Decided to jump on the bus from Dundee to St Andrew’s on Valentines Day. It was a Friday which meant it was live music night. The bar/restaurant has just had a major refurbishment and we were keen to see how one of our favourite places was looking, we were not disappointed and had a fabulous night, the service, food and atmosphere was first class. Well done to all involved. Special mention to Louise who made our visit perfect by looking out for us as the night got busier.

Got a great deal online with a pre-booked table. Really impressed by the variety on the menu. Was busy when I visited but was well looked after by the staff. Would definitely recommend.

Had a great time at The Rule, Robyn was lovely, and gave us the best recommendations.

We came in for the Scotland vs Italy which we got moved to a good table with the big TV down the back but no sound what do ever... Then the England vds Ireland came on at full volume, come on a Scottish pub not supporting there own national..

Well what can I say. Mr James Willis was an absolute star he tended to my every need, if you know what I mean. If I wanted extra sauce with my sausage he gave it. Unfortunately my puppy had a rather large leak. James was able to lap that mess up right away with a smile on his face. I look forward to his promise after I left him my number. 10/10 service as always. Rated and admired and recommend to friend. Ps. His jenga skill are to be marvelled at.

We had a voucher for boozey brunch at the rule, we booked it on a Sunday. Service was amazing from Alice, we’ve had vouchers for boozey brunch elsewhere and never had as good service. Alice was always checking up on us and making sure we had the six drinks we were allocated. As soon as we finished one drink she was making another for us! Good food but rlly good cocktails!

Came in on Tuesday. It was great to see the refurb finished. The bar looks awesome. I really like the addition of a second bar downstairs. The drinks were great. The barman Corey was really helpful with us; his drinks were great. The staff were as friendly as always. The one thing I would say is it would be incredible if they put a dart board up somewhere that would stop me from going to other bars in town.

The bartender, Iona, was so sweet and caring of us. She deserves “Best Bartender ever” award.

I went recently and the main thing that keeps me coming back is the bartender Iona. She’s amazing and makes the night great, favourite part of my evening. GIVE HER A RAISE!

Robyn, Carly and Rachael had the best service ever!

Came in with my many friends this week and was made room by Robyn. She made some bloody lovely cocktails and even gave us her recommendations on what food we should order. Was such a lovely atmosphere especially with Robyn’s big smile. Was also a great place to bring my black lab Brooklyn. Big big thank you to the rule and the one and only Robyn 🤟

Been to the rule many times and have always had lovely service and atmosphere. We came today for the boozy brunch and had a great time. We loved the cocktails and food, was amazing portion sizes! The staff were attentive but not too much. Iona, Rachel and Louise were standout staff who made the experience so much fun! Overall our girlie brunch was a blast! Thank you girls!

The staff dealt with us very efficiently and effectively, they were so attentive but not overwhelmingly. The Rule is great! We came in for drinks and ended up on the Boozy Brunch(£33 for a large brunch dish and 6 cocktails!) deal which is amazing value! Great food-pub grub done really well and Beverly big portions. Cocktails were fab-potent and came with the garnishes you don’t always get on deals like this. Above all the service was outstanding. We were asked frequently if we needed anything, if we needed our next drink and the girls who served us were all fabulous. Friendly and helped with choices too. We were attended by Iona, Rachael and Louise. Thank you girls-you made our girly brunch brilliant!

We were there on Saturday 27th September. As a family of 11 we had a great time. The 2 guys are brilliant at there job and a asset to the business. So friendly and accommodating, called in a few times while we stayed for the weekend. Keep up your good work.

This bar is ridiculous. The bartenders are on a power trip. My 24y old friend got kicked out for not having ID, but I’ve seen underage kids use drugs in their bathroom.

We went for the boozy brunch and it was brilliant. Drinks, food and service was really good couldn't be faulted. Definitely be back.

My friend stumbled as she was wearing heels and was refused entry after we went in unaware she was left standing outside.James wanna be manager was on 1, power trip. Not great was 20 mins before realised she was missing. Sore feet no where to sit. She was probably most sober out of all of us . Apologies james prefer teenagers to woman over 30.

Cool vibe with older and younger crowd mixing it up. The only place we could find with a pool table. We drank our dinner so we can't recommend the food. The staff had a bit of attitude but we enjoyed ourselves.

Great place to eat. The triple threat burger is great and definitely worth a try.

Decent little student pub. We didn't eat but all the staff were friendly, drinks are reasonably priced and the dogs were welcomed.

Drinks only this time.Always included this on our pub crawl in St andrews. But £5.20 for a pint of tennents and 7 quid something for a bacardi and bottle of coke.!Have a word with yourselves.Wont be back

Had a really nice pizza and a few drinks , unforchantly our remembrance outing was interrupted by a member of the bar Staff who would not accept the official young Scott card from our 19 year old member the group. We dicedied to go onto soft drinks but when we walked past the bar several members of your group heard the Bar staff saying nasty things about us at the bar to fellow bar staff and when caught was embarrassed. Will not be back , didn’t feel welcomed at all and as someone with severe anxiety I felt extremely uncomfortable. Unforchanit experience

My must go to place when i visit St Andrews great cocktails at reasonable prices,always look forward to it,would be 5 stars but on this occasion only one person serving well done to him loved my cocktails.

This was our 4th visit to the rule for dinner. Usually the food is decent, however, paid over £30 for two burgers and chicken for my daughter and it was awful. The portions were tiny and basic and not worth the money. The burgers were rubbery and a handful of hard crispy chips had been thrown on the plates Not sure what’s happened as it used to be nice. We had to clear our own table and move plates and glasses and wipe it down with an antibacterial wipe before our meal was brought out. Won’t be back.

Went to watch the England football, found a good table in the "sports" section. Good TV coverage, every seat could see a TV. My husband had the Triple Threat burger...it came out burnt and severely overcooked, sitting in a puddle of melted cheese. He ate it because he was hungry, but did not enjoy it. I had grilled chicken, which again, came in a puddle of marinara sauce. It was a barbecue based chicken, so these two flavours did not compliment one another. My chickens top layer was dry and rubbery. After removing that, the rest was OK. Super Cold Guiness and lovely crispy fries were the saving grace. The staff were very friendly. The atmosphere was good. England won! It emptied out pretty quick after that. 3.5 stars only.

I have been in St. Andrews for a summer school and I got drinks here on discounted rate. Watched football matches on awesome big screens and had best time with friends on a big night out. Highly recommended!

We organized a group lunch at St Andrews and the team at The Rule were very accommodating with our request and friendly. The atmosphere was good, varied pub food at reasonable prices. A nice pub centrally located in St Andrews. We would consider this place again for any future group gatherings!

My friend was in there and the bouncer wouldn’t even let me wait outside. The bouncers are terrible and they don’t respect women or want them to be safe. Terrible bouncers 13/6 it’s 2024 respect women.

Been coming to the rule my whole life & never had any issues until recently everytime ive been coming I’ve been refused be served from the minute I walked in the pub. Spoken with a number of others who seem to have had the same issue with this member of staff, Tried to resolve this issue with the manager but getting no where. Obviously it’s normal for bar tenders to leap across the table and snatch a glass from your hand.

I’m here every week for Wing Wednesday and it’s always great vibes. Not only that, but they have a wonderful beer garden for sunny days and a great selection of drinks.

I had (and continue to have) a great experience at the Rule this afternoon. They have a great selection of beers and a lovely outdoor beer garden to enjoy the sun and summer weathers! Always a pleasure and will definitely visit again 😊

Great service, popped in one for pint and was made to feel very welcome by the manager. Great wee place with great atmosphere and staff. Awesome beer garden too!

All right if you like your pub rough and ready, tables are never cleared, and if they are they're never cleaned. Sorry not for me. If you want a nice beer garden, go to the Saint.

We stumbled by accident this place . So glad we did . Staff were very pleasant. Had a glance at the menu everything sounded great . I opted for the fish and chips , my husband had the meat feast pizza with slow cooked burnt end . Food arrived soon after and oh my the fish was just fantastic slight crisp and juicy fish also the chips were delightful. The pizza looked amazing just like a proper Italian pizza . My husband said it was one of the best he has had . Two cleaned plates

Came in a month ago and wanted to say how great this place was. Fantastic food and fantastic service. Standout person for us was Omar the manger. We will be back!

We all had such an amazing time at the ABBA boozy brunch today! Louise did such a fantastic job at organising this event. The staff were always making sure our drinks were topped up and very friendly. We will definitely be back for another boozy brunch! Thanks again!
