After a walk along the seafront we spotted you and thought the cafe looked very inviting so popped in. we are so glad we did! We had a lovely brunch, my partner had smoked mackerel on toast with poached egg and I had the prosciutto, asparagus and poached eggs on toast, both were delicious. The Bloody Mary was served just how I like it with myself being able to add as much spice etc as I like. We took some Bakewell tart away with us to eat on the walk back and our only mistake was getting one to share as honestly it was the best one I’ve had, and it was still warm so perfect for this cold weather! service was impeccable, all the staff were friendly and welcoming, seriously we couldn’t fault it and will definitely come again.

The café now opens on a more regular basis when the weather is good. The vegan fish & chips (banana blossom) was the best anywhere but has not been popular. The food, cakes and vegan sausage roll is different to others they are lovely and the messiest to eat ones are very popular. You can visit from West St. Leonards Rail station or cycle from Ore Hastings, Bex Hill the cycle route is lovely and this is a perfect stop off. The bathing hut café is the most calming place, and it hosts other food pop-ups sometimes. I usually bring my own mug, pictured and the toasted sandwich was when Plant the Seed ran a pop-up.

We were recommended this place by a friend who gave it glowing reviews, so we thought we would try it. We ordered a delivery, which took longer than stated, then to our complete and utter disappointment the food was well below the standard expected. The sesame prawn toast was rubbery and very chewy, the duck spring rolls tasted stale, as did the rice. The Szechuan chicken was ok, the sweet and sour chicken had bone and cartilage in it and the person who ate it left the room to be sick, and unfortunately after that did not want to eat anymore; the chicken was also very grainy and had a strange texture and was also very chewy. The duck chow mien was below standard, the duck was overcooked and the noodles were very bland. It all seemed to have been frozen or left over from lunch time, reheated/nuked and delivered to us. All in all, we were very disappointed with the whole experience. It wasn't cheap either, although we did get a free bag of prawn crackers!

Visited Hastings Fish Rolls for a lunchtime snack after hearing so much about this stall in the past (albeit a few years ago when the shop was situated in half up turned fishing boat (RX 40 'The Golden Sovereign’) and former net shop near Maggie’s restaurant on the Stade (but moved when the owners retired and sold the business)). We had a nice fish roll cooked with a selection of white fish (the selection of fish very much depends on what is available from local fisherman on the day). N.B. Hastings Fish Rolls is only open during the summer months and then only for a few days a week (weather and fishing supplies allowing).
