly as you’d expect. Big restaurant with lots of room so you don’t feel overcrowded. Recommend highly.

Absolutely awesome, brilliant food and great service.

Really disappointed. We ate with some friends on Saturday night and all felt that the food is overpriced and underwhelming. Every dish is overpriced by about £4. £17.99 for a mixed seafood linguine which had 4 small mussels and 4 teaspoon sized prawns ;like I buy from Aldi) and 4 small rings of tough squid is just rip off. I make better myself. You can’t charge prices like that and not produce a special bowl of food. Sorry we won’t be going back. Not special enough for the special pieces you charge.

Absolutely love it here. Really tasty food and a really good price. Always have an enjoyable restaurant experience with friendly, experienced staff. Drinks menu good, love having a cocktail in the bar before sitting down. Not had a bad meal yet, usually go for their tasty lasagne (it's the best) but had something different off the specials the last couple of times and really enjoyed them. Everyone I go with always enjoys it too. Probably one of the best restaurants around. Nice mix of people in too, so something for everyone. Not too pretentious like a lot of places seem to be these days. Just really good food with a nice atmosphere.

We went to this Restaurant to celebrate my daughters Birthday. There was 12 of us in our party and we did pre-order. I would recommend this venue to anyone. The food and the service from all the staff is absolutely outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and attention to everything was incredible. If you haven't been here before please go you really won't be disappointed.

Amazing food and made to feel so welcome by everyone

First time I've been to this Nonno's restaurant, used to go to the Green Lane one and loved it. Firstly when I entered, being of vulnerable health, I felt extremely safe as there was plenty of room and was socially distracted from all tables. Which was a huge plus for me. Had a lovely, relaxing and fun evening. The food was delicious and the service was excellent, especially as we were a group 31ish. They handled us all really well and didn't rush us to leave. Will most definitely be recommending and going back. Thank you 😊
