Great customer service and food was amazing.

Collected grandson from adjacent school.

Used to go there a lot but had heard midling reports more recently. Ignore these as the food was excellent and the service great. Recommend

Just been for a quick lunch with my wife and was so impressed with red lion, the barman who served us was superb, he was polite, friendly and above all human. Excellent. The food was first class and prompt, we will definitely be going back, a massive well done to the Red lion, 100% excellent.

Very rare Dave Dee Discos get's to work in a pub But I'm glad I Did I think I made lots of new friends ,There was Mick & Kev & Kev 2 the younger and Sue & Charlotte to mention a few, great pub, great atmosphere, good prices & brilliant beer/ food I just loved working there, Keep up the good work!

Really lovely pub lunch, quiet Saturday (but day before father's Day!) but the staff suggested eating outside, which was perfect. Staff really welcoming - couldn't fault it at all, food all delish -will be back 👍🏼

Me and Sharon go there and the neighbours and it was really nice had a live concert there and barbecue food and a hog roast and we've had takeaway food from there as well and a good selection of beers and the staff are brilliant thank you for a brilliant day👍🥰😁. Nick

Lovely cosy and friendly pub. Staff are very welcoming. Lovely beer garden at the back. Plenty of car parking. I really enjoyed the food, fresh, tasty, and filling. Also locally sourced.

Lovely food here, well worth a visit

Had a wonderful meal in a very cosy atmosphere. The steak was amazing, best I've had in years. Service was swift, then a lovely drink in the bar with a roaring open fire. Couldnt be bettered.

There's a very unfriendly man who stares at you from the kitchen window, I won't be giving them my custom again. I have have been visiting the village for over a year now, my children attend the school and I live over an hour away. Previously I'd been told that the pub very kindly allowed school parents to use the car park at pick up and drop off times, a very community spirited gesture I felt and as such I'd been in a couple of times to give them my custom. However the most recent time I parked there a man came out from the kitchen and just stared at me, he didn't say anything he just stood there and stared. Feeling rather uncomfortable with this I decided to move the car but I did say hello and he just grunted. A little politeness wouldn't have gone amiss but evidently said individual wasn't capable of that. Not so community spirited any more I feel. It goes without saying that they'll be getting no further custom from me when I'm in the area.

We went on a Wednesday evening, and sat in the beer garden. Big mistake. Wasps. And Dog poo. Moved to Marque, where there were less wasps and no dog poo. The food was okay. Chicken a bit dry. Burger a bit solid, like it had been processed in a 5 ton press. The best thing about it was Marstons 61 deep. Chips were decent.

Popped in here on the way home from work for a pint in the sweltering weather. I had heard about this place, had seen pictures from reviews that showed Bass on tap. So I was eager to have the opportunity to pop in. They have little on tap in terms of ales and no Bass. However, everything else is absolutely fine, a very fine village pub, staff are as friendly as you’d expect for a Staffordshire pub (which is usually pretty friendly), decent price on the pint of Pedi and some nice historical photos on the walls of the village. I reckon the food’s pretty good too looking at the menu. All you need really, just a shame about the lack of Bass. Just my opinion, but I wish there were more pubs in Staffordshire with Bass on tap, it’s all Pedi/Marston’s stuff and ales you’d see in any other pub in the country. Again, want to stress that’s just a personal nitpick, it’s really a very good village pub! 😊

Excellent food, lovely atmosphere, great setting, great value. Two had the burgers; one, the half chicken. Saved me some money, as the mains put previous plans for desserts well to bed 😂 Please, visit and support a great place to eat, drink, and feel comfortable.

We visited for Easter Sunday lunch with family. Ryan and Gail were great hosts, we were met by a friendly welcome upon arrival. There was a good selection of drinks and a varied menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal, starter, main and dessert which was served to the table in a timely manner. Lovely relaxed atmosphere where we could all converse together. In our party we had a 2 year old toddler, the facilities for changing him were really good, they provided a highchair for the meal and went above and beyond to cater for his needs. Thank you Ryan and Gail for making our family Easter really special!

Very much a village local but welcoming. However most people were drinking lager which explained the understandable lack of choice of cask ales, though I may have visited in-between barrel changes.

Really nice atmosphere and cuisine. It's British pubfood done well with quick, efficient and friendly service. There is a large bar area with open fire and the restaurant is in a separate room. So you can have a drink before being seated. Will most definitely be visiting again and would highly recommend.

Given the number of 5 star reviews, we clearly dined on a bad day. The cold, drab dinning room, decorated in grey concrete block effect wall paper, was an inauspicious start. The portions are small for the price. The beef served was 2 bits, not even full slices. The side serving of vegetables, red or green cabbage! served in two small pots between 4 adults. The home made pie was clearly not home made, if it was, the chef was going for the supermarket value range look & taste. When the meals arrived, my family instantly looked at me, pleading "don't say anything". The friendly lady who served us, salvaged 2 stars.

I've often driven past the Red Lion in Newborough and thought "What a nice pub, we must visit." With Saturday night being date night, this was our destination of choice. As we had not booked in advance (highly recommended) and being busy, the welcoming bar room was our dining area. Drinks were ordered and the friendly and efficient service offered was exceptional. Before we could choose our food, a table in the restaurant had been made available. Being vegetarian/pescararian, there was a large selection on the menu (decisions, decisions!), including a vegan option. My choice of spiced halloumi was wonderful and my wife was happy to be able to choose a lighter version of fish and chips - with many meals on the menu offered as a smaller portion. Desert? Of course! Great drinks? Definitely? A warm welcome, attentive staff and a friendly atmosphere? Absolutely! Will we visit again? Guaranteed!

The owners are lovely, very welcoming and chatty. The food was amazing and the lighter bites are a fabulous idea. Had a great meet up with a friend, long over due because of travel restrictions. We will revisit next time we are in the area

What a disappointing evening in a once vibrant and lively pub, this place was cold and lacked any atmosphere whatsoever. We were plagued with flies both in the bar and the restaurant during our evening. The menu has been scaled down only one starter and one main on the specials board to choose from. The food was average at best. The fish goujons were more batter than fish. Credit to the local butcher for the fillet steak, but the salmon was overcooked and dry and the broccoli was inedible, it was raw and even when sent back it was returned in exactly the same state. Needless to say after many great visits in the past we will not be returning

Food quite nice and a reasonable price so worth a visit . Some service issues for our visit ... forgot to bring drinks order , meals delivered to another table and then somebody elses drinks on our bill . Spoilt the experience really but hopefully just a glitch .

Loved it. Pub grub done with a bit of thought and elegance. Best bit was how accommodating they were with a grumpy 2 year old in tow. They cheered her right up and we were all full at the end of the day.

Fantastic family meal out. We are a family of 6 with three always hungry teenage boys. We chose to go here for steaks and I can honestly say the meal was faultless. We had lots of side orders including possibly the best onion rings we've ever had, a delicious salad, buttery corn on cobs and sweet potato fries, so I think I can say we tried quite a lot of the menu!! Everything was faultless. All the steaks were cooked to perfection, the restaurant was clean, the service great and atmosphere relaxed. Can't wait to go back! What a fabulous place!

Made very welcome lovely and friendly, food was really good just need to revisit for a pudding now as didn't manage one this time.

Very good beer and very well attended with a full car park. Easy to get blocked in the car park if your in the wrong spot which I was and had to go searching for the owner of the car but no big issue. Parking is the only issue 😳 as spaces are tight and a lot of 4 x 4's but putting that to one side really good cask beers on offer and a very clean pub which will now compete with The Meynell close by which had a large car park so maybe good to try that pub and give the Red Lion residents a break from cars parked outside their houses .... 🤔 but the beer is good 🤪 so who knows ? I'd highly recommend a visit as a great atmosphere too 👍👍👍👍
