Me and my family visited this weekend for birthday celebrations and had a great experience. The food was lovely and well priced matched. As for the staff they were all very friendly and polite and were great at checking on our table when appropriate, especially the young waiter named Finlay. 10/10 service, would come back again.

Unfortunately the Cafe has went downhill in the past few months. Found it hard to get a seat as the tables needed cleared and cleaned. Staff dropping food off to the tables but didn't take clear tables on yhe return journey which if they did, they could've got on top of it. Care was not too busy so the effort could have been made in my opinion. Mens toilet cubicle could not be closed and locked, a simple fix🤷♂️. A shame as the Cafe used to be really good👎

The Rule is great! We came in for drinks and ended up on the Boozy Brunch(£33 for a large brunch dish and 6 cocktails!) deal which is amazing value! Great food-pub grub done really well and Beverly big portions. Cocktails were fab-potent and came with the garnishes you don’t always get on deals like this. Above all the service was outstanding. We were asked frequently if we needed anything, if we needed our next drink and the girls who served us were all fabulous. Friendly and helped with choices too. We were attended by Iona, Rachael and Louise. Thank you girls-you made our girly brunch brilliant!

We went here for a cup of tea as it is dog friendly. That was a big plus. However you can only seem to order via the screen opposite the counter and this was not easy with lots of people milling around. We found seats towards the back and the lighting was poor which was probably just as well as it felt slightly grubby. My husband wanted to use the toilet and said it was filthy and certainly the queue of people waiting to use the one toilet would not have allowed a clean. Overall not somewhere I would return to as a parent of a student.

The Dukes Clubhouse is one of the few places that you can go in town to have coffee or a meal with a cosy welcoming atmosphere, not be made to feel you have overstayed , has genuine friendly staff and an unrivalled view. Being dog friendly with great coffee served hot is a real bonus. Would highly recommend.
