Pissarro's in Hastings

Hadn’t been in here for a few years and we were glad we stopped by for lunch. Great service,great atmosphere and really good food we won’t leave it so long next time

Wow. Very impressive. Simple stuff nailed to perfection. Excellent service. We came here as Mrs F wanted a roast dinner so I chose this based on the strength of Google Reviews. We had 2 roast dinners and the critters chose from the kids menu. Let's start with the kids meals, very impressive, good portion size, excellent value. All to often, pubs and bars offer detritus to kids knowing their opinion doesn't actually matter. So used to having my kids suffer low quality nuggets and paying an extra £4 to upgrade to a carton of drink, not here... Big quality kids dinner, chose any drink. Common sense has been applied, bravo. Now, I'm a deep thinker when it come to roast dinners. If you are a Toby Carvery eater then you'll be forgiven for mistaking quantity for quality. Now here at Pissaro's they're giving a decent sized dinner that you can tell care has gone into. The dinner has that homemade vibe where you're certain nothing just came out of a packet. I had gammon, Mrs F the chicken. Succulent meat, both. Perfectly cooked roast taters with a bit of crunch. Delicious gravy. A wide variety of extras. Service was fantastic. Seemed to be served by a group of close friends running the place. Nothing was a bother for them. Kept asking if everything was fine, not like they cynically do in Nandos, they genuinely cared and wanted you to have a great time. Price with 4 drinks was a refreshing £60. As someone who works in the City, I'm used to being extorted and robbed blind. I've previously paid double for a similar roast and wasn't as good as my experience yesterday. Maybe I'm so jaded with being ripped off and served tripe, that I'm over-praising a grear experience. But I don't think I am. If passing Hastings again, will be back.

Great find whilst spending the day in the town centre. Good ambience with nice background music playing which wasn't to loud. Service was friendly. List a star as ee had to wait a long while for food to be ready. Food was really good quality and tasty. All in the party finished our plates. We made space for dessert, which were also delicious. Good portion sizes. Will visit agsin

Came along for quiz night, decided to have a snack, chose the Bruschetta wow it was the best I’ve ever eaten, service is amazing, always someone available. Always a good atmosphere too.

Had a lovely meal here. Great service and food menu, including vegan and vegetarian options. We had halloumi and couscous salad and butternut squash curry. Both generous portions and delicious. Thank you!

Lovely small restaurant with incredible steak, soup and great selection of wine and dessert. The rooms upstairs are luxuriously appointed, and well maintained. All staff were willing to go the extra mile yo be friendly and accommodating.

My boyfriend took me and my daughter and her friend for dinner here last night. What a lovely experience. Food came out piping hot. Kids loved their mains and demolished their brownie deserts….. we had the fillet steak on the rock steak. Beautiful fluffy hot chunky chips. Fresh salad. Lovely peppercorn sauce. Friendly barman and had a chat and a banter with the chef. I’ve eaten here before and not been dissatisfied at all but last nights food and hospitality was amazing. Going back asap! Thank you!

Music was waytol loud for such a small space

Our second visit today, this time for lunch. Staff super friendly and efficient. I had really tasty pea and mint soup and my son had a delicious wrap (his accompanying chips were amazing). Coffee is spot on and to our surprise free with our meal. All round brilliant place to eat, a real gem.

Great little place, some quirky decor. Unfortunately not much choice of alcohol free beers, only had Bud 0% which they ran out of in the evening. Steak was very nice, well presented & good portion on a hot rock. Peppercorn sauce could have done with some actual peppercorns Good band (Black Rose) were playing

Really great meal! I had never been before the service was great really friendly staff. The food was really great prices and the portion sizes were huge and food was delicious. My only critique was not enough options for dessert, it's quite limited. Would definitely go again

We had a friend's birthday here, I had the fillet steak on the hot rock but forgot to take photos as I couldn't wait to start eating it, the king prawn skewers too, they have a 0% lager on tap too which was a nice surprise, our waiter/waitress for the evening was very attentive, all in all a great evening out!

One of the best pubs in Hastings without a doubt, been here far too many times to count and it has never let me down. Staff are great and nothing ever seems too much trouble. Food is absolutely amazing, as are the drinks and the atmosphere. Have sat and played board games multiple evenings with friends, music nights are always great, as are their other events. Definitely recommend going for the carvery or the steak night!

This place is the gem of hastings. Such friendly and attentive staff nothing is ever too much for them we had a few allergies and the staff and the chef came up with a completely new dish just for us. Would 100% recommend this place to everyone 10/10

Expensive set menu for New Year’s Eve with very little choice, especially when a number of items weren’t available. Rude staff behind the bar, arguing with customers and favouring ‘regular customers’. May not be ‘regular’ but have visited many times before (twice on New Year’s Eve), won’t be again after this experience. We left to go elsewhere and had a much better evening where all of the menu was available and service 10/10.

Booked a table in October for six and paid a deposit for New Years Eve. We checked in on Christmas Eve for a drink and to confirm our table was in the front bar as a band had been booked for NYE; the staff confirmed this and wrote down the table number on the booking record. We arrived on NYE to find our table had been moved to the back of the restaurant after our table had been given to 'regulars' who booked back in September. When we eventually ordered food from the limited menu, there was no risotto and they only had two portions of ribs left. After learning our chosen meals were not available we asked to leave. We got one free drink as consolation and had to pay for the rest of our drinks. Poor management and poor customer service on the managers part. Our waitress was brilliant and handled the situation so well and professionally.

Went here for a New Year’s Eve meal as there was a band on and had been recommend to us. Ordered drinks once seated and that was all ok. However, when ordering our food the very limited menu had a selection of items that had already ran out (it was only 19.30). The set menu was the only one available and was expensive for what was on offer (£35 for 2 courses, calamari and risotto for example of 2 items on the menu, not that the risotto was available). I could hear other people around us also being told there were items unavailable, one table even left before getting their food. In hindsight I wish we had followed suit.

We booked a table for six back in October for New Years Eve and paid a deposit. There was a live band playing on NYE so checked in with the staff/manager on Xmas Eve to make sure we had a table at the front near the band. The staff/manager confirmed and wrote the table number down on the booking records. Another couple we knew who were in Pissaro’s at the time tried to book onto our table. Understandably, the staff said they couldn’t accommodate this. We arrive shortly before 8pm on NYE and waited at the bar for our table. We were told our table was out the back (the furthest away from the band) and that our table had been given away to some ‘regulars’ who booked back in September. After explaining we had come in to confirm our table on Xmas Eve with one of the staff members who was working that night, they pretended they couldn’t remember us. We then reminded them of the other couple who had been in the bar and tried book too…they then remembered. Shock. Reluctantly we accepted the table furthest away from the band. We had a lovely waitress who was very sympathetic to our situation. We ordered a round of drinks and our waitress delivered a message from the manager that we’d get one free drink as consolation. When taking our food order from the limited menu, two of us ordered the risotto. The waitress told us there was no risotto and apologised. We then changed our order to the ribs. Four of our party ordered ribs and two ordered steak. The waitress reappeared shortly after and said they only had two portions of ribs left. This was now the third blunder of the evening so we asked to leave. The waitress was very sympathetic to us and went to get our bill and deposit. The poor waitress came back with our deposit and bill for five of the six drinks, clearly uncomfortable. It would have been more appropriate for the manager to do this and apologise for the mishaps. The manager did not come over to our table to apologise. We received one free drink for all of these mishaps. Poor management. Poor leadership. Poor customer service on the managers part. Waitress was bloody brilliant and should look for employment elsewhere. There are mangers out there that will treat their staff better!

We booked to go for Xmas day dinner & wow how impressed we were. Massive portions, great food, fab service and a lovely atmosphere. Made our Xmas day extra special.

We had a fantastic Christmas Day lunch at Pissarros. We had a group including vegetarians, children and picky eaters and all agreed that dinner was superb. On top of this the service was fantastic every member of the team made us all feel welcomed straight away

A great, friendly bistro bar. The chef is an artist and his skill is clear. A different fish special every week and they're fantastic. Good selection of beer, wine and spirits. Live music every Friday night. And the staff - they make the real difference. 4 years later on and we're still frequenting this great bar. Since I first wrote the review we have had friends stay in the guest rooms above the restaurant and they love the fact it's central. The menu has developed and has a very European feel whilst retaining many British favourites. The monthly quiz is great fun and they now do themed barbeques on holiday weekends. The staff remain - fantastic!

Had a great night at the vegan night. Food was lovely and at a very good price, service was great, seats were comfy - I will be back for the next one!

We want to the venue for the music and drinks. Amazing drinks and the staff were friendly and helpful..The music was very good.the one thing I would change is why not put who is is playing in blocks of 3 months.

Brilliant pub and restaurant that is able to juggle amazing food, party groups, pub and music lounge all in one. The have tables outside to enjoy the sunshine to round it off. I went on a Friday night and was treated to outstanding live music from the band "Sound Syndicate", playing some amazing Indy covers, mixed with Bowie and Weller. Met some wonderful people and spent the night talking 90's music with really good company. Came away with a few friends for another visit perhaps. The staff were all amazing, giving it an excellent atmosphere. Best bit for a social visit was using the attached hotel rooms (Town House Rooms) ...getting to bed made easy!! Cheers.

Went there on a Wednesday evening and enjoyed a jam session lots of blues an jazz definitely worth a visit if that's your kind of music

Booked for dinner and quiz night, the Thai green curry was absolutely out of this world, best meal I’ve had in a long time, from the first to the last bite it was so full of flavour. Always a great night and really lovely staff who are always checking you are ok for drinks etc.

Came in for a roast dinner today and it was delicious, my daughter had the nuggets and chips and said it was so good. I had the banoffee pie for dessert and it was one of the best I’ve eaten. We were waited on by Harrison he was very friendly and happy, a great people person. Phil who was serving the carvery was also very friendly, the portions were big, the cheesy leek and cauliflower cheese were perfect, I could of just had that with the meat. Overall we were very happy with the service the food and the atmosphere of the place, we will be returning. Thankyou for a great meal.

Had a wonderful proper Sunday Roast at Pisarro’s when visiting Hastings. Aurelia and Siroos highly recommended the place and it was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and owner, above and beyond service, and the place was trendy with records on the ceilings and jazz photos on the walls, outdoor seating too. An excellent time at Pisarro’s.

It's a cute place with great service. The food is largely non English. A couple of meals are slightly English, not somewhere to be if you are looking for typical English food. This matches with the restaurants name. However, the writer of this review enjoyed excellent fresh salmon, fresh vegetables, and decent Ale. Patience for kids and kid menus were welcome added value, including corresponding kid prices. The young guys serving were very professional and welcoming. Overall, it was a pleasant lunch.

Lovely roast dinner great service

The four of us had a quiet table for an evening meal 6.30 pm and then the famous Quiz Night at 8 pm where we had booked that evening. I had the wonderful Catallan Paella. It was huge, tasty and a very colourful dish. My wife had the superb Tagine Lamb couscous. For drinks I tried the Budvar Czech beer and a half pint of the Long Man best bitter. My wife had a few glasses of their Pinot Grigio. We had a great time in the Quiz (coming last!) and won a few items in their raffle! Also booked room 2 (Town House Rooms) to stay the evening as we live in Eastbourne. A great nights sleep.

Can't really say much about the pub or food as we never ate or drank in there, so it would be unfair to post. Room wise, small clean but not worth £80, no parking and no food included in the price. Parking was in the multi storey across the road which cost another £13, really would of been better to stay in a Premier.

Went for my girlfriends 21st, staff were really friendly and attentive and the food was incredible. Only downside is we went on a quiet evening as it turns out they do live music so will have to make a trip back at some point. Amazing lunch here today, service was friendly as always and the food was so delicious, I chose the chicken Ceasar salad best I’ve ever eaten. Highly recommend a visit here.

Myself and my partner an old friend here for a meal. We googled it on the night, and decided to go, even though we didn't know the place. Upon entering. The staff were lovely. We ordered 2 rib eye steaks, and a burger. The food was served lovely. The steaks were done to perfection. Our friend is almost blind. But he loved the place. Will definitely go again. :)

Steak Night. I went with it son and we had two, great steaks and were treated exceptionally well all night by attentive staff. Lovely experience and food was fabulous. Steak night pricing is very reasonable.

Avoid the fish pie unless you like slop. When ordered I asked if it came with vegetables and was told it comes with a side salad. It didn’t- just a bowl of slop with very little fish in. Not very friendly service. It’s changed and...

The most remarkable place to eat and drink, with friendly staff and an exceptional menu.

Not the best, beef was chewy, tasteless and "wet" ?? not roasted. Potatoes had been cooked for some time and were cold and hard. The cauliflower cheese tasted faintly of fish and no cheese. Overall, an expensive poor meal.

Popped in for a Calvary and it was beautiful. The atmosphere in the pub is very cosy and warm and the staff are very friendly. I highly recommend coming to this place the food is always good

6 of us had carvery ,which was nice although a bit salty ,lack of vegetables given as 6 of us eating ,and only one plate of selected vegetables came out definitely Not enough for 6,so we had to ask for more ,which is a shame,also they had just run out of stuffing and it was only 2clock and said they didn't have Any more ,so only few of us got any..otherwise, a nice carvery and lovely place.

This place has always had super service standards and accommodating staff. Cannot say the same for the new menu. For us it was an upgrade too far. Meals were just ok I guess we were so disappointed as we were looking forward to the delicious...

I took my team for staff Christmas lunch yesterday. Table was festive, food was amazingly good - recommend the Santa burger & Pork belly. Baked Camembert starter was mouth watering and all deserts delish. But what really stood out was the way the team looked after us. Nothing was too much effort. Excellent service throughout. I hope people continue to support hospitality- these guys went above & beyond. Well done. We will certainly be back both as a group but also individually you’ve gained new customers. My friend and I went for a carvery. The meat that was on display was that very nice. It was beef and dried pork. The potatoes were lukewarm. The cauliflower cheese was disgusting and the veg that they brought out separately with a very nice....

Stayed here for two nights and loved it. On arrival I was made welcome by the staff. Security keypad on the main door. The room was very clean, with tea/coffee making facilities and tv. Separate toilet and shower, both very clean. Every Wednesday live blues jam sessions (well worth seeing). There's a lovely friendly bar downstairs, served by lovely staff. Plenty of areas to sit for drinks or meals, there's even a chill out area. Didn't eat at the restaurant but the food smelt and looked amazing. They have a good range of drinks, snacks at reasonable prices at the bar. There's a smoking area outside. All shops within 5 minutes walk, including bus and train station and less than 10 minutes for the seafront. Again loved this bar/hotel and staff, I would highly recommend 100%

I’ve been here several times and always had good food and service, however tonight I went with a group of 5 friends from work and the food was poor. 3 of us had burgers, 2 were raw in the middle and crispy on the outside...

This was a find. Lovely lively bar and a charming cozy restaurant area. I had booked online, although it hadn't updated to the restaurant so we were seated in the main bar, which was fine but would have preferred the restaurant. Staff are lovely and friendly. We had the steak and wine offer (2 ribeyes, chips, mushroom and vine tomatoes) for £35. No probs upgrading the wine and the steaks were amazingly delicious. We shared a cheese board (do, because its huge). A perfect meal and a great evening. Definitely going again.
