Lovely village pub, made to feel welcome and very pleasant staff.

Lovely local pub. Great selection of beers, ciders, gins, you name it. Traditional interior, good outdoor area with plenty of seating. Great when they have their Sausage and Cider Festival on! Staff are all always so friendly 😊

Very friendly staff and the hunters and pork pies are awesome. We got a little bonus when visited as they had a mini ale festival 🙌🏼

Best ham sandwich, bowl of chips and pint (or two) of Bass experience in the known universe.

Love this place... Have been here a couple of times Morris dancing. The beers are excellent & so is the hospitality. There are plenty of cosy nooks to curl up in. A great conservatory & ample covered & uncovered spaces outside. A real little gem hidden in a traditional Derbyshire village 🌹💕😉🙏

Was lucky enough to visit when they had a Beer Festival. 🍺 The quality of the beer we had was truly excellent. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable on beers. Well worth a visit!

Sat outside, had a pint of summer lightning, very nice. The beer choice was epic!

A brilliant back to basics pub. Great selection of beers. Food is basic but nice. I had a half pound pork pie was very nice. Recommended plan a walk around the amber valley and make this a stop.

Open fire, cosy atmosphere and very nice staff. Only popped in for a coffee and the chilli and chips. That was yummy 😋 .

Beer festival on is a good choice - my selections were not that great but that was my problem. The sausage cob, although filled with sausage was rather bland and the sausages were pale in colour. The chips were perhaps the worse bowl I have ever had - overcooked and greasy. Gaviscon needed when I got home

Really nice pub run by friendly folk a couple of miles outside of Belper. Serves a good range or real ales , ciders and perries. A couple of nice snugs one of which has its own serving hatch which is a rarity! Lovely pub worth seeking out. Dog friendly and very welcoming! 🍻 🍏 🍎 🍐 🐕

A little dark and lack of atmosphere didn't help neither did the not so great beer choice and served with the sparkler off so came virtually flat.. so ask for the nob on... I kid you not .. we forgot .. very quiet out of the way on a residential street ok but probably better at weekend

Old world feel with excellent beers

Myself and the wife popped in here on whim. Approaching the door, that looks as though it should be grade 2 listed on its own, I turned to the missus and said "all the chatter inside makes it sound like a medieval tavern" I opened the door and literally walked into a medieval tavern. If you like old pubs this is an absolute must, still retaining original flag stone floors. Great selection of real ales and ciders in cozy surroundings. If you happen to visit in the winter there is a nice open fire to get warm next to. 5 Stars well deserved.

Very quirky pub with a lot of history. 8 cask ales available when we visited. Only had cobs available at (monda lunchtime, but the fillings were substantial and good value.

Amazing pub in the heart of a lovely village. The pub has great beers that are kept well with great locals serving. Can't speaking highly enough of this place.

Medieval inn serving an incredible choice of quality ales. Gin menu is extensive. My favourite ale remains Ubiquitous! Quaint, comfy cubicle seating or open seating in front of the fires. If you prefer space, the orangery is cosey with the dogs and access to the rear tarmac courtyard is great for air, smoke, dogs to stretch. The toilets are always super clean. Staff super helpful!

A very nice real ale House with a good choice of ales even a ale menu board... very cosy to sit in. A family sitting area ..usual kind of pub snacks .food prices gone up as expected i suppose £3.25 for a basic cob example cheese and oinion. £1 for crisps nuts etc

This pub is easily one of the best in Derbyshire.. I know it sounds like an exaggeration but its mix of great real ales and 'olde worlde' charm is wonderful. From outside it does not look anything out of the ordinary, but inside there are real fires, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. To see the pub at its finest I would recommend you drop in on a cold winters day..heaven. In summer there is a updated beer garden. Is also well worth factoring in on a 'crawl' given this pubs proximity to both the White Hart at Bargate and the Holly Bush in Makeney. Enjoy. M

Always a fine selection of Ale and Cider in the ever increasing popularity of Lager, 'tis a refreshing change to have the nicer beers catered for and you certainly do here. The welcoming staff are very pleasant and informative. There are a fine selection of snacks including the World's Greatest pub Snack : The Scampi Fry! 😇. The overall ambience is always nice, my last visit it was Sunday afternoon and the whole pub was short on seats as it was full, gone are the days where folk will just sit anywhere but we offered the spare seats to a couple of fellows who joined us, their friends joined us later and without looking too much like imposing nut cases we joined in with some of their conversations. What I'm saying is that this is an old timesy, local boozer, and it holds onto the village character without being isolating to non-locals. It's not like the local shop from the League of Gentlemen, much the opposite. Well done Dead Poets Inn, I raise a glass to your continued success.

This pub don't deserve 5 stars, I want to give it more, but Google won't let me. Staying in Milford, and twice walked the 1.5 miles to this pub, it's worth the walk because the beer is so good. This is a traditional old pub with great atmosphere, and a great choice of beers. People who live close to this pub are so lucky.

Ordered food while sat outside with a seven-year-old started to rain lovely lady working at the dead poets asked us if we would like to sit inside we sat down which was great because we will be out of the heavy rain while we are out then to be told by some big guy that works there but it’s now policy that you cannot bring children inside didn’t say that before he took our money so we had to sit outside in the rain and eat he did say we can eat in the smoking shelter if we like very clean cigarettes that have been in peoples mouths next to my food COVID-19 bring it on will never go there ever again how embarrassing

Overly paranoid with rules that are illogical but the get out clause is they claim it is the law. Evening ambiance ruined by a dog that kept barking at anything and everything.

Nice well run pub with good attention to respecting Covid rules, good range of ales on cracking form, the Bass was as good as my friends had drunk anywhere and the Oakham Citra was crisp and fresh...all in all very good.
