Pre party meal, service was excellent, food was excellent... But OUR Jason who looked after us the entire night... What a star! Made us howl with laughter.. What a guy! 🌟😂.. Definitely recommend here for food.. Remember to tell him it's your birthday 😉🎉🎂😂

Visited for lunch to celebrate a friend's birthday. Dining area very nice with plenty of space between tables. Service was mixed, with clear experience gaps showing. Had to ask 3 times to have dirty glasses changed which wasn't great. Food was mixed, soup was very heavily peppered and chips were not great but the fish was really tasty.

First time visit we would highly recommend. Carvery the best near and far. The staff welcoming. The amazing Debbie made our visit more special .

Never again. Baked potato raw in the middle, uncooked chips and macaroni which could have been sucked through a straw. 45 minutes waiting time.

Celebrated my birthday in The Drouthy Laird at the weekend with an Afternoon Tea (with prosecco 😀) What a great time with friends, the staff made sure we were all happy and settled then started bringing out the food and fizz! What a lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes.....infact there was so much we boxed some up to take home!! 😀 Once afternoon tea was finished we moved through to the bar where the atmosphere was so good we ended up staying there the whole night! Fab DJ in the small room off the bar where everyone was up dancing to great music! What a brilliant afternoon/night we all had!!! 🥂🍾

Visited The Drouthy Laird last weekend for some food & drinks.. food was amazing - beyond expectations and the restaurant area is beautiful. 10/10 for drinks at the bar area including the friendly service 👌. Had a DJ on at night too so a great day and night had by everyone 😁. Will definitely be back soon, look forward to it already!

Well what a luvley Experience we had in Inverurie, we went up for the weekend to meet friends, we went in to the drouthy laird bar and restaurant on the Friday afternoon for lunch , very friendly place , great food , we went back on the sat afternoon for rugby and more food , with music on the sat night, on the Sunday afternoon we went back for the carvery And a great band , all round we had a fantastic weekend, fantastic food ( I have to mention the prawns in batter and the duck spring rolls , to die for ) will definitely be back at the drouthy laird . Just luvley people , with a very nice vibe .

We had a lovely meal at the Drouthy Laird with our two sons . Love the decor and atmosphere of the lovely upstairs dining room . I am always delighted with my meal in the Drouthy. As someone who doesn't eat gluten I am always well catered for . My boys were delighted with their burgers!

Went to the Drouthy Laird with friends who had not been before. Table booked for 7.30 but it was not ready when we arrived. Waitress was very blasé about it. She took us downstairs to the very noisy bar full of drunk teenagers and a very loud hen party, and gave us all a drink on the house. Eventually got our table half an hour late. It then all became rushed. Waitress asking if we were ready to order before I even had my jacket off! Food was lovely but my husband’s breaded fish was very small. The staff started switching off lights while we were still drinking our coffee. I won’t be rushing back and our friend’s impression of the place wasn’t good. It’s a very busy place so not sure if your custom is valued.

Went to the ‘Drouthy Laird’ for a birthday lunch on a dreich Wednesday. We entered in through the bar & was told that the restaurant was upstairs. My Mum has mobility issues and would have struggled to climb the stairs. However, a quick word with staff/ owner and we were accommodated in a cozy little nook in the bar. Absolutely Amazing service- nothing was too much trouble- great banter and good food. Good time had by all.

EDIT: I've been contacted by the venue and was politely told that there are actually 2 places with the same name in the same building - one a pub, which I've ended up in, and one a restaurant, which has a different entrance. I've looked it up on maps and I couldn't figure out where it was until noticing a sign on the side of the pub pointing towards it. This is entirely insufficient because: 1. The restaurant has the exact same name as the pub with 2 different entrances, which is evidently rare, confusing and unexpected. 2. The pub entrance has "restaurant bar" written over it, and the entrance to the bar says "great food", both of which suggest that's the entrance for the restaurant. 3. There is nothing online when booking or on Maps mentioning there are actually 2 places. 4. The sign for the restaurant is on the left side of the pub entrance so if you are coming from the other side, there's no chance you can see it. And who even stops to read all the signage around the outside of a building, especially when it's dark and rainy? 5. The restaurant entrance looks more like an entrance for deliveries than the entrance for the restaurant so even if we did walk past it, we might have not realised we should go through there. Solutions? A. Make the pub signage not mention food or restaurant and improve the signage to clarify that the restaurant is somewhere else, as well as noting that in the booking system. OR B. Name the restaurant or pub as something else and market them as 2 different businesses. So, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and updated the review to 3 stars, as this still resulted in an unpleasant experience and there are improvements to be made by them. Original comment: We made a booking for Saturday evening here as TripAdvisor recommended it, pictures looked good and so did the menu. When we arrived, it was instantly obvious this is not a restaurant at all, but a very loud sports bar! There was no one to speak to without queueing to speak to a bartender and no table with a reserved sign on it at all so we just gave up and left. We ended up having to find a table on a rainy Saturday night which was a pain but we did end up at BrewDog which surprisingly felt a lot more like a restaurant and less like a pub than this place! If you're looking to have dinner, absolutely avoid this place.

I took my Fit-like Fitness gym clients to the Drouthy Laird for our January meal out. There was a big group of us but they served us so well! Service was very smooth, the atmosphere was so lovely and welcoming and the staff were top notch! There's a reason we keep coming back for our January meal out because they don't fail to deliver on a lovely experience for us all.

Lovely upstairs, beautifully decorated, but no lift for folk with mobility issues, ( no mention of this when booking). Menu ok, style over substance as we discovered. Family Birthday meal, slow , very slow. Obviously lots of new untrained staff( young ) not their fault, we have all been there! Salmon dry, burgher, over cooked. Shame , as such high hopes for this place.

Fantastic dinner out with the family! Service and food was great! Was good to see somewhere so busy. O dear. What can I say? Nothing good I’m afraid. Service abysmally slow. Food mediocre. Turkey came on cold plates, so was only warm, hard tasteless carrots, tasteless sprouts, very little stuffing. Poorly presented. Cranberry sauce came after nearly finished.. coffees came eventually - cold. What a lengthy drawn out occasion & not entirely wowed by staff either. No smiles in sight. Very disappointed.

We had our College 45th year reunion everyone though the room was ideal for our group, Sunday lunch was delicious the meat melted in our mouths great value for money too The service was excellent such a friendly lass & meal was served so well Thank you again

Inside this unassuming building is a bustling business. We went for dinner on a Saturday night and were seated in the upstairs restaurant. The larger room downstairs was hosting an event. The service from the young staff was on point - especially considering how busy the whole place was. Laird himself was serving too - the family are always about and their passion for good food & service obviously filters through the team. The food was lovely. Downstairs the bar was also thriving but this does not affect dining in any way. If you are after good food in Inverurie, The Drouthy won’t disappoint.

Whilst passing through Inverurie on the way home from a family trip, we looked at tripadvisor for recommendations on where to eat. The Drouthy Laird was well recommended, so we chose there. This was a great choice, as the waiting staff were attentive, the service quick snd flawless - and the food was absolutely superb. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food and service received.

The food was excellent and the staff were very polite and attentive. There were several gluten free and veggie options.

Absolute brilliant meal, steak was cooked to perfection! Staff couldn’t have been more attentive, chatty and friendly. Went back later for the music. Atmosphere was bouncing, had a ball! Ty will be back for sure

Having read Trip Advisor reviews we ate here last night on our 53rd wedding anniversary. We weren't disappointed. The restaurant was busy. Always a good sign. We had used their online booking system. We even got a reminder the day before. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Our meals were tasty and nicely presented. Portions were generous and the bill was good value. We're new to Inverurie and haven't eaten out very often. I'm sure we'll be back👍

We met up with old friends at this attractive ex-British Legion building, the food was lovely but the service in the restaurant was quite wonderful. The waitresses were totally charming and helpful. One overheard me (the Englishman) asking my friends if the deep fried Mars Bar was a real thing in Scotland, they confirmed that it was and she joined the conversation to tell me that she had tried it and it was surprising tasty. I asked whether it was available in any local eateries and she said she would find out. Within 10 minutes she arrived at the table with 3 deep fried Mars bars beautifully presented with ice cream. I ate two of them. It was delicious and I would recommend it to anyone not suffering ill health. Thank you to the lovely team at the Drouthy Laird for making this foreigner feel very welcome and going ‘off menu’ to satisfy my curiosity. I think it should be on the menu 😁

Travelling through Inverurie so booked our evening meal here. The place was buzzing -birthday parties, ladies day, etc. However, restaurant was upstairs and far less noisy. Staff were all very friendly. Plenty to choose from the menu - hubby had halluomi which I sampled - lovely. He then had red mullet while I had steak and ale pie - meat was so tender, well seasoned, veg all well cooked. Shared white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake - light and not too sweet. Perfect end to a lovely meal. We will definitely be back!
