The Seafront Cafe & Takeaway in Aberdeenshire

Macduff is a bit limited in the food stakes but this small cafe more than makes up for that. A warm welcome, decent menu, and fair prices. Filling portions, service was speedy. Does a range of full meals and lighter bites. Fully wheelchair accessible. Recommended!

The staff were very friendly in this spotlessly clean cafe across from the interesting harbour. The menu was varied, the food was excellent, and the prices VERY VERY reasonable!

Great food. Honestly it was the best roll in bacon and egg I've ever had!! My two boys both finished their rolls. A rare feat. I'll be back.

Came in for lunch at 12pm. As it is a small place there were no seats available which was not a problem! We decided to go for a takeaway instead. There aren't many tables since it is such a small place. There were at least 6 tables full, 2 couples had came in after we had ordered and were sat waiting with their menus infront of them for the entire 30 minutes we were stood waiting for simple soup and sandwiches. The waitress seemed to not know what to do with herself as she walked around aimlessly not really helping out what i presume is the owner or the kitchen. I am aware it is new owners from previous? I think there either needs to be more training for everyone or more staff as it was just not being handled well at all. Apart from all this food was very nice, hopefully next time we visit they have gained better organisational skills.

It's been a while since we were last in Macduff so this was like coming home. A really friendly welcome and (hurrah!) Cullen Skink was on the menu. A superb example of this local dish. This was accompanied by a perfect decaf mocha, served in a glass as it should be. Were we tempted by the pecan roulade? Of course we were, and it didn't disappoint! The Seafront seems as popular with locals as it is with visitors - and rightly so.

Are lunch at the Sea Front Cafe yesterday. The food was delicious! I had the soup and sandwich and my friend had a chicken wrap. My Bacon and Brie panini with cranberry chutney/sauce was perfect. I left with a takeaway Millionaire Brownie and it lived up to its name! The staff was super friendly.

Im Juni 22 hier gewesen. Über die Freundlichkeit in Schottland muss man nichts mehr sagen, man wird hier ein besserer Mensch. Das Café hat Chrme und einen unerwarteten ruhigen Garten hinterm Haus. Die Sonne schien, Cappuccino und Millionär Cake, einfach perfekt.

My wife and I stopped for lunch during our honeymoon. Up to this point I was having no luck with the food in Scotland, and the chicken mozzarella toasty was one of the best things I've eaten in general, the best thing in Scotland.

Stopped in past on way up to Inverness for a short break - the food was delicious and super fresh, kids even commented that it was the best toastie ever! I had Cullen Skink and will be making a point of returning just for that - it was the best ive tasted for ages. Staff friendly and helpful - we also purchased some homebakes to take with us and they were delicious. Will be back soon :-)

Would highly recommend this cafe, lovely staff and loads of choice! Chocolate cheesecake was fabulous!

A lovely cafe opposite the working harbour. We arrived as a family of 8, half an hour before closing for coffee and cake and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Fantastic selection of cakes including a number of gluten free options. There is also a food menu for those who come earlier… might be worth another visit! The boys also loved the ice cream tub selection. Well worth a visit.

We went for lunch to the Seafront Café, a beautifully decorated little place that looks out over Macduff Harbour. The food was delicious and served quickly by very friendly and helpful staff, despite them being incredibly busy. A truly lovely café with a cosy and friendly feel to it, would 100% recommend.

A quaint little cafe situated along the seafront in Macduff (as the name suggests). It was a horrific day weather wise - thankfully there were plenty of spaces along the street. We phoned the business in advance to book a table - please note, any time after 12pm will likely require pre-booking (stated by an employee). Before that, like when we arrived, it was quiet. As these difficult times require, we were asked to wear face masks. The staff also wore them. The two members of staff working here were extremely friendly and welcoming - just very nice people overall. The tables were well spaced out and we were provided with a high chair for our young boy. For food, I opted for a 'Roast Beef & Honey Mustard Panini' and my wife had the 'Brie & Cranberry Panini'. Both were served with 'Crisps, Coleslaw & Salad' and were lovely. As another safety measure, everything we were served was given to us on disposable crockery (and had plastic one use cutlery). No complaints with that at the moment. For a sweet finish, we both had 'Cakes', one slice of 'Chocolate Fudge Cake' and one slice of 'Coffee & Walnut Cake', both amazing! These were washed down with a 'Chocolate Milkshake' and a 'Latte'. The menu was really good - plenty on offer including an extensive range of 'Traybake' to buy and take away. Almost gave a five here but as great as it was, I wasn't blown away. That aside, I highly recommend this cafe run by some lovely people in a great setting along the Moray Coast!

Very very neat clean and tidy little cafe with the most delightful staff. Very nice to sit inside and enjoy the view over the harbour. We had fish and chips and it was truly excellent. Coffee good and nothing expensive. Excellent

Soup, Toasted sandwiches and Quiche were excellent in flavour and presentation. Delightful staff; spotless surroundings. Try their homebake selection, mouth watering! Highly recommend.

Great to have the cafe open albeit only for takeaways. The coffee and homemade shortbread is fantastic as well as the warm welcome you get from the owner who is working on her own for the time being.Well Done

We popped in lunch and we were certainly not disappointed. Although the quiche I had was not one of the best I have had the rest of my group were delighted what they choose. The tray cakes were all excellent as was the service.

This is a great cafe. It has really well priced breakfast range and then a fine lunch menu with several hot meals available as well as the usual sandwiches, paninis and soups. If you are in the mood for a treat the cakes are superb.I had a quiche with salad. It was a generous deep-filled slice, fresh and warm- often there are several quiche options- it came with ample coleslaw, salad and crisps and filled the plate, priced at £5.60. Ambience is fine, with fresh contemporary decor; everyone is catered for and the cafe is frequented by local people.It is pretty easy to get parked outside, opposite or nearby. They also have a tempting Festive menu planned.

Visiting the sea aquarium in Macduff we saw cards advertising this cafe. We had to ask directions to find it, but found a little gem. Only had a pot of tea & cake, but the apple & sultana cake I had was delicious, & very welcome on a chilly day. The cakes were homemade. Nice friendly staff too.

This is a lovely cafe overlooking the harbour. Had a nice coffee and some lovely cakes. I will definitely go back again next time i'm in the area.

Good size portions of good quality fresh home made food at a fair price and pleasant efficient service with a smile

We wanted somewhere to break the week long packed lunches whilst in holiday. The Seafront did that for us. We had paninis and the children had soup and toasties. All fresh ingredients and home made soup, lovely. Home baked cakes too follow, chocolate, caramel etc. All served with a smile and friendly conversation. If your sound for the aquarium perfect lunch stop.

Staying near by in a caravan site we were having a walk along the harbour at Macduff when we spotted the wee cafe. It was quite busy but managed to get a table. We had the Cullen skink it was delicious a long with a lovely freshly made sandwich. For being so busy service was very fast and lovely pot of tea. The young girl served us and she chatted away and we had a laugh with her . Very reasonable priced. Large selection of cakes. We decided we would buy one to take back to caravan for our cuppa in the afternoon. We bought one slice of cake which was ample between us it was quite big. Lovely we cafe with very friendly staff a must to visit when in area.

My friend and I are regular customers to this cafe . We can guarantee the scones are fresh daily ,as we always arrive as they are coming out off the oven . For the size off their kitchen ( which I can add is spotless ) they produce amazing food . We have had snacks ,breakfasts and amazing lunches . The staff are so friendly and helpful every time we are in .

I hate to leave a negative review so I will begin with the good bits.

Eravamo di passaggio all'ora di pranzo, ci siamo fermati per mangiare qualcosa velocemente. Forse non ci siamo capiti, avevo chiesto un toast prosciutto e formaggio senza pagare fritte con sola insalata. Le patatine fritte, che servono a parte, ovviamente non sono arrivate, nel piatto c'era il toast, una porzioncina di insalata, qualcosa con la maionese e delle patatine ( quelle confezionate ). Ho preso un dolce di cui non ricordo il nome che era buono. Lo staff è molto gentile.

Popped in here for tea and coffee, the lady that served us was very warm, friendly and chatty. Will definitely visit again for something to eat next time (as we had a large brekky in our caravan) as the menu looked very inviting, and that for the friendly service, we will be back.

On a return trip from Aberdeen the weather was so beautiful we had a detour to the coast. We found this gem of a cafe thanks to Trip Advisor . Located overlooking the harbour it looks welcoming and modern . The staff were very welcoming and gave us time to look at the menu and extensive specials board. I chose a bacon Brie and onion marmalade panini, which had lots of cheese! My wife had the quiche from the specials board , which came with salad and chips . Both meals were well presented and good size portions .

Stopped of for take out got soup, sandwich with salad plus juice and then sat down at harbour and ate my lunch tastiest lunch ever had, will be going back i highly recommend, price not bad either.

Been for a day trip with my partner and stopped here for lunch. After my meal I've decided to try a slice of avocado, lemon and lime cake. Super yummy!!! I loved it! I suggest you to try it even if you are not vegan or gluten free like me.

I called in for lunch with my brother and his family who were up visiting. There was a very friendly welcome and we were given plenty of time to decide what to order. All our food was delicious and the home-made quiche was amazing. We decided to tackle the massive cakes but I had to admit defeat! Really good food, very friendly staff and very reasonably priced.

Great lunch stop today for me and my cycling mates. Bikes can be safely stored behind the cafe. Food and service fantastic. Defo be back.

I used to think the best Cullen Skink was made by my grandmother who lived in Buckie. It was suggested I sample The Seafront Cafe's Cullen Skink — it really is something very special.

Easy and comfortable place to eat a spot of lunch. Lovely looking cakes and nice friendly people. With easy parking . Seats around 30 people .

A small place, but the Seafront delivers big flavors in a beautiful way. The food looks so pretty it’s a shame to gobble it down. But gobble I did. Tried several other, more expensive places, but kept coming back here. Everything was so fresh, well presented and plain delish. The desserts are amazing - I got them to go for later as I was too full after lunch. The staff and the obviously regular customers were friendly and helpful to a single gal far from home. I love this place! Be sure to give it a try!!

We travelled from Forres for a day out and we were finding it difficult to find somewhere to eat, we spotted a pub parked up, had a quick look in the pub and decided it was not for us. Walked along the sea front and spotted this little cafe, so popped in. It was was small and compact and very full, the people were very friendly and someone said they were going and gave us their table, which was very quickly cleared and relaid by some very friendly staff. It was table service and very prompt. There is a good menu from which we choice one of the special offers of the day, home made tomato soup and a ham sandwich and coffee. All arrived very swiftly and was very hot and fresh and the tomato soup was delious and the sandwich lovely and fresh. Excellent service and excellent food. Well worth a visit.

A delightful little cafe with amazing views of the harbour. We arrived starving and after they had officially stopped serving food but nothing was any bother to them. They managed to produce a couple of slices of delicious sausage, bacon and caramelised onion quiche with coleslaw, salad and crisps and a lovely cup of hot chocolate – perfect for a chilly December afternoon. The owner and two of her staff were very welcoming and friendly and with their fish supplier a stones throw from their front door, we're definitely going back to try the battered Haddock! I would highly recommend The Seafront as a fantastic place to stop for a bite to eat in lovely clean, fresh surroundings.

Highly recommend this cafe! Stunning views of macduff harbour outside the front window... Service is top notch very friendly by the lady with very short light hair. Food is just lovely cant fault it! Only comment would be take grated carrot of the side salad but thats me trying to find at least 1 thing wrong because realistically i cant find 1 bad point! The cafe is clean tidy and looks great. If i could make a suggestion it would be more " mains" on the menu but being a small cafe understandable theres just the special

We went for a cup of tea and a scone which was lovely. The food looked great and I will be back to sample more.

Nice pleasant little cafe, friendly staff, nicely situated to visit the harbour, however parking can be difficult and theirs no free Wi-fi or comfortable seating area (i.e. sofa), but nice cakes and food. But we would still visit again for a nice coffee and cake.

Lovely staff who didn’t bat an eyelid when our little girl unfortunately threw up all over the table! They went out of their way to clean up and find us somewhere to get her cleaned up, and then even made her a special order of beans! The food was tasty and arrived quickly. Thank you very much.

I heard this place just opened, which is maybe why they're so busy. I started with the carrot coriander soup, which was delicious! Next, I had pesto tomato quiche, also delicious. The desserts in the display case are works of art. This was the first place in all of the UK where I've seen key lime pie on the menu, so I couldn't resist. I must say, they got it close to perfect. I'm from Florida, and had a key lime tree out my front door, so I used to make it all the time. The Seafront's version had the flavors down perfect. As I told the server, the crust could be a little thinner, and the filling a little thicker, but they nailed it otherwise.

We had lunch here for a good. Delicious fish and chips with a lovely little side salad. Friendly staff and a lot of yummy pasteries!!

Recently eaten at The Seafront with my family for lunch after visiting the aquarium. An easy place to find in Macduff. It has got plenty of chairs and tables in the small compact restaurant size with very friendly staff.

Not the best The cakes looked good but I suspect bought in Soup was not homemade overall a bit pricey Only went as it was only place open Great location though Could do better

Saw the positive reviews for the Seafront cafe and spotted it when we were having a wander through macduff so thought we'd pop in for lunch.

This is a must stop place if you're travelling up the coast to Portsoy or Banff.

We were walking along the seafront and dropped in on this place. Attentive and smiling servers, but incredibly tasty desserts. We all had the haddock n chips followed by dessert. Hard to choose among the large variety, but we finally settled on three: pear and chocolate crumble with ice cream was best, but all three veeeery good.

Lovely tasty food served quickly and with a smile! Good for filled rolls, chips, soup, mac and cheese, cakes etc

I went for a takeaway at lunch. The café was clean but you could not get a seat and people were turned away as it was very busy but not much seating area. The seats are very close together so you could not really have a private conversation and the waitress had to squeeze past people. Its a shame everything looked crushed up with lack of space. The café would benefit from a bigger premises. My food arrived within 10 minutes and the place was clean. It would be better if prices were put up on the board so you didn't have to rake for a menu.

On the way from Crovie to the whisky trail, my wife and I stopped for lunch at this nice little cafe just by the sea. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The menu looked great and we ended up with a tasty baked potato with fresh prawns, a nice desert with coffee. Highly recommended stop for lunch anytime.

We stayed for lunch earlier this week, July 18 as we were passing through Macduff. The staff were very friendly & our lunch was excellent. Plenty of choice from menu available & superb selection of homemade cakes. Well worth a visit

Cosy little eatery which serves a lot of home cooking. Hope to visit regularly when in area to work my way thru the menu and daily specials. Very reasonably priced and a nice latte.

While out for a cycle I stopped for a coffee and a scone. I had a coffee with a cranberry & white chocolate scone served with butter & jam. The scone was warmed up and was very tasty. The cafe was nice and clean. The service was quick and efficient by friendly staff.

Took my neighbor here for our morning cuppa. She ended up with a plate of Cullen Skink first, which was delicious. A nice selection of home bakes. Had a table at the window over looking Macduff harbour. Nice and cosy and friendly staff.

Absolutely charming cafe with friendly staff. On a very cold day we popped in for lunch. The choices were amazing with all cakes and quiches etc home made. We had a lovely view of the harbour in our window seat. The decor just added to the whole experience.

Small Cafe located on Harbour front in Macduff - plenty of parking nearby - warm and friendly greeting - good menu choices - went for daily lunch specials - macaroni & chips and Chicken fillets & chips - food looked lovely - all freshly cooked - macaroni was nice and cheesey - great taste - chicken fillets were home made and very easy to eat. Overall, lovely home cooked food and very attentive staff - will come back again.

A lovely, clean cafe overlooking the pretty Macduff harbour, this wee place is a gem of a find! The staff are helpful and friendly, prices are very reasonable, the cake displays are simply mouthwatering, and the cullen skink is one of the best I've ever tasted (and I've tasted a few!). Try it for yourselves!

Small, but spotless with lovely staff.

This cafe was recommended to me by a friend so when we were in Macduff with family who had come to visit us from down South we went there to eat lunch. The staff are really friendly, the menu is extensive, service excellent and their range of tray bakes is amazing. It is clean and there is great parking at the seafront. We are planning repeat visit.

My sister and I went to the Seafront for lunch and could not fault it in any way. Food was excellent and portions huge. Service was brilliant aswell. We will be back that is fir sure.

Drove through MacDuff looking for a spot to have breakfast, found this place in what is otherwise a very dull dock area. We had an excellent Full Breakfast, which was cooked from scratch and was very tasty. The surroundings were very clean and tastefully decorated. Helpful friendly staff and spotless loos. Will definately visit if and when we return to the town.

Had the Cullen Skink - smooth and warming which is just as well the weather outside was a bit damp and wild. The bread served with it was soft and nutty. Staff made us feel welcome. Locals seem to like this establishment, while we were there a number of customers arrived who seemed to be known to the staff and the staff knew them. We say if the locals love it, it'll be fine by us! Will be back to try the home made scones next time.

Have been meaning to try here for a while finally did so last week and wasn't disappointed had main course only of breaded fish and chips. Did not have long to wait and when it came it was very nice with side salad too. The fish did not look very big at first but it really was enough with the chips and salad along with it. Price very reasonable and service very good will be back.

My wife and I stopped by for a cooked breakfast and a 'guid piece' on Friday 7th July. The staff was friendly and told us to choose where we would like to sit. Within minutes our order had been taken. The waitress returned with two pots of tea, decent cups etc while my wife browsed the 'guid pieces'. She eventually came back to the table with a scone.

Raw sausages. Undercooked bacon and black pudding. I've been eating here quite often but noticed that the quality of food goes gradually down.

Weather was terrible so was glad we got a parking spot right at the door when my wife and I stopped here for a light lunch. Excellent place offering a very wide range of great food for lunch, spotlessly clean, very pleasant staff at very agreeable prices. My wife had yellow pea soup and bread and I had the soup and sandwich, the Cullen Skink was one of the best I have ever tasted, all home made. Next time I am near Banff/Macduff lunch will be here.

I'd read about this wee place on facebook and as we were in the area decided to pay a visit! Just had coffees and a scone, but all were really good. The coffee is very good quality, which is not the case in a lot of places.

Great selection of food especially cakes/home bakes! Very reasonable prices and a nice bright clean facility. Recommended!

We had a good stop for coffee and cake whilst cycling this part of the Scottish coast. Macduff is one of a number of pretty, small harbour towns.The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the cake was delicious.

We arrived feeling hungry and grumpy having been turned away by another place nearby. (Too late for lunch - supposedly!) We were greeted by a lovely smiling Shannon as we walked in the door and nothing was too much trouble. Even though we were later than their lunch period, they were happy to serve us soup and paninis. Everything was delicious and we left feeling very impressed with their friendly service and excellent food which was good value. Thank you to all the staff for making our Australian friends feel much more impressed than how they had felt from the earlier incident. Whenever I am this way again, this will definitely be my first port of call.

I've been here a few times as I wanted to give a local place a chance but not again.

Today was the first time my husband and I had visited the seafront and we weren't disappointed. As soon as we walked in we had a very warm greeting, the staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is so warm. Although we only had something small to eat, it was delicious. The prices are very reasonable, the service is second to none and it is well worth a visit, we will most certainly be going back .

Popped in for a coffee and were instantly inspired by the fantastic home baked cakes. Went back the next 2 days for a meal which was excellent. And went one morning for breakfast. All food was freshly prepared, and served by very friendly and cheery staff. I wish I lived closed, I'd be a regular customer.

Lovely breakfast roll for my son & perfect toast for me. Our latte & capaccino were hot, can't remember my bought coffee was still hot when I finished eating; you have proved it's possible and I will return.

Busy wee cafe, with excellent friendly staff . Lunch was lovely, the "Cullen Skink" some of the best we've ever tasted. Very nice selection of cakes and fancy biscuits and great cofffee's too finish off and all reasonably priced, be back soon.

Had a lovely lunch at this friendly cafe on the front. Although they were busy, they soon were able to find us a table. The food was very good and we would highly recommend. It was a 5 minute walk from the aquarium, which was perfect for our visit.

We visited after a turn around the aquarium. First impressions: very friendly welcome, very clean, bright and airy little cafe. Nice simple menu with great options for children and adults, prices seemed very reasonable and the food arrived quickly and freshly prepared. The staff were very nice and made lunch out with a toddler a simple and straightforward affair. I decided to spoil myself with a piece of cake and was rewarded with a huge slice of delicious homemade fudge cake! I would happily pop in again if I was in the area.

En-route to visit friends we decided to pop in past , parking was easy outside and the welcome was a real delight, we were seated by the window watching the world go past and both my sister and I ordered lunch from the daily menu, I ordered the beef steak pie and it was lovely, my sister had the haddock and she was equally pleased with her choice. We both ordered coffee and a home made cake, all in all a lovely cafe with friendly staff, good home made cooking and reasonably priced
