Very friendly staff and so helpful. Fish and chips superb, lovely crispy batter and the fish pure white, chips crispy and food piping hot. Service was excellent and would highly recommend a visit.

Lovely meal and staff very knowledgable and accommodating for gluten free guests with a separate fryer and even gluten free curry sauce and vinegar! Friendly servers and even dog friendly! All food was delicious and so many options!! Couldn’t recommend more!

We came at a quiet time and easy to get a table. We had the Tacos which were excellent and the lunchtime special fish and chips (which represented good value). All freshly prepared to order.

Got takeaway fish and chips, ordered on line and collected. Piping hot, ready on time and delicious, best curry sauce ever and lovely crispy batter.

Unwelcoming and rude staff, mr Ovidiu. He refused to explain the authenticity of gluten free products. He explained to a customer before and expected me to listen and understand and don’t ask again.

Fantastic find! We had our hearts set on having some lobster whilst on holiday in St Ives but nowhere had any. Until we tried this restaurant. We had scallops to start which were fantastic, we have scallops as often as possible and these were cooked as good as any we’ve had. We shared a small lobster which was reasonably priced. We could have eaten one each but it seemed a bit excessive! A large between us would have probably worked better but they were sold out. The service was excellent and staff very friendly. This place really deserves a higher billing.

We had a superb quality meal at this beautiful homely restaurant. It looked welcoming and the service fulfilled the expectations. Really friendly, fast service and food at a quality you’d expect in the highest quality restaurants. We had the chowder which was full of fish, the calamari which was fantastic and the fish and chips (lightly battered) with the moules as mains. The fish was stunning and the moules absolutely beautiful. Will definitely be back!

We were in St Ives in November with dogs and were looking for a place to eat, whilst walking through St Ives we noticed that By the Sea Restaurant in Chapel Street was dog friendly so we popped in and booked a table. That evening the staff were extremely friendly and we enjoyed a really good meal. The food was delicious and I would recommend By the Sea to anyone with or without dogs.

Visited St Ives and chose this restaurant solely because of the ‘voted in top 10’ poster claims in window. Ordered lunch offer of cod fillet, chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce along with a drink. Fish was dry, chewy and thin although batter nice. Chips were underwhelming, again dry and lots of unappealing ones so that you had to search out a decent one. Mushy peas were not nice unusual sweetness and very runny. The saving grace of the whole meal was the delicious tartare sauce! Service was good and staff very pleasant but honestly struggle to understand how this is award winning food.

Visited our local fish and chip restaurant for what we thought would be reasonably priced meal bearing in mind, of course, that prices have gone up but at £16.50 for haddock and chips, economy was clearly off the menu. The fish and batter were delicious, the chips awful, powdery and fake inside. To cap it all they charged us 12% service AND, can you believe this: £1 for a dash of HP Sauce and £1 for a tiny splash of vinegar...in a fish and chip shop!!! Unbelievable. Beware - it's why they don't put vinegar or any sauces on the table. The young lady who served us was very efficient and poilte so not her fault but do give this one a miss.

Went here as they advertised lobster on the menu which my wife wanted and the reviews were all good. Booked a table and a small lobster - when we arrived there was only one other table taken. Lobster was good. For me I was surprised that of the 5 fish offerings, 2 were un available and the 3rd had only one portion left. Unfortunately what I wanted wasn’t one of them. Mine was ok but only ok The staff left the front door open which for October made it chilly. We might have gone for deserts but gave up and went home. No atmosphere I’m afraid.

Due to the inclement weather we decided to go for take away although the full menu looks very comprehensive too Ordered online and collected promptly- very nice calamari and crispy chips Highly recommended Hope to try the full menu soon It’s a little hidden away but worth looking for ( the right of the Co-op opposthe cinema)

This is the second time we have visited this restaurant the first time was last year. We were not disappointed the food was fantastic my husband had the crab salad I had the fishcakes The service was excellent extremely good value for money we will return.

If what you are after is a chippy shop, this is one step above. It’s unpretentious and the food is good, the place is small so I recommend booking. The grilled fish was tasty enough, and it wasn’t dry while the fried selection of starters was crunchy but not oily which I really enjoyed. My partner got the fish taco, which I wasn’t a fan of as the shell was bland and the filling didn’t seem very well balanced. Overall the place was good, but not memorable. I would recommend for an easy day out.

Popped by this evening - 28th August1 for either a solo dinner or takeout. The restaurant half full. Two stressed, disinterested staff on duty. The young guy in the headband could not have been more rude or disinterested in service. Whoever owns the place needs to think about who they have greeting customers. Food good enough but slightly bland. Service even for take away woeful and means you lose out on future business from my family and I and others.

My main course of scallops, prawns, with chips was excellent and not overpriced. My black americano coffee was the best I've had in St Ives. I dislike the fact that a 12.5% service charge is automatically added to the bill, as I like to add that myself, reflecting the level of service I receive. However you are warned of this on the menu.

Very well cooked seafood dishes and friendly service. Starters are a good size, a couple of these per person probably enough unless you are starving. Sea bream main was nice and crispy with a tasty sauce and vegetables.
