Came back here after visiting last year for a friends birthday, last year the food was genuinely amazing, don’t think any other Mexican I’ve had has come close. Portion sizes were massive and the quality was really very good.
Unfortunately, this portion sizes to have slightly changed over the last year as our most recent visit, we found the portion sizes to be quite a bit smaller (we even checked a photo to make sure!). We remember being almost too full to eat after sharing some large nachos last year, what came out the other day I could’ve ate on my own in seconds!
The mains were a similar story, I also tried a new filling and salsa option which I wasn’t keen on, but that’s entirely my fault! My partner’s food was delicious.
The service was similarly amazing, very polite and friendly service. Very attentive, and the venue itself is cosy.
The bar was set so high on my first visit that any change was always going to be upsetting, I get times are tough at the moment but I can’t help but mention my disappointment at the changes to portion sizes!
Everything else was great though.
Our first time we have had a takeaway so I can only comment on 1 experience but we are from the Midlands, 2 starter’s 1st Fish Pakora really bad 3 pieces of small unseasoned pieces of fish in really soggy batter not nice went in bin. 2nd Sheek Kebab really tasty would love as a main course. 2 Mains 1st Special Jalfrezi, plenty of tasty meat no onions or peppers normally in a Jalfrezi, 2nd Tikka Parthia chicken nice tomatoes not cooked out. Both mains said hot but more mild to medium no spice just tomatoes in Parthia. Keema Nan bread nice but Keema minced lamb wafer thin in the middle. Can’t say if would use again because not sure if the dishes are consistent.
I have never left a review before of anywhere but I was so disappointed with the food and service. I had a sausage panini about 9 inches long which contained ONE (yes one) sausage covered in disgusting melted cheese. We waited 30 minutes for it after having been served our tea immediately so it was cold by the time the food came. There was a joke of a salad with it but the promised crisps never appeared. And…£7.50 for the sandwich. Really!!!!!???
The word inspiration equals impunity because the food has nothing Jamaican about it, the prices are astronomical and the portions are ridiculously small (4 slices of banana £4.50) which doesn't even make 1 whole banana ridiculous🙄.
The Jerk sauce is yellow (I've never seen one like that). The flavor isn't there which is an insult to Jamaican cuisine. Now I don't know if that's because there are no Jamaicans in the kitchen or if it was adapted to the Scottish palate 🤷🏾♀️
Absolutely beautiful full English breakfast at the Governor’s house.
Great service and very welcoming staff.
For me what sets this breakfast apart from other establishments is the quality of the ingredients used.
Everything is just top draw.
Thanks very much the Governor’s House for another great breakfast.
Had a takeaway from Herb & Spice tonight, great service as always and delicious food. The dishes we ordered were full of flavour and tasted so fresh. Best Thai meal I've had in a long time, thank you for a great meal!
