Eat on the Green

Mid Formartine, Aberdeenshire
16/12/2018: Quite possibly the finest food experience I've ever had. We went to Eat on the Green for our "works do" last night, heard rave reviews so we were expecting something special. However the staff produced more than I could have ever thought possible. The service is the best ive seen anywhere and couple with the most amazing food, I can see why it's so popular. An outstanding job by everyone that works there, will definitely be going again in the new year
12/12/2018: Just a wonderful relaxed Sunday lunch with my wife of 45 years. Its the attention to detail that singles out Eat on the Green. My wife is gluten and dairy intollerent. Seamlessly the chefs adapted what was her choice to accomodate her needs. Oatcakes rather than bread, just as an example. Superb food, great service and not too disaterous a bill. Go and try.

Nooks and Crannies

Fraserburgh and District, Aberdeenshire
25/11/2018: We were very warmly greeted on our first visit.
25/11/2018: went to the coffee shop with family for a cuppa and a news. Service great and the atmosphere is good. It is small but cosy..Really friendly staff and pleasant..The food is delicious and the scones and pancakes to die for. Good value. A must for all to visit.

Platform 22

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Aberdeenshire
14/11/2018: What a nice little cafe. We stoped on our way to Balmoral Castle. We both had scones, Red Leicester and chilli (just out of the oven) & Stilton and Fig, both were first class and very tasty, both came with a sweet chutney. Coffee was nice and hot, just way I like it. Found out they do Pizza night every now and again in the evening, we will defo be back.
13/10/2018: Very nice character cafe/bistro with wide selection of food and drinks to suit most tastes. They welcome visitors for just coffee to drink in or take away through to full three course meals. The cake selection was very good. Recommend the soups and the deserts/ cake varieties.

The Creel Inn

Stonehaven and Lower Deeside, Aberdeenshire, 20-30£
07/12/2018: I Decided to take the wife here for her birthday as she loves seafood. It was a terrible night with wind and rain but once inside there was an open fire and it was nice and cosy.
21/11/2018: Visited the Creel Inn for an anniversary party and was not disappointed. The staff were very plesant and attentive and the food was to die for. Cant wait to re-visit

Shahi Darbar

Inverurie and District, Aberdeenshire, >100£
16/12/2018: Stop bye on the way home from a wedding held locally, tempted by a notion for some pakora. This was late on a saturday night about 11pm, indications were that the premises were still open but on entering the 2 staff members realised they had left the open sign on. However, even though I was not wanting to put them out at that late time, they happily created some pakora for the wife and myself to eat when we arrived home. I can only say a big thank you to both staff members on this occasion for their excellent service and hopefully at some point we can sample their cuisine properly in the near future.
06/12/2018: We recently had a takeaway from Shahi Darbar and could not have asked for more. The food was incredible and the staff greeting us, both on the phone and at the counter, were a delight. We will definitely be back!

India on the Green

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Aberdeenshire, 20-30£
18/12/2018: Loved the food and the service was even better. We were there in November (low season) and it was a great experience. It was the first time in Scotland and everyone was nice and helpful. You go to a restaurant to eat good food, and we were so delighted by the food and the recommendations were spot on. I would highly recommend India on the Green.
12/12/2018: Quiet Tuesday evening, very warm welcome.

Inverurie and District, Aberdeenshire, <20£
12/12/2018: Honestly the best Christmas lunch I have had for a long long time. Although the restaurant was busy we received excellent service. We will definitely be back.
09/12/2018: We only dine here once a year as it's a handy mid point meeting place when we have pre-christmas lunch with my cousin who lives a good distance away. We've always enjoyed our lunch at Fennel over quite a few years now but all 3 of us agreed that this year it was the best it has been. The menu is large and varied and the food is delicious, piping hot and really tasty. It should also be mentioned that all the staff were really welcoming and attentive and helped make this a really enjoyable dining experience.

The Bothy

Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside, Aberdeenshire
26/11/2018: Visited twice this weekend. First time for a sandwich/ toasties / cakes in the afternoon and second time for breakfast. On both occasions the food was really good. The toasties and sandwiches came with a nice salad and dressing. Coffee was good quality and the cakes are homemade, fresh and delicious. (Even despite the banana and cinnamon muffin I had today being vegan which often means tasteless!). Breakfast was lovely too. Good portions and quality bacon / sausages. Really friendly staff and the cafe is warm and cosy on a cold winters day.
22/11/2018: During our holiday the Bothy has been our regular stop for morning coffee and scones. Both fruit and cheese scones are well worth a mid morning top up in a warm friendly atmosphere

The Coffee Apothecary

Ellon and District, Aberdeenshire
02/12/2018: Visited here for Sunday lunch with family while in Aberdeen for the weekend.
09/11/2018: Eaten here more times than I should have since my last review - usually breakfast, as I just can't get enough of the delicious 'green eggs' dish I have raved about before on here! Had a nice chat with the chap I think is the owner on one of these recent occasions. Late morning last Friday when we arrived all the tables were full - great to see this in a small, independent, local business. For a change, took visiting friends for lunch here on Wednesday - visitors said their food was excellent, & they loved the apple crumble with toffee sauce & ice cream that followed, my husband enjoyed his raspberry gateau but as ever, I couldn't possibly fit anything else after my main! I've been mentioning this place to pretty much everyone I come into contact with & can't recommend it highly enough, whether you just want a 'cuppa & fine piece', or a 3 course lunch, or anything in between. Service is right up there, too, & staff are delightful.

Lastbus Works Canteen

Fraserburgh and District, Aberdeenshire
02/10/2018: A vegetarian restaurant with a great view. The staff are brilliant and the food is freshly made and is very good. It's a must go to places a review would not do the restaurant justice so just go you wont be disappointed.
31/08/2018: Quirky. Wonderful. 60’s/70’s timewarp. Friendly and welcoming. All these words and phrases, and many more, go to sum up this uniquely unusual restaurant! It’s not the sort of restaurant/cafe that you happen upon by accident! You have to know where it is! And it’s worth the hunt!

Porterhouse Restaurant

West Garioch, Aberdeenshire, 30-45£
12/12/2018: Out with the family for a lovely Sunday lunch . Staff are friendly and service with a smile . Something a lot of places have forgotten about . Will definitely go again
12/12/2018: Excellent Sunday carvery. Good value at set price for 2 or three courses. Great choice from 3 roast joints and good selection of vegetables. All well cooked and well presented. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good atmosphere with plenty of space between tables. Not fancy but clean, tidy and welcoming. Other menu choices available and a good children's menu.

Birdhouse Cafe

Banchory and Mid Deeside, Aberdeenshire
02/11/2018: We are in Banchory for a weekend wedding and needed some lunch so popped in here.
15/10/2018: I’ve visited here on numerous occasions, by myself, with friends and with my young family. Every time, the food and service has been excellent. This is always my number one go to for coffee and cake in the area. The portions are really generous and good value for money. I’ve tried numerous things on the menu and all have been excellent (the soup is always brilliant and comes with lots of lovely bread) and the open sandwiches are served with a lovely dressed salad and nice crisps. The owners are always extremely polite and welcoming. It’s a really small and cosy cafe and always busy which is a good sign! Would recommend 100%

Tolbooth Restaurant

Stonehaven and Lower Deeside, Aberdeenshire, 45-60£
18/12/2018: Tiny portions, really disappointing to pay so much for so little food! It was nice enough, but expected better. Tiny and pretentious usually means bags of flavour and taste, but this was just tiny. Barely any veg, small amount of meat. Service was pretty slow, and I asked for another drink at one point and never got it.
09/12/2018: The food was well prepared and presented but the portions were very small. If you're on a diet then this is the place to dine.

Cool Gourmet

Stonehaven and Lower Deeside, Aberdeenshire
16/12/2018: Had the most wonderful festive afternoon tea today. A tasty selection of sandwiches followed by gorgeous homemade cakes and scones. So much we had to get a doggy bag. Lovely atmosphere and staff were wonderful as always.
14/12/2018: It had a very calming atmosphere, the staff were very polite and lovely, the food was really nice and the building was really beautiful

Scots Corner

Mearns, Aberdeenshire, <20£
16/10/2018: Had a lovely meal here Sunday evening with friends and family. Kids menu for £3.75 and adult carvery 2 for £23 with an extra plate for a child at no extra cost. Drinks, sharing starters and puddings too for 9, total bill was less than £110. Will definitely go again. Thanks everyone for a superb night x
13/10/2018: Having lived 5 miles from Scot's Corner for 11 years, tonight was the first time we had visited it, as it was recently recommended by some friends so my wife and I thought we'd try it.
