A St Ives institution, with a table for two in a cosy corner on a Wednesday evening in February. The restaurant was busy, service was friendly and the menu offered lots of choice. We opted for starters of Cornish scallops pan fried and with Cornish sausage and apple coulis and Prawn Cocktail with a generous portion of prawns in a tangy Marie Rose sauce. I’m almost ashamed to say I then went for filet steak which was cooked to perfection whilst my husband had the fish platter - grilled seabass with a hint of balsamic, tiger prawns and scallop cooked in garlic butter, grilled lemon sole and beer-battered cod - all fresh and totally enjoyed. We shared a sticky toffee pudding which was light, had plenty of toffee sauce and was served with clotted cream - what else! Super meal.

What a find! The food in thisseafoodd bar is fantastic! The Salt and Pepper Squid is the best dish of Squid that I have had. Somebody knows what they are doing in the kitchen. We followed this with the crab tacos, great flavours, but the seafood chowder topped it all.

We ordered lobster roll expecting some beautifully presented lobster curled round a tasty dressing. What turned up was a scant tablespoon of chopped overcooked lobster in a cold, cheap, tasteless white finger roll of bread that would have disgraced the bargain shelf of the cheapest supermarket. It was inedible. The side of hispi cabbage was well cooked, thankfully, or I would have left feeling very hungry. There are no loos. You have to use the dimly lit and droughty public loos in the adjacent council carpark. This is possibly the worst restaurant in St. Ives.
