This is an old style pub and can be a bit noisy in the main bar. The restaurant part, in what is confusingly called the smoking room, is much quieter.
The food - we ate a massive mixed grill - was plentiful and tasty. The service time was reasonable. The price, £32 each, is normal for a meal including steak.
My only complaint would be the attitude of a member of staff. We arrived at 6.50 for a 7 pm appointment, only to be told that a member of staff would 'lead us ro our table' at 7. She also assumed that we would know where the restaurant was, even though we had never been in there before. She also seemed to take great pleasure in telling us that they were 'fully booked', even though I had booked. Once we ordered the most expensive item on the menu, her attitude changed.
Because of the member of staff's attitude I have awarded the pub 4 stars instead of 5
We came to this little cafe in the heart of Britain as we had heard the food was delightful and the village was lovely. 100% accurate on both counts. Chef Carlos has a great imagination and it shows in the special sandwiches and desserts served. The sandwich I had was a chicken, ham, and avocado with garlic mayo on toasted white bread. My wife had the butternut squash falafel wrap with whipped feta and pickled beets. Chef's lovely wife Nicole extends charm and grace taking orders and dishing friendly conversation. We finished our meal with a slice of lemon icebox pie with a crust of ground digestives. It was light and delicate with a delicious taste. We walked around the village loving the smiles and friendly greetings of the village folk. Walking along the banks of the Tyne is beautiful and we visited the sites of Vindolanda and the Roman Army Fort along Hadrian's Wall. The museums are well curated and the sense of historical awe was powerful. This visit was a highlight of our trip to England from California.
This place is a hidden gem! We were driving by and found it by chance. The crispy chicken burger was really tasty. My kids loved the nachos and loaded fries. The food quality and taste were amazing, and the prices were very affordable. If you’re in the area, it's a must-try, and the view from the place is breathtaking.
5 of us had a 5* breakfast at The Garden Room this morning. Each of us ordered a different kind of breakfast and unanimously all rated their breakfast as first class. The quality of food was delicious, beautifully served and the service by young people was awesome. This cafe oozes with energy, professionalism and personable approach even when it is packed. Great credit to young Johnny. He and his team are inspirational. The cafe has everything, lovely setting, great food that also caters for gluten and dairy free intolerance and vegetarian. The bonus is the attitude of this young team. You are indeed an inspiration at every level And Jamie (Chef) you are 1st class as you experiment with different menus ensuring the cafe is inclusive for those of us who have certain food intolerances. Well done and thank you. Doreen
What a fantastic cafe, the staff are incredibly friendly and the food is delicious! Dog friendly with even little treats given to our little anxious pooch to help her settle. We stopped off whilst visiting Ilkley for a all day breakfast and weren't disappointed by the very yummy fully monty breakfast!
Always enjoy coming in for a nice brew of coffee . A little gem in Chatterton villages for people to come in with friends, children or by themselves for coffee or alcoholic drinks or snacks during the day or in the evening. They have friendly staff members and I find this to be a little cosy spot in the village - a little hidden gem .
Juice box were the perfect addition to our catering offer at our fireworks event with over 5000 ticket holders. The quality of the drinks and good product was fantastic and we received lots of great feedback.
To start, the location is very nice and inside the establishment is also very cosy. The food and drink is very well priced, not too expensive and extremely affordable. The brownie is to die for as well as the chocolate cake, both of which were very rich and intense in flavour. As for the pizza bagels, they are very flavoursome and tasted up to italian pizza standards, with a soft an fluffy bagel underneath and great quality cheese and an ample amount of pepperoni on top. The double cheese bagel was soft and not too dense, maybe a stronger cheese could have been added. Overall, very good experience and very nice food and hospitality.

Was recommended James' Curry from a family member. We ordered the Malaysian chicken curry and was completely blown away! It's hard to put into words how incredible it was! James' curry is unique - this is totally different to mindlessly scrolling through countless curry places to just end up with something pretty normal/similar to one another. James' curry has a flavour unlike any other and we will be making this a Friday night go to for sure.
Thank you for changing curry night forever!

This was our first time using Yolanda's, and I have to say it's going to be a regular thing! The food is fresh, tasty and very good value for money. The homemade guacamole is excellent. Thanks!
