We were at the Drouthy Laird in Inverurie for carvery and it was amazing- gluten free Haggis Bon-Bons to start which were delicious, then carvery where everything was gluten free except skirlie and Yorkshire puddings- the chef was amazing and made gluten free cauliflower cheese specially for me šŸ¤©there was also gluten free sticking toffee pudding but I was too full šŸ„“itā€™s been lovely to feel being gluten free is special, not a problem šŸ˜

The Salutation Hotel in Inverbervie is currently closed and it is unclear whether it will re-open again or not.

We visit regularly for lunch, coffees etc so thought we would try afternoon tea. We had a 2.30 booking. The table was decorated very well and the service was good the food was a bit of a let down. The bread for the sandwiches was delicious but the fillings were just ok. The sweet chutney with the ham was over powering and the chilli cheese again was just a little sickly. The Quiches were all very dry, however the sausage rolls were excellent. The cakes were a mixed bag, the raspberry posset was lovely, the scones were just so dry and overcooked, they didnā€™t really taste home made ( I buy scones regularly there ) the shortbread was overcooked and crisp, the coffee and brown sugar cake was just dense and tasteless, the brownie was very bitter. It was quite a shock as we have coffee and cakes so often there. We will still go back again but it wasnā€™t a great afternoon tea experience I am afraid.
