Finlays Fish Bar & Cafe in Aberdeenshire

I had a lite bite haddock supper with mayonnaise. I chose the breaded option for the haddock as I'd never had that before but I did enjoy it and it will be my order of choice from now on. My food was delivered to me as I waited in my car outside. One criticism would be the portion size I received. Yes, I did order the lite bite option but when I got to my destination and sat down to enjoy my meal I was quite surprised at the amount of food within. I would hope for some more chips and a slightly larger piece of fish if having this option again. Next time I'll try a standard supper to see how it compares. My first visit to this well presented chippy.

Best fish & chips homemade curry sauce was good to the owners are very caring nothing is to much trouble very nice people thankyou

We had fish supper takeaway with mayonnaise. Wow, great chippy and they take your food out to your car. Restaurant looks nice. But had a dog, hence takeaway.

Visit every year while staying a Boddam lighthouse. Fish and chips the best in Scotland. Owner friendly and helpful. Will be back.

This place was really busy at just after 5 o'clock on a Saturday, people were coming in groups to buy food. A local football game had just finished, so that probably added to the numbers, but there seemed to be plenty of regulars as well. We ate in the car, the food brought out to us by one of the staff, so we didn't have to wait indoors. They take note of the model and colour of you car and bring the food out when it's ready - seems very efficient. The fish and chips was excellent, good portion size, well cooked. The fish in particular was lovely - the benefits of being really fresh and locally caught and landed ...

Absolutely fantastic place to visit !!! Could not strongly recommend this place more ,the staff were so friendly and took time to talk to us and advise us on places to visit on our holiday, I have never felt more welcomed 😊 ,we will definitely be back !! ( the mackerel is exquisite 👌)

This restaurant has about the finest fish you can find. And the service, especially from the owners, you can't beat anywhere in the world. This is just one of the finest restaurants I have ever been to. And not only was the fish fresh and well prepared, the salad vegetables were very fresh.

We were in Fraserburgh yesterday on a business trip. I had read reviews before we went and we decided to go for lunch. The fish is fresh every morning, there is a sign on the wall with the details of the boat which landed the fish, the restaurant is run by a local family and has been in the family for a long time. The choice of seafood is amazing, we decided on standard fish suppers, peas and homemade tartar sauce accompanied with locally made ginger beer.. The staff are amazing, very attentive, the restaurant & takeaway are sparkling clean. We would recommend 100%.

Popped to Fraserburgh for a few hours on a recent trip, we looked everywhere for a chippy and eventually found this one near the Harbour, what a clean and friendly Fish shop. My partner had Haddock and Chips, I had smoked sausage and chips both cooked perfect, in fact I tried my partners fish and sage to say probably the nicest cooked I and my partner have ever had, top marks

Interesting chip shop with a very quirky menu, had some very new experiences in there which the staff were helpful in explaining to me what they were, you have to pay extra to sit inside which is fine if you don't mind paying a bit extra but can sit outside for free. Staff were friendly and nicely decorated environment. Chips weren't the best and the curry sauce wasn't what i expected but was very unique. The best play was the battered baby bell with the salad, wasnt keen on the white pudding but cannot give a review of that since i haven't tried it before, same with the red pudding, but the black pudding and haggis was great. Overall happy customer.

Absolutely delicious food from here when we popped in for lunch. Fish was really nice and fresh. Batter was just perfect,nice and crisp but not at all greasy. Chips were lovely.

A small diner in Fraserburgh hides good, old-school Scottish manners behind its unassuming facade. From the older, very courteous owner and his lovely wife? Personally served dishes (in our case Haddock and Chips and thereafter homemade cake and icecream) actually deserve more than 5 stars 🌟 I can list: - warm and courteous service - so you can appreciate and enjoy your food - we celebrated it - only the somewhat cold diner-style ambience didn't suit this Scottish old-school gentleman and his team in our opinion Thanks to the team (we hope the 5 pound note went to the right place ;))

We visited here twice during our week's holiday in the area. The first time we had haddock, chips and peas - absolutely delicious, a good portion size, freshly cooked. The second time I had cullen skink, which again was one of the best I've tasted (some make it with more potato than fish, but this was full of delicious fish and I really enjoyed it). The staff were very friendly and courteous both times, and we were made to feel welcome. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Fantastic fish & chips and what a great price. We were disappointed that there were no Fraserburgh Langoustines left, but having had a Jumbo Breaded Haddock and my wife a Standard Battered Haddock it was probably just as well. Super friendly service, will be back next time we are in the Broch!

Hands down one of the best chippies I've been to. Service is spot on, with them actually bringing it out to your car. Highly recommend the jumbo fish supper, & the smoked sausage is crisped really nicely.

Beware! After this restaurant the next fish and chips experiences won't be the same anymore. Because it's so good and fresh, the battered, as well as the breaded haddock with chips and peas, non comparable to some other Chippys we've been on our travels. There will be nights we'll dream about the Findlay's, so thanks for that great lunch.

We got a takeaway, met at the door with a slip of paper with our car details on, even though we parked up the road!! Ordered, went back to the car, food was brought to the car window in less than 10 minutes, and it was very very good!

Disappointingly the chip shop like a lot of others in the area have changed their oil to something very cheap in taste, leaves a terrible after taste and stinks. The food is usually still cooked well but recent special was clearly refried, both over cooked and greasy internally. Finding a competent chippy that is consistent and reliable seems to be a thing of the past.

What a fantastic little place. It was bursting at the seams with locals when we went in (always a good sign). The owner met us at the door and gave us a table. He explained everything was local and fresh as. It certainly was!! We had breaded haddock and langoustines and chips. Just superb!

Best chippy in the area. Food is always piping hot and delicious. Service is great, lovely staff nothing is ever too much trouble. I highly recommend.

If you eat out anywhere in Fraserburgh, this makes a very good choice. The food was so good and fresh and even the standard fish and chips was a very large portion. The staff are lovely and friendly, as others have said. This is a business which has been in the family for generations, and I would say this reflects in the service. Seems like a place that's well loved and popular with the locals. All this gives it a great community feel.

Probably the best food I’ve had in Scotland.

Excellent service, very attentive staff even though it was very busy. Fish was fantastic. Chips too. We managed to share a sticky toffee pudding which we didn't need but couldn't resist, this was delicious too. All in all a great family run restaurant with very fresh fish, they even know which boat the days catch came from.

We Had haddock, langoustines in batter jumbo sausage chips and curry sauce. Curry sauce was more a fruity style without the fruit and was very watery and a red colour. If your preference is fruity then maybe you'll enjoy but i prefer a more chip shop style curry than fruity curry.

Thought I would try this chippy, pass it regular working in the area. Ordered a large breaded fish supper, was given a ticket from who i think was the owner and it was brought to my van. Was easily the best fish supper I have had, fish was fresh and amazing and chips were cooked to perfection. Recommend this chippy (chipper)if your in this area. I will be definitely be back next time up Fraserburgh.

We happened to be in Fraserburgh for the day and noticed that this fish and chip diner was open so we went in not expecting much. How surprised we were! The gentleman who seated us, the waitress who brought our food were so pleasant and helpful; the menu was extensive and best of all.....what we ordered was delicious! All we had was haddock, chips and peas with a slice of bread and butter. The latter was lovely and fresh, the chips were nicely cooked and not as greasy as you often get in chip shops and the fish was delicious. I mean, really fresh, tender and delicious and a good size! Frankly it was the best fish and chips we have had in decades. Beats all the others which have won fancy awards and had their names in the newspapers which we have visited. This place really was above expectations.

I typically don't like fish. this is the first time I've ordered fish and chips in over 20 years which i did on a whim and my god i'm glad I decided to try. these people have their craft down to a science. food arrived very promptly after ordering and was absolutely delicious. It has left me wondering if I did like fish and chips all along but had only ever been served bad ones. If you are visiting the area and are a fan (or aren't) of fish and chips then this place is a great visit

Findlay's Fish Bar & Diner is a "can't miss". Cosy seating with walls covered in local fishing stories, the staff is welcoming and warm. If you have the chance, try the Cullen Skink soup- absolutely out of this world! Great prices, incredibly fresh seafood, and a very personal experience awaits you!

This was a lucky choice of a spot enroute to Aberdeen along the coastal route. We enjoyed the Cullen Skink followed by fish and chips. The food was very fresh and was served with courtesy and pride. Simply delicious!!

First time back in over 3 years - been going since it opened years ago & it is still absolutely fantastic. Great atmosphere & surroundings plus professional friendly staff. Best of all, the standard of all the fish/seafood/other options on the menu. A special shout out about the Cullen Skink - a great treat!!!

Toevallig hier aangekomen. Zag er eenvoudig maar proper uit aan de buitenkant en toen we binnenkwamen werden we ontvangen door een hele vriendelijke meneer. Veel uitleg over het menu. Heerlijke garnalen in beslag met erwten en frietjes gegeten. En nog een dessertje om te delen. Brownie met ijs en toffee saus. En dit alles voor een eerlijke prijs. Moesten wij ooit nog in de buurt zijn komen we zeker terug. Jammer dat het 1.300 km (800 mijl) ver is en er een zee tussen ligt 😳.

Absolutely beautiful fresh fish served in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

I was absolutely delighted to visit here with my mother-in-law. She recommended the place as she has been before and loved it. The man serving us (who I believe was the owner) was all too lovely, and we were well attended. The food was delicious, and I recommend ordering a portion of their homemade onion rings, they're huge and scrumptious. There is a takeaway area as most chip shops have, but it's separate to the dining area so it's not noisy. The toilets are clean and what you should expect from an establishment. They have a special sauce that is mildly spicy and it was delicious. They keep a stock of ice cream tubs from the local ice cream shop which I thought was a nice touch that they support local businesses as a local business themselves. I will definitely return, I've already told many people to go there when they visit Fraserburgh.

After finding recommendations on here, we stopped for lunch. Beautiful, fresh fish and Ian was friendly and informative of places to visit. The place was spotless.

Always get fish and chips here, unless it is shut. Excellent take out meals ans lovely home made sticky Toffee pudding. It is not cheap but worth every penny - treat yourself.

Called in on our way back down to Dunblane. They couldn't be more helpful. We ordered reg fish supper and we're asked what car we were in and where it was parked, then we went back to our car and waited for our order. The gentleman in the shop even told us to go down to the beach to eat them. Fish and chips very good and will go again when we are in the area.

Greeted at the door by Findlay, who showed us to a table and made us feel very welcome. He took genuine interest in us and we had a great chap. Young lad who waited upon us was great; very friendly, efficient, and eager to please....

Went here a few weeks ago while staying in peterhead for a few days, lovely staff, very child friendly and the food was delicious! next time we are up there will definitely come back to try the prawns!

Decided to stop here for lunch while in Fraserburgh for the day. I had the battered langoustines my mum had medium battered haddock which was larger than expected. Great value lovely staff will go back when next in Fraserburgh

Kein Restaurant wie erwartet, einfach eine Imbissbude. Keine alkoholische Getränke. Was auch bei einem guten Essen nicht tragisch wäre. Das Fisch- Nationalgericht (Schellfisch) in GB, + 1x Zitrus - Sole (Seezunge), paniert, gegessen. Die Seezunge war in der Panade kaum zu finden. Die Fisch"menge", minimal! Der Schellfisch "Standard" hielt sich auch in Grenzen, geschmacklich ebenso. Die Pommes, ging so. Das Erbsenpüree hat von allem am besten geschmeckt. Wie + was die Auszeichnung an der Türe "Best Food 2023" **** zu bedeuten hat, ist uns nicht erklärlich! Einfach nur eine Imbissbude.

Like others have said, the quality of the fish and chips was exceptional. The service was great and the diner was clean and tidy. Can't fault the place.

Excellent food and courteous, attentive service, from the moment I entered the restaurant (wet and bedraggled) where I was warmly welcomed, and throughout my meal. I had standard battered haddock, chips and mushy peas, with a pot of tea - £13.90. Toilets immaculate. I recommend Findlays without reservation, top quality!

Myself, and my mate went down on the bikes today (11/6/23) got the best fish suppers and the best service. Chap we spoke with I presume was the owner, couldn’t have been more helpful and wished us well on our journey after. We will be back I promise 😊
