What a great find! Lovely traditional pub with good food and great staff. They have their own session beer too. Very nice. Just don't try the car park in anything bigger than a mini!!

We've been coming here for about 4 years now and the food is amazing, We've never had a bad meal and always good homemade food full of flavour! Thank you Dani, George and team!

A pleasant visit, warm place not too busy for a Sunday afternoon. The food took a while to arrive but was very acceptable. The plates however are a puzzle ! Bowls are not really suited to Sunday roast, never the less we would probably go back.

1st time at this lovely pub. Food was perfect. They went above and beyond for my Husbands intolerance. Will definitely be back

Smelt a bit smokey, I expect the locals are allowed to smoke in the pub at night or the staff do, there was no fire on so it didn't come from that and no other explanation can be available because it has been soooo long since smoking indoors isn't allowed

A cracker of a local village pub. Great ales, the best ham, eggs and chips I had in a long time, and cosy fire for winter and garden out back for summer. Friendly staff too. Nothing not to like. Puttenham residents are lucky to have it. Others should use it more too.

Can't comment on the food as have only been in for a drink ( so far ) but its a lovely pub inside with a nice garden out the back too and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Stayed at the campsite “Waggoners” and this pub is a short distance away (4k) Had the fish & chips which was superb, batter was crisp and light. Highl recommend, friendly staff and inviting pub. Great traditional village pub!

Didn't have any of the food so can't comment on it, but this is a very cosy and well looked-after pub. I was served quickly and had a few different ciders to choose from. Tables were clean, as were the toilets. A great pit stop on my walk around Puttenham.

Away on business trip and chose the good intent for dinner.. did not disappoint.. we had the homemade burgers washed down with a pint of Brixton ipa.. quality food, quality beer ..Great service.. highly recommend

Great village pub atmosphere and location, real top quality Ales. I had the Greek Pork Giro for dinner was amazing the best I ever had. The fine shaved pork meat with no fat on it, the light fluffy Pita bread and triple cooked fries, and amazing sauce in the Giros, with fresh onions and tomatoes. If you like Greek food and Giros you really wont tase better and the portions are big. Adam

Nice pub and the food they could deliver was good, unfortunately they only had 2 of four starters and ran out of burgers, then wouldn't do a halloumie starter even though it was as main?! And most other things didn't seem to be available pretty poor show

Lovely place, recommended to me, had high expectations and wasn’t disappointed. Food was amazing! Big portions, we didnt have dessert only because we were so full from the lovely main. We had a pulled pork burgers.

What a lovely little country pub. It’s the first place you can spend money walking east from Farnham on the North Downs Way, but it doesn’t disappoint. Fantastic burger and chips, a lovely few beers in a pub which sits in the heart of its community.

Extremely disappointing experience. The girls at the bar couldn’t raise a smile when they served our drinks. The garden is awful, half is sectioned off and you are left with garden seats with no cushions and are surrounded by dead plants, scruffy stool to sit on and a filthy garden parasol. All sadly neglected, we moved on. I can see they serve a decent Sunday Lunch but we were put off by the unwelcoming staff and won’t return for a while.

A lovely pub with a great atmosphere and excellent food. We had Sunday lunch and the meal was tasty and generous. The staff did a wonderful job in a very busy setting.

This pub is the quintessential English country pub. The setting is so pretty and inside it’s even nicer. Inglenook fireplace, open fire, cosy, warm, lovely atmosphere and friendly locals. My meal of Spare Ribs, Triple cooked chips and coleslaw( homemade of course) was really yummy, generous portions, really tasty and served on a wooden platter. My fellow diner ordered Good Intent burger with chips. Again very tasty, succulent and well cooked generous portions and beautifully presented. I highly recommend this pub. It ticks all the boxes 👍

Such a lovely classic pub, haven't been here for a few years but glad to see absolutely nothing has changed. A warm welcome to a beautiful bar area, half full already 10 mins after opening. Food was excellent and a superb Guinness to match. Highly recommended.

Being in Surry we blessed with a lot of good country pubs. This place is definitely one of them. Amazing Sunday Roast, cooked perfectly, huge portions and full of flavours. Lovely fire place , few friendly dogs and amazing service . It doesn’t have too many tables so I would advised booked ahead. We were looked after by Marlena.on several occasions . Lovely Lady, very friendly , exceptional customer service, and came over a few times to make sure all is ok and if there is anything else required . Dont enjoy to much as we would like to still be able to get in :)))

We enjoyed a good Sunday roast after sharing chicken wing starter. Best to arrive early if you want to get a table as very popular with dog walkers. A good selection of beer and wine.

Such a great bar. The staff are so lovely and chatty. The food was brilliant, proper hearty British food. It has a very cosy feel inside. My partner only popped in by chance and really happy we did.

Terrible welcome - the lady serving behind the bar was incredibly rude and dismissive. Absolutely zero customer service skills. Huge let down and such a shame. I asked a simple question about the wine and i was met by the worlds biggest eye roll. I believe the lady concerned was the landlady according to friends. Keep treating your customers like that and you will not go far.

A group of 18 walkers booked our lunch at The Good Intent the service from start to Finish was excellent . Booked tables & food in advance as requested . We were very warmly welcomed even provide slip overs for muddy boots if needed. Service excellent , food the best and excellent value . A lovely pub in a lovely setting whether your a walk group or looking for a real Pub this is the one to visit .

We visited this beautiful, tasteful and and extremely well situated pub for the second time today to eat. As before the food was superb and the staff exemplary. Once again very good value for money. Only negative comment sadly that must be made. The meal was somewhat spoilt by 3 dogs in the indoor dining room that barked almost incessantly while we ate. We would have hoped that the manager may have asked the owners to take them outside to the garden. Possibly think twice about returning in winter. Trying to eat whilst in close quarters to 3 barking uncontrolled dogs wandering around is not acceptable. Such a shame.

Lunch with two buddies. Good English pub food, well priced and served with a smile. Recommend Ham, egg and chips followed by superb quality ice ceram.

A brilliant lunch at the Good Intent. We hosted my birthday there, and they were so accommodating. Great food, great service, very helpful in a wonderful location. I was walking the North Downs Way so a great place to stop and celebrate with friends and family. All the food was freshly cooked and delicious!

Popped in for a sandwich lunch whilst walking along the North Downs Way. Great sandwiches with very generous fillings (you could share one if you like a smaller portion size).

The bad intent. Very rude staff, the guy at the bar and the short blonde lady were not welcoming at all, such an ugly attitude. I think they should not work in hospitality if they can't be kind to customers. Get another job love!

The perfect place to stop for a pint and a bite to eat after/during a walk on the North Downs Way. The atmosphere and service were pitched just right for a country pub and the food was delicious. Will definitely be going back.

Beautiful pub! We had the most amazing evening celebrating dads 60th party on Saturday! George and Dani are brilliant!! Exceptional customer service! Fantastic atmosphere, yummy food and the fairy lights topped it off! It looked beautiful. Thank you George and Dani for everything.

This place would have got higher had it not been for the lack of understanding and compassion. We were doing a charity walk with a group of young people and this pub happened to be the half way point. It was very quiet and some of our group wanted to buy food and drink. But some had packed lunches. So we decided to sit in the garden. All but two of our group ordered some food and drink and we sat down to eat our picnics. It was at this point a member of staff came and told us that we couldn't eat our own food on the premises if we hadn't purchased anything (all but two people had). I asked if they'd make an exception as we were on a charity walk and the reply was a shrug and, "Still can't". I understand that it's a business but it would be nice if there was a bit of understanding and compassion for a group of teenagers who were giving up their time for a good cause. Credit where it's due though, I had some chips and they were delicious!

Great pub, good food, good service, lovely location, just be sure to get there early for the bar/ garden menu. If you want to sit inside, booking is essential especially in weekends.

Best pint of Guinness I've had since moving down south 12 years ago. Perfectly poured by the barman. Fantastic service by the bar staff. Looking forward to trying the food here.

Great food good value for money

A welcome stop off on the North Downs Way. I was on my own in the small snug of this cute pub, where I drank a couple of pints made by Crafty Brewing: Good Intent Golden Ale and Crafty Brewing Hop Tipple IPA, which they had on offer. Very decent and a bargain for Surrey at £3.50.

Actually never tried the food but the atmosphere and service was great. Will leave an edit once I do try the food

Wonderful little pub, really nice friendly atmosphere, lots of cozy corners to sit in. Came in soaked through from a long walk in the rain and the barman promptly had us seated and served up food and drink to get us ready for being back in the elements

Lovely food and staff, worth booking a day in advance if you're visiting at the weekend. Possibly slightly over salted we were on the fence on this, certainly not enough to stop me going back.

We are regular visitors to this traditional British and friendly Pub. We are always pleased with the food and comprehensive choice of wines and beers. The current managers have a well deserved reputation for excellent hospitality. If you are nearby definitely give this place a try! Dog friendly too.

This is a good find and I highly recommend it. Good value.

Had a lunch Saturday for 13. Excellent service by very attentive staff. Fabulous food and deserts. Very satisfied!. Parking is tricky as it's on the main street of this ancient village. whicgoes back to

Lovely Danny offered me a glass of water, I was very drunk and having a lovely time, this gentle gesture helped me soldier on into the early hours

Very rude staff. I ordered chicken wings with extra spicy sauce, the waitress who brought over the food asked if I wanted a glass of water with it as it is “very spicy”, I thanked her and said no I will be fine. Then she reiterated and said it is VERY SPICY, you will need some water. I said again that thank you but no I won’t need it, I can handle what I had ordered. The wings weren’t even spicy, I was trying to enjoy it but she stopped by AGAIN, and said “are you sure you don’t want some water” and smirked at me like “girl, don’t pretend you’re fine”. I found her attitude extremely rude and that is a very poor at customer service. I was mid conversation with my friends and she would not stop being “attentive” aka trying to suggest that I can’t handle the spicy food. It was completely unnecessary. When I told her that her attention is not needed, and I felt her attitude was condescending, she did apologise. But I felt that I should not need to break from conversation with my friend to alert service staff that she was being rude. The smirk was not humorous, it was rude and in poor taste.

Nice little pub with great food

Just went in for a print and chips. Good selection of ales and the side of chips were very nice. Pleasant service.

First visit since the pandemic. I think it’s changed hands. Four of us enjoyed lunch, fish and chips and burgers with halloumi. All very nice plus well kept beers. Friendly and prompt service and reasonable prices. Will definitely visit again and recommend. The entrance to the car park is narrow. There are generally parking spaces along the lane outside.

As usual we’ve got a very warm welcome- also for the dogs. The atmosphere is very cosy and the Hogstar a great lager if you like it a bit more flavoured than mass lagers. The highlight were the ribs, back on the menu after the winter break.

It's okay, they have beer so not all bad...

One of the best pubs. Quiet surroundings. Clean facilities. Very kind staff. Food and beverages at reasonable prices. Delicious food and loads of food choices. Although, you have to ask if steaks are still available. Definitely recommend!!

Fantastic food, really worth a visit!

This pub is an absolutely gorgeous place, from service, to interiors. And the food was just beautiful! Typical local village pub, very cozy, lovely atmosphere. A lot of locals at the bar and dining section, very intimate. Children's roast was probably as big as adults, and may I say, best roast I've ever had!!!!

Came across this pub by accident as the pub on the main road was closed for refurbishment. What a find, beautiful traditional Ale House , lovely staff, 100% recommended. Will be returning!

Please don’t complain about your meal as you will be banned from the pub. I have been going there 14 years and my brother complained about his meal and they banned me not hardly a way to run a business.

Busy but not so busy they couldn't take 2 walk-ins for a Sunday roast. Cosy pub with a good atmosphere. We had a Turkey roast and veg Wellington roast between us and were both very happy with the quality, Yorkshire pudding, crispy spuds and delicious carrots. Good service and reasonable price. I imagine we'll be back.

We booked the pub for a buffet post funeral at Guildford Crematorium. The food was excellent, the pub was charming, the Hosts were perfect - attentive but not intrusive. Everyone commented that it was the perfect venue. A big thank you to the Landlord for providing the perfect venue.
