We came for an evening meal yesterday and it was excellent as was the service. Thank you!

Was a lovely place friendly staff nice big rooms for the price hope to go back again when working that way

I'm reviewing the food and not the accommodation. We've been coming here on and off for twenty years. We live in the area. We've had some great meals here however we didn't get that this time. One of the meals was cold and only half the food came out on time as half the table finished there meals the rest of us just started and the service was not on point. When you spend over £200 you dont expect this. A carnivorous menu and there is not much choice for anything else.

I would have liked roast pork, but the only pork available was fatty belly pork, so I had Turkey. The roast potatoes were undercooked, not crispy and unappetising.( this is the carvery). We were not offered water for the table, no-one asked if we were happy with the food.and the waitress was unsmiling and surly. Overall a bad experience.

We were travelling home from London fancied a carvery, we weren't disappointed this was tasty with 5 meats to choose from everything was so good well worth the money

They were busy but service was great

Popped in for a late lunch/early dinner without a booking. Was lucky they had a table with no waiting time. It was pumping being mothers day and service was excellent!!!! Multiple servers ensured our drinks order was taken and got to our table in no time and food order was taken soon after. Food arrived in no time. Food as always is amazing at this place. And yet again impressive service, even on a packed to the rafters busy day. Thank you to the staff at Percy Arms. Excellent service and food as always.

Unexciting menu very expensive not enough staff

I'm reviewing the restaurant, rather than the rooms where I have never stayed. We've been a few times over the years. In the last few years it has been excellent. They offer a really good selection of meat from their butcher's block, allowing you to choose the cut you like the look of. The ribs are also excellent, we often order too much deliberately so we can have some for breakfast the following day! The south African food is also excellent, particularly the biltong and the koeksisters. Worth a visit for sure.

Went for a celebration meal (recommended by friends). Food was great quality, generous portions and delicious. Lovely service.

Really good harty food with a South African twist, but still has the basics. beautiful interiors. both our dogs got a treat and lots of love. Marem was so freindly and warm and very funny. Thanks so much!

The most disappointing meal possible. Service was awful, chips were indigestible and the ‘salad’ was a couple of dry leaves on the plate, ribs were tasteless and dry. When explaining to the waitress we were not happy she said she would speak to the manager and did not come back for another 20 minutes and we were offered a £10.00 discount even though half our meal was inedible. Massively disappointed, will not be going again!

Came here for a conference and was a lovely pub, located in a great location. The room we were in was very cosy and warm...but there were a fair few of us to be fair. We had lunch provided as part of our booking. The food was decent and the service was good. I would like to re-visit again in a normal customer capacity, as feel the experience would be very different and I could really get to try out the proper menu.

Food is always amazing at times you do wait long but I guess good food is worth the wait

The pub is in a great place for a very hungry bunch of walkers. The food and service was first class and the staff very efficient.

We booked B&B at the Percy Arms. Communication before we arrived was good and very quick. We loved our room - spacious and very tastefully decorated, with coffee machine and tea. Lovely big shower and fluffy towels. Breakfast was very tasty - we had the full English and the poached eggs and avo on toast. We decided on the spur of the moment to eat at the pub the night before. We had a steak and the hake, followed by sticky toffee pudding - everything was delicious. The staff were friendly and we were made very welcome - we would definitely stay again.

Great fiid and service for one night stop on the way to London

Visited for the famous Sunday carvery. We'd booked in advance which is a must because the place is so popular for a Sunday lunch. Service was prompt and friendly without feeling like we were being rushed. Four of our group had the carvery - all complimented the way the meat was cooked and the sides that accompanied the roast. I had beef, lamb and the tagine (a fancy word for the potjie, though it did taste more like the Moroccan dish than a potjie, still delicious though). They do two sittings on a Sunday so we had a gentle nudge at about 2:30 that the next table was due in but we didn't feel like we were being rushed but more just a word to the wise for anyone who wants to stay and linger over a coffee after eating enough food for a week.

A very well organised restaurant with a busy feel and a friendly manner. The carvery is generous and has everything you would want. The vegetables, though, can get a bit tired after a while on the buffet. They found us a place for two near the bar, despite being fully booked. They find just the right note between friendliness and professionalism. Excellent.

This pub seems to be nice in a summer with a great outdoor area and live music, however quite casual inside, surprised lack of Christmas decorations… food was pretty ordinary, i wouldn’t return for it. Ribs were a bit dry and fish dish was simply small and missed a good taste.

Clubs Christmas Dinner - great service and food and dealt with a large group really well. Have our regular post-cycle breakfast here every Sunday, Always great and so a natural choice for our dinner.

Gem of a local pub with rooms. We have stayed twice recently and the rooms are so lovely, warm comfy very stylish and well decorated with modern bathrooms - some rooms have baths in the bedroom which are fabulous. Excellent value for a stay. The pub is also great with delicious food and friendly staff. We’ll be staying again and can’t wait.

Drove through for a family pub lunch while doing a day trip through the surrey area. I’d heard it highly recommended from a few friends. Two of us ordered battered fish and chips - I found the fish inside the batter was good but the batter was still raw in some parts and undercooked, with the chips a bit too cold. Really wasn’t that good overall. Others ordered burgers which they enjoyed, and the crayfish BLT which was given a thumbs up. The service was really friendly and fantastic.

We had a yummy Sunday roast here. Our waiter Naren was so lovely. He was very friendly and checked in on us frequently to make sure we were all doing well. We all agreed we would go back just to see him again:)

Best place ever to have steak!!

It has been a while since I was made to feel humiliated by a member of staff for asking if it was possible to swap bacon for pickles in my burger. He continued to preach in a condescending manner that they were not a McDonalds. To be absolutely honest I have had much tastier McDonalds burgers and without a portion of bad customer service. It really made me feel uncomfortable asking for anything there let alone enjoy our family birthday meal. Not that the food was that enjoyable - bland and my burger tasted of horse meat (or something other than beef for sure). Or maybe it was my unsophisticated pallet again. It felt like that staff member was so in love with his own voice that he had to repeat the same stuff multiple time as if we were idiots, yet he forgot to actually bring our pre-meal snack before the meal arrived. To be fair, he did apologise and offered it on the house (about 4 times, as if we were to be grateful for a £2 portion of nuts.). If you are looking for average food, rude staff and poor service, then try this place.

Stayed overnight and had breakfast in the morning. Great value for money. Really nice rooms with a free standing bath. Really liked the breakfast. The evening menu and the selection of dry aged meat looked amazing. Unfortunately we didn't stay to eat. Great spot to explore and go for some long walks.

The staff were very accommodating friendly and helpful. We've been to The Percy Arms quite a few times on a Tuesday Steak Night and found it very satisfactory.

The best Sunday Roast we have had in a very long time. The Percy Arms is understandably in demand due to their exceptional service and delicious meals. I highly recommend visiting if you are near the area! We travel over an hour specially to visit here for a Sunday Roast - hopefully that proves how great it is! Amazing team and lovely environment.

The Percy is a very popular and busy pub and for good reason. Always a good atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. It doesn't matter if you're stopping for breakfast or dinner, the food will be top quality. Definitely put it on your to visit list.

Always love the Percy. Ribs and chips is my go to, but the venison burger is also epic. Service is great. Prices are fair.

This place has consistently good food. The meat is exceptional. The staff are also accommodating and very efficient. The whole pub is very comfortable also. Highly recommend.

Really great quality food. 2 course gourmet lunch for £20 each. Narem, our waiter, was wonderful and great fun! Would recommend as a great place for lunch on walk through albury estate.

The pub is in a terrible location. The outside area is in a state of disrepair and the inside is not much better. It is depressing even for a chain pub. The food is bad pub food. The staff are very rude the drinks are awful and they can’t pour a Guinness. Don’t come here if you want to watch sport as they won’t bother turning it on for you.

Our food was below average and very disappointing. It is likely that they are known for their steaks and anything other than that is not very good - that was our experience.

Great food. Highly recommend the steak - this places specialises. Do yourself a favour and ask the waiter to see the cuts at the meat counter, don't just order from the menu. The Porterhouse was a dream!

Have eaten here often over the years, but this is the first time I've gone to the meat fridge to select our steaks. Naren, who had welcomed us into the pub, took us to look at the options. He brought out a selection; sirloin, T-bone, porterhouse, each individually packaged and numbered. Then he brought out a tomahawk, which I believe is their premium steak. We looked at each other and both decided that was the one to have. They were massive, maybe we should have gone for one between us, but hell, you only live once. We both like our steaks blue, which is always a risk, but I reckoned they wouldn't have lasted all these years if they didn't know how to cook steak. And they do. One of the best steaks I've ever had, the GF too. Just a perfect crunch on the outside but ultra rare, well bloody, inside without being cold. Tender, tasty, what more is there to say? I had a pepper sauce, which was superb, and my partner had a chimichurri sauce, which is a variation on salsa without being overwhelmingly spicy. It was good, but she'd go for the peppersauce next time just as a matter of personal choice rather than any fault with the sauce. It's not often I rate the side salad, but this one was worthy of mention. Small but perfectly formed, the tomatoes were sweet, the onions had bite and the greenery was fresh and tasty. I had a side of mushrooms with garlic and thyme and my partner had the spinach and kale au gratin. Both were excellent. I went skinny fries, she opted for chunky chips, both perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy in the middle. We both admitted defeat about 2/3rds the way through our steaks, so they put them in a doggy bag to take away. No chance, dogs, too good for you. The service was attentive and friendly, the atmosphere relaxed and convivial. A great place to enjoy great food. Obviously not cheap at a shade over 60 quid a head for the food, plus an Aspinals and a couple of pints of the very drinkable Percy Ale but worth every penny. If you like steak, this is the place to go.

Food is great tasting! Portions are small for the price.

I booked a table at the Percy Arms for a lunchtime family gathering and I was so pleased I did. The food was excellent with generous portions, flavourful and beautifully presented. The service was fast, efficient and polite. We could not have asked for more. Two members of our party had to cancel last minute due to ill health and this was accommodated with no problem at all. In fact, communication throughout the booking was immediate and helpful, which was reassuring for me as I was travelling all the way from Scotland and did not know what to expect. I will be returning next year and I will look forward to dining at the Percy Arms again.

Amazing steak! We came here for a celebration dinner and were looked after by our lovely waiter Naren, who showed us to the special cuts of steak. We picked out a delicious Sirloin on the bone and a Porterhouse cut which were Devine! The service and atmosphere was great. I’m already looking forward to going back for more! Thanks Naren & the Percy Arms for a wonderful evening 🙏

The bobotie and steak for dinner were awesome! Full english breakfast wasn't great - beans came out stone cold, and didn't come with any toast (had to ask for that separately) Dinner was 5 star, breakfast was 3.

Went today for birthday totally disappointing all round starters were good mains a disaster ordered 16oz rump came out looked good but even with the extra sharp knife couldn’t cut it thought it thought for a bit was a joke rubber one was asked if I wanted another one to which I yes medium please next one came out well a good vet could have got it going sent it back but by then was no longer hungry paid and left birthday ruined cheers for that Staff not really bothered

Pub is a bit shabby, needs a good clean and some fresh furniture. Food is decent, massive portions. Service is a mixed bag, feels a bit slow and some of the staff are rude. Good play area in the garden for the kids.

Very disappointed with our experience. Restaurant was very busy - our table was squeezed in against a dresser between the fire exit and toilets. The dresser was a storage unit and had a range of candles and dusty glassware on it. The food was average at best and they seemed to only really cater for guests wanting the carvery. Prawn cocktail was £10 and was a struggle to find a few tiny prawns other than the one large prawn in its shell sat on top. Flat iron chicken with lemon and herb was large but was greasy and soaking in garlic. Will not be in a hurry to go back unfortunately

We decided to give the carvery a go yesterday, I can honestly say this is the worst roast dinner I have had, apart from the meat, the rest of it was awful, frozen anemic cold roast potatoes, dried-out vegetables, and gravy with smokey BBQ sauce taste, no starters no pudding 2 cokes and 1 wine spritzer, nearly £90, we wont be back sadly

Lovely boutique hotel tucked away in the country. Beautiful room with a roll top bath. Perfect location for visiting the Silent pool gin distillery down the road. Breakfast was also very tasty.

We had a family celebration for 24 here during a really busy Sunday service. Our dedicated waiter ensured we had everything we wanted. The food, some from the carvery, some from the a la carte menu, was all delicious. The children loved the play area after we had eaten. We had room 2 for the night which was clean and comfortable. We anticipated some noise from the diners below but didn't hear a thing except a small amount of traffic. Definitely worth the trip from Devon!

Really really good food. Came for an annual send off for our mate who lives in Australia. They made us a massive platter of meat with unbelievable steaks. One of the best meals I’ve had out, can’t wait to come back.

32 of us ate at The Percy Arms last Saturday, 16th September, at a special event. The manager was exceptionally considerate when we were late due to two members of the party suffering from heat exhaustion, telling us to relax as we were his guests. The staff were very efficient and the food was wonderful. I can’t praise the experience enough, and wish I didn’t live 200 miles away so that I could eat there more often

Realy great steak night. Cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend.

Lady on service didn’t count up our bill correct as all paid separate. Didn’t include the cash within the total. Got the manager involved who was very aggressive and abusive. And categorically still made us pay a service charge after being abusive. Will never go back again.

Awful. I was a guest at the dinner so I hesitate to criticise but ... I've never before had to eat my meal in the dark. The maitre d'/owner had no functioning lighting on the terrace; we asked for lanterns but there were no batteries!!...

the room looked great , but the kitchen ventilation system was underneath and very powerful and noisy and did not go off until 10.30 pm, too late in afternoon to find another hotel so stayed, wish we didn't. Was not told of steak night or...
