Attending a funeral and just about everything handled well. Only thing I would suggest is when those not going to graveside and waiting in Lounge no Bar was visible so maybe a member of Bar staff could have had quick walk around as most were either elderly or maybe hampered with use of walking sticks etc or those not comfortable going up to a Bar to order and see if anyone wanted anything. More sales and more happy customers....

Well I have been all over this lovely country and now I was in Turriff Aberdeenshire, and at a Lovely B&B and two great Breakfast and two evening meals, I don’t know if Legion members and Veterans know about this treasure, but if you are up anywhere near Turriff please check it out. When I arrived I was met with friendly, helpful and very pleasant staff, all the Staff in this Legion club were very helpful, professional and a joy to know, the food and service were excellent and well managed waitress, the Room and everywhere we went was spotless clean. If I happen to be back up in this area I will definitely book in to this lovely Legion club. To who has anything to do with this Legion Club, thank you. The photos were my starter and main meal I could not eat the sweet, as I was to full.

The food at the Royal British legion never fails to deliver in relation to quality and portions. We eat here as often as we can and the chef and his team really do serve up a first class plate(s) of great food full of flavour. The serving staff are always on hand with a smile and cheery word regardless of the weather, time of day or day of the week. Fantastic, keep it coming!

Typical British legion club with functions on virtually every week. Big dance hall, Poppies Restaurant, accommodation and bars.

Here with a group of approx 60 for a meal the hall was freezing, we had to sit with our jackets on. Meal was lovely and staff friendly.

Fue una sorpresa para mi retraso San Valentín lady bueno. Con mucho en el menú hizo de eglefino, patatas fritas y ensalada, mientras fui para pata de vacuno de carne, patatas y verduras mixtas. Este fue seguido por Banana Split con crema y helado para la esposa, y yo tuvimos pegajosa con helado y budín de Toffee helado, terminando con café negro. La comida estaba cocinada a la perfección, la presentación era excelente, el servicio fue excelente. La factura final fue sin duda una buena relación calidad-precio.

My partner won't go anywhere else for a carvery. You can't beat it for choice of vegetables and quality of the food. You can always rely on a good meal and good service

We loved the informal atmosphere and stayed for three hours drinking eating and talking. The never ending cue for the carvery during that time gave testament to the popularity of the Royal Oak and quality of the food.

Carvery was excellent but as booked for 2 people we were stuck in the middle of 40th Birthday party. We asked to be moved to another table as there appeared to be plenty of room - reluctantly they agreed.

We were there for a family birthday meal, but quite disappointed with our meal, ordered 2 medium /rare steaks and came over cooked, asked for replacements, they came back seared but raw, sent back again to re fire, onion rings were very greasy, we didn't eat our meal in the end as the others we were dining with had finished eating so asked for goody bag to take home. Paid the tab which seemed high to discover that they'd charged us for drinks we hadn't had. spoilt our night out completely, won't recommend or be returning again. Wasn't the only table to complain about their meal that night either.

This is a great venue for Lunch or evening meal with three choices of meats, and 15 vegetable dishes to chose from. Brilliant! I am a regular customer, and have never been let down.

Had a fantastic meal none of us managed to eat it all. Fish was the best I've ever eaten. We were all pleased with everything we had and will be returning again to try out more dishes on their menu. They couldn't do enough for us. Excellent service. Definitely recommend

We had heard several good reviews so decided to try the carvery this Sunday lunchtime. Although only just past 12.00 when we arrived there was a really long queue at the carvery, however, as a result of a really efficient and most polite waiter serving the meat, this soon went down. We had pork and turkey and there was a large selection of vegetables to choose from. ( the cauliflower cheese could have done with being cooked though as it was like raw flourettes with cheese sauce poured over! ) We had a really generous portion of the most tender and flavoursome meat which we could hardly finish on normal sized plates which are a refreshing change at a carvery. We will definitely be back as this was one of the nicest carverys we have been to.

Now a regular venue for us . Never fails to satisfy . The service is second to none . The food is of a very high standard . Large portion sizes and fantastic value for money . Has a very good relaxed atmosphere too. Great for couples to large families . We always reserve a table because it can get busy .

We hav eaten here on numerous occasions and had an excellent carvery everytime, the only down side is that it does get a little over crowded at times which takes away the idea of going out for a nice quiet sunday lunch, also some of the younger staff members could do with having a little more about them as we were left waiting for quite a while not knowing which table we were on. Overall though a lovely place to stop for Sunday lunch.

Execellent choice of vegetables and generous portion of meat. We asked for a fresh turkey as it was near its end and this was no problem for the friendly chef. A thoroughly enjoyable meal

Absolutly fabulous for great value buffet for lunch or diner.<br />The last time we visited it was by luck but this time I pre-booked the previous day before our 100 mile journey.<br /><br />We weren&#039;t let down a superb carvery accompanied by the most fantastic selection of vegetables.

Food tasted very good from the carvery - however the plates were cold and the meal was cold before halfway through. Perhaps a microwave is needed for guests to warm up their meals before this happens or something else needed? Tables also too close together making it difficult to get out if required.

We were looking forward to visiting the Royal Oak as we had not been for a while. It was very busy. We were sitting down for 1pm. The carvery was cold which was a shame and the J20 tasted very funny.

Certainly enjoyed a lovely sunday lunch but was dissppointed that no starters could be had even though soups were clearly being advertised on a board on counter. Didn't enjoy strawberry cheesecake - too sweet. Staff were clearly very busy and the guy carving did an amazing job! Would come again.

not quite up to the mark as the roast potatoes were not crisp and the crackling was also very soft rather than crunchy. Problem with one plate having very long black hair in it which with three of us greys wasn't ours. The meal price was refunded and free puds also provided but would have preferred no hair in the first place.

The Sunday carvery is spot on great value for money every thing cooked to perfection a truly great find well worth a visit

Weve dined their on more than a dozen times always welcoming and superb food tend to use the carvery as we often go as a family and children soon get bored at a meal from a menu so this seems the best option for us if i had a suggestion to improve the experience it would be to install air conditioning

Los coches pueden aparcarse durante dos horas gratis en el parking contiguo Tesco, pero asegúrate de que tienes un ticket de pago y visualización.

The carvery was excellent ,the meat was soft and moist. the only negatives were the Yorkshire pudding was smaller than the likes of Toby and the cauliflower cheese had florets too big to be cooked fully and was hard .The surroundings felt spacious, but in places the tables were too close together ,unlucky if you were in the gangway

this was our 4th visit, sorry to say this was not as good as others, plates only warm and served so quick with meat, i was waiting for customers in front to get their veg so when sat down to eat food was only warm, food and service great but please make sure hot plates and try to watch how many are waiting to get veg,

Been a few times, the carvery just gets better every time .

The food was good but the eating of it was spoilt for two of us as we were sitting in dirty,badly stained seats.(They looked like dried liquid of some sort on the seating area of the two seats. ) I needed to ask to see the manager about this before I could choose the pudding. The manageress gave us two other chairs to sit on. This was the worst experience that I have ever had whilst eating out at any restaurant.

Visited twice now ,had a Sunday carvery and also one in the week Food was excellent,had a starter but probably wont next time ,not because it wasn't very tasty just that the portions where very big . Would recommend to anyone to try as I know who visits would not be disappointed . Lovely place ,great food . 5 stars from me well done!!

I can see that on weekdays with the a la carte menu available the service and ambience would be better. On a Sunday with just the carvery menu available - and a very good and generous one too - the place was packed, the ambient noise very loud, the queues for food and drink long (and getting jumbled together - 'Is this the queue for the bar?' Are you in the queue for the carvery?' heard constantly) and therefore perhaps not ideal for a birthday lunch for two 70 year olds, their daughter and son-in-law and grandaughter. No blame attaches to anyone - as my opening words imply more research or enquiry on my part would have helped - The Royal Oak obviously has a fantastic and successful recipe which their many Sunday customers enjoy. I would go again but only on a quieter weekday with wider food choice but without the world and his wife and the noise! Staff were smiling and pleasant but clearly under pressure. It would be nice if the ticket system so obviously designed to track table usage and prevent fraud/wastage could be used to manage queue length in some way rather than the counter productive effect of causing more people to join as they see how long it already is! I admired the chef/carver manner and temperament - he was charming, cool under pressure and listened and took trouble.

Good food and service. Prices are reasonable. The only thing that spoilt it for us was the awful music! We would return but would try and sit as far as possible away from the speakers.

A good down to earth lunchtime meal served hot and in a clear and tidy dining area where there is sufficient room to eat without being crowded in. Good experience.

We really enjoyed our meal and the staff were great, as 3 of us used walking aids they helped with carrying food for us from the carvery.<br />The only issue we had was the table we were given was a large tall oval table with high bench seating on one side so your legs dangled and you couldn&#039;t get close to the table all the way along. On the other side were normal chairs so the table was uncomfortably high.<br />I know they squeezed us in as it was Father&#039;s Day, but generally anyone who uses that table will definitely be uncomfortable.

Having been advised by many people to try the Royal Oak Carverys,we finally got round to it.Wow,the best Carvery we&#039;ve ever had.Im 18st,a big eater and when Mark cut the meat for my plate I seriously didn&#039;t know how I was ever going to eat it !<br />The staff and whole experience are a pleasure and we go there every week now.Even our adult kids make it the first thing on their list when they visit us.<br />Other venues could learn a lot from these guys,well done.

This was our first visit and we were very impressed with the food and service. The first impression as we came in though was not very good as the first thing you see is tables just in front of the bar area with torn chairs, however the meal was excellent and very good value for money. We shall definitely be calling again. Thank you

Got there at 4:45 and it was quiet, by 5:15 it was starting to fill up, by 6:00 it was over crowded, not alot of room to move, this must show it is a very popular place to eat! The table was to small, difficult to get a cup and saucer and two plates on and it was up against a post so no elbow room. The cauliflower was a little before al dente and, as was the rest of the vegatables, luke warm. The warmest part of the whole meal was the plate, apart from that, it was good, I ate everything on the plate. The staff were lovely, service was great and you certainly get plenty for your money. <br /> I feel that the negative points I have mentioned might put some people off, but I really mean it as constructive criticism. We met up with friends for a carvery and were very proud of the venue we had suggested. They agreed with us what a high standard the food was both in quality and variety. The senior citizen option was an added bonus. Well done to all concerned, we&#039;ll be back...very soon.

We were recommended this carvery by some friends and it fully met our expectation. The atmosphere convivial, the food wholesome, and the staff more than friendly. We would certainly go again.

Delicious meals great choice of properly cooked vegetables and tender meat. Cant fault it. Will be back. Great to have option of senior portions which are more than adequate.

Carvery was really good , with lots of vegetable options. What was a shame was dessert and coffee . <br />Badly presented with no attention to detail , same with the liqueur coffee . When you pay nearly £19 for two desserts and coffee you&#039;d expect at least it to look good and tempting , Sadly not . Will go for the carvery again but would not purchase the rest .

Lovely food, best strawberry cheesecake I&#039;ve ever had and great outdoor area for the kids. Perfect setting for a family meal.

Great carvery - generous portions of meat, cooked to perfection. The largest selection of veg, sides and condiments I have ever seen. Really tasty and gravy is superb. Didn&#039;t try a pudding as we were too full so can&#039;t comment on those.<br />Only downsides were 1) the queue - really slow moving as all the veg is close together. If there was a longer more sparsely populated veg area, things would move quicker. We stood for 20 minutes while only about 10 people were in front of us. The large number of octogenarians didn&#039;t speed up proceedings. Sundays are mega-busy. Maybe a mid-week night return for us.<br />2) the seating area in the &quot;down the steps&quot; section is too closely packed. I got fed up of people bumping my chair on the way passed.

There is not much service needed to run a good carvery, but staff here are enthusiastic and customer-focused and there is a good choice of roast meats on offer.<br /><br />The Royal Oak has established a good reputation for what it offers and gets busy.<br /><br />Overall, a good value-for-money reliable offer which fulfils the needs of anyone looking for a quality roast meal. The choice and quality of vegetables were outstanding and the largest appetite would be satisfied.

Yet another fantastic meal for our lovely family :) 4 adults and 3 children all very well fed with a fantatic carvery! No charge for the youngest (3) who was given a plate of his own so the rest of us could share all his favourite bits with him! Plenty of choice. Hot food. Nice puds. Could do with another vegetarian option. I can&#039;t eat mushroom so couldn&#039;t have the option. Staff were very friendly and cleared tables quickly. Happy staff means happy customers. Was our first visit after accidently finding this place but will be back.
