Kildrummy Inn in Aberdeenshire

My husband and I went out ad hoc for the day as it was our anniversary. I haven't been well so we didn't book anywhere to eat as we weren't sure if I would be able to go out. Hence we were dressed in our everyday comfy attire and was just looking for a pub tea somewhere. On our way home we stumbled on Kildrummy Inn which looked very nice but still expected it to be an ordinary run hotel. We walked in to find the most beautiful restaurant in an hotel and were greeted so warmly as if dressed like the other guests whom at all made an effort.. From that moment on the experience grew. The host I think named David showed us through to a beautiful warm fire, it was freezing, then took our drinks order, which came with the most delicious complimentary nibbles, he also spent a long answering all my husbands questions about the Inn. He took our order and I mentioned I normally had a Diane Sauce with my steak, which wasn't on the menu, "No problem Madam, our Chef would be happy to make that for you". Can I say I have never had a nicer Diane Sauce, the whole meal and every member of staff could not have made our visit more attentive or special. During our meal after our starter we had a surprise complimentary tomato consume, again delicious. We came to realised the restaurant is normally well booked in advance but we couldn't have been luckier as there was a last minute cancellation, so be aware a booking in advance is normally required. If your in the area or happy to travel a wee bit please don't miss out on this experience. Yes a bit more expensive than an ordinary pub lunch but we have paid more for a less superior meal or experience in other locations, hence worth every penny. Please take the opportunity to frequent, you will not be disappointed both the food and drinks choices are excellent and you will leave having had a guaranteed very special evening.

Just stopped of for some lunch at the Kildrummy Inn. Excellent meal, beautiful surroundings, and high-class decor. Best fish and chips we have had this year. Batter was lovely along with chips and mushy peas. Highly recommend this place to have a meal out. Will be back.. 10/10..

The restaurant and public rooms are really lovely, quite the wow factor. A friendly welcome and interaction from all staff. Some nice touches such as nibbles with pre dinner drinks and an amuse-bouche. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Here comes the but! We arrived hungry after a days work, my husband left hungry and I was still peckish after three courses, he had to have a snack when we arrived home. The portions are very small, paying extra for bread or more vegetables is an option but you don’t know it will be needed when ordering. Bread included with the starter would be good idea and is needed. I would eat here again for the taste experience but would make sure I was not hungry on arrival.

Stopped in at the Kildrummy Inn at the weekend for some drinks on our drive home. Lovely hotel, great interiors and a relaxing atmosphere. However, we were shocked to find out that a pint of soda water and lime (ordered by the drivers in our group) cost £8!! More expensive than a pint of lager on their menu. Considering that a pint of soda water and lime costs £1.50 or less in Central London we were extremely shocked and disappointed. We raised this with the manageress who wasn't at all forgiving and seemed to normalise this extortionate cost. Very disappointing.

Absolutely fantastic! Whilst visiting from Manchester with our family from Udny we thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch. I will go as far to say this was the best Sunday lunch I have ever had! Our first visit to Kildrummy Inn since its extensive renovations and we were not disappointed. The whole experience was fantastic - from the friendly team who were keen to make us comfortable and welcome, to the high quality, tasteful, traditional interiors with a modern twist, to the brilliant food. Highly recommend taking a coffee in the lovely lounge area after your meal. Our only regret was not booking in to stay the night!

Overnight stay, dinner, bed & breakfast. Could not recommend this place highly enough. The owners were absolutely amazing from start to finish and made us feel so welcome and so at home. The room we stayed in (the Willows) was stunning and beautifully refurbished with unique Victorian shower. The restaurant was stunning and food absolutely incredible. The lounge and whisky snug for drinks both before & after dinner were both amazing, and complete such a perfect venue with all you need under 1 roof. Breakfast the next day absolutely delicious too. Will definitely be back again to check out the terrace outside.

Went for lunch on a Saturday, everything was quality from the minute we arrived. The staff were professional, welcoming and knowledgeable. Great menu choice at very reasonable prices for the high quality. The food was excellent, every course really was fantastic. Looking forward to when we go back.

It is a long time since we have been to Kildrummy (11 years actually when our friends Daz & Sylv were the proprietors). We wanted something special and local for a birthday treat and this is certainly what we got! The Inn has been upgraded and is absolutely stunning. What was the old hall is now the main restaurant. The decor and feel of the place is luxurious but relaxed. Staff were friendly and the new owner so pleasant and interested in her guests. The food wow - delicious. We both had the roast beef which was perfection. For dessert the brownie also delicious. They even have a wide range of mocktails for the non drinkers. Finally an adult non alcoholic choice, very rare. It is like a mini ‘Fife Arms’ but the food is so much better. (I hope that doesn’t offend) We will definitely be back.

An amazing dinner experience, started with a wee drink in the whisky lounge where we were able to consider out dinner choices and place our order while snacking on truffle popcorn and olives. Proceeded with an incredible dinner or partridge and pork belly to start and followed by venison and chicken. Honestly, the whole menu sounded amazing and we will be back to try more! The staff was also incredible and so nice to chat to, would recommend to anyone who will listen!

We had lunch here with our good friends, up from England. They’d booked it as despite living in Aberdeen, we hadn’t realised what a gem this place is. Fabulous decor, really lovely service and delicious food, catering to all tastes. They also have 4 bedrooms, a lovely small lounge, a whisky bar and a small private dining room, all exquisitely decorated. We loved it and will definitely go back! Well done guys!!

A beautifully and interestingly decorated place but wait until you get the food! Our meal was excellent. A big variety of flavours attractively presented and served by enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly people. Totally accommodating and even offered to do a dish on the starter menu as a main. When the food came it was easy to see why they were Michelin recommended and have 2 AA rosettes for culinary excellence. Superb. Well done all.

WOW! I have been meaning to come here for a very long time and today the need to get my daughter's 7 month old twins to nap meant the trip from home to Kildrummy was the perfect length. We were most certainly not disappointed: I had duck parfait with brioche toast, my son-in-law a burger and my daughter soup and a BLT baguette and we couldn't resist 3 sticky toffee puddings. All this is food you can find anywhere on any menu in many restaurants but.... the Kildrummy elevate it to another level. Every mouthful was delicious! The tablet that came with the coffee was the perfect ending to a lunch that we all agreed, must be repeated.

When you say we had fish / chips and burger / chips it doesn’t sound too exciting does it, however, at The Kildrummy Inn the ordinary becomes exceptional. I had the fish , the batter was so light and crispy and the chips were cooked to perfection. My brother in law had the burger and he enthused over both the quality of the burger and the home made mayonnaise. We also had posset and chocolate mousse which again were of the highest quality. Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely worth a visit and we intend to return as soon as possible.

We had a fantastic dinner and overnight stay at The Kildrummy. The Inn is decorated beautifully with a cozy, welcoming feel. The food is first class with first class service to match. David, Sophie and all the staff were welcoming, chatty and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt really well looked after. I cannot recommend this place enough, we will definitely be returning.

What a wonderful place , we managed to sit outside for pre lunch drinks as weather was gr8 . The inside dining area is lovely and not too big . There was plenty of choice on the menu and service with a smile. There is a whisky bar through from the dining area which is special. Thoroughly recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

Called in looking for lunch as we headed to the coast, thankfully they took us in and we were not disappointed. We were not overly hungry so opted for a starter and dessert. Hubby took the smoked salmon, very tasty and the dressing was divine, I had the blue cheese and rocket salad, very fresh and the cheese was amazing. We shared a warm brownie for dessert and having had many brownies over the years it was right up there. It is a rural place however very busy, a real treat. The dinner menu looks stunning, and we were advised that all produce is local which is brilliant, it is a pity we were not there for evening dining.

On our way home and feeling hungry decided to stop at kildrummy inn. Well what’s place it was tastefully decorated. The food was excellent as was the service. Would thoroughly recommend this.

On recommendation of a friend we took the opportunity whilst in the area to have lunch. The surroundings are beautiful, classy yet homely, my husband commented the toilets were amongst the “fanciest” he’s seen! Our young waitresses were very pleasant and polite. All the food was delicious and served quickly without feeling rushed. We will in turn be recommending it to others, look forward to returning.

That would be a good plan just so you know. Making more room For more heavenly sustenance to go. We went on a Sunday eve, I’m penning this on Monday morn. Feel it brewing now, Since I’ve abated my horn. Alas, there is one flaw, A fly in the ointment if you will. The cost versus quantity, The shock flabbergasted, Though it wasn’t shrill. Make no mistake, This establishment is reaching far the heavens above. Or perhaps, just Michelin stars. Those plates are created will skill and love. The magic happening in that kitchen, They’ll undoubtedly continue strength to strength and indeed, will go far. To conclude, should you have any doubt, If you’re looking for the best food in Scotland, Not just the north east, In fact, some of the best food I’ve eaten in my life to date. Go to kildrummy inn, For your eyes and tastebuds it’s a feast. Do it after payday, else ones account will be in spate. As the French say, je suis fin ;)

Visited my brother and his wife who took us to this delightful restaurant. This was a fine dining experience with excellent service. I recommend the Beef two ways. Beef cheek to die for. The sommelier also gave his advice in a well explained way and really knew his wines. Five satisfied diners and well worth the travel.
