Parked near by and family needed food. A great place and friendly staff. Bacon roll was delicious and everyone else food was great.. Reasonably priced especially where it's situated...

Loved it in here. Very 70's sense of unis back then when students worked in the student union cafe because their parents and loans didn't fund them to the same extent.

Traveled to Scotland for a golf trip with a friend of mine. Needed a coffee and a bite to eat. Super convenient. Wished they were open earlier than 0830.

Great outdoor seating - staff really rude to another customer in front of us all. Coffee way to bitter/strong for a latte. Chocolate brownie very good. Would go back as need to sit outside with dogs but not a great place.

Had coffee here on a recent visit to St Andrews. Good location and characterful interior. Good value menu. Service was very slow however.

Nice, cloistered building, decent coffee, a nice Belgian biscuit and good value, but the service is rather glacial and lacking in rapport.

On a sunny day, the street side seating was a great little spot to watch the world go by and rest our feet before continuing our City tour. London Fog was good but sweet, latte was fine as well. Both drinks for 4.40

Strolling through St. Andrews on a sunny day we found this nice place and decided to stop for a coffee. Unfortunately, the staff is so busy, they have no time to clean the tables, so you’ll find the spilled sugar of the guests before. No napkins offered. Tasty cakes, though, so this makes 2 points instead of 1 point that it deserves.

Spotted this cute looking cafe on my way to The Scores. Only a few people inside (all ages). Server wasn't the happiest soul. It was sunny so was going to sit outside with a soy latte but changed my mind, got a takeout and sat in the quadrangle behind St Salvator's Chapel instead, which was most pleasant. Have to say the drink was lovely and at £2.20 won't break the bank.

I love the pesto mozzarella panini in here; it's just about the only reason I ever go in. The young students they hire are always very friendly, but the two older women who manage it are absolutely awful. I haven't been back since December 2017, as the last time I went in they were both incredibly rude to me. I also saw one of them sneeze into her hands and not wash up, which has really put me off going back. Sort out your hygiene and management!

A little coffee shop where the names of the past rectors are inscribed, some pictures of them too. An Olde Worlde coffee shop where you can sit in an alcove if you are lucky. Very pleasant atmosphere and good coffee.

The place looked intriguing from the outside that's about it. When we entered I noticed straight away that tables had been left with plates, cups and cutlery. Other tables had not been cleaned down. We were told to take a seat and our order would be brought to us. We ordered a coffee each as there was nothing on display that looked appetising. I had to remove rubbish from a table to sit down. On the table was a tatty dirty menu. Looking around it was evident the place had not seen a duster in months, it looked like it could do with a good scrub! We soon realised why there was only another five people there. The staff, 3 young girls, occupied themselves by gossiping in the back shop. The toilets smelled bad but that could have been attributed to the disgusting toilet brushes that were on show. On trying to leave a large group of customers came in and proceeded to move tables around almost blocking the exit to the steps I needed to take to leave the premises. Place could be a gold mine if it was cleaned and had staff that were at all interested in customer service. Won't be back.

We stopped off for a coffee and loved the surroundings. We sat outside on a nice day and took in some of the scenes of St Andrews' North Street. Good coffees and good selection of lunches available.

This is a lovely little cafe which is perfect for meeting up with friends, or re-charging with a tasty coffee or snack whilst working. It is usually nice and quiet, despite the high-quality food and drink. The building is truly unique and very quirky. It is the perfect place for staff and students alike, as well as for members of the public. The staff are usually very pleasant. The homemade cakes are always very tempting, and difficult to resist. Definitely recommended.

I regularly go here for lunch or between classes for a coffee. There is a good selection of paninis and wraps, the soup is very good. It's located on North Street, so is slightly less busy with tourists, rather it is a student cafe.

My breakfast was hot, fresh and delicious. The selection on the menu was perfect not overwhelming but more than enough choice. I also enjoyed the fresh coffee. I would definatly recommend a breakfast here.

Owned by students, run by students and used by students. (with laptops and headphones) it's not that it's a negative, it's just a bit unusual. The building was also pleasantly unusual, the staff were nice and the coffee good. And for those who were there you missed some of my best jokes. (I didn't notice the headphones until after I started to speak!!)

First time visitor to this lovely coffee shop after many years of holidaying in St Andrews. Excellent location in North St. Staff were really lovely and very attentive. Food arrived very quickly after we ordered. Food quality is really delicious and happily much more affordable than many of the Costas, Starbucks and Prets in the area. Will make a beeline to this lovely place on our next visit.

It was interesting having coffee in a building from the 1500's, and have conversations with college age students. The Old Union is right in the heart of St. Andrews next to the center of the University of St. Andrews.

I was in St.Andrews to take my son at a University Visitors Day and popped into the Old Union Coffee Shop. It's location is wonderful, incorporated into the old University Union building adjacent to the beautiful quadrangles and university grounds. Inside is fairly plain and the names of every St.Andrews Lord Rector are embossed into ceiling beams, like a role call of famous historical figures. I had coffee and a toasted tea cake which were nice. Service was fine without being outstanding. Great location and full of tradition and character.

We got there just before midday for breakfast so they'd ran out of eggs. However the roll 'n' sausage was pretty nice as was the coffee, it would have been nice to have a bit more choice but our fault for going in late morning. It's a lovely old building, very interesting with lots of wee corners to drink your coffee. Typical St Andrews with low windows and ceilings and lots of interesting pictures on the walls. When we go back for a visit we'll make sure we go earlier.

This is called a coffee shop and that is what it is! A good cup of coffee with a selection of food to accompany. The service was good, the premises clean and well presented. There is some fascinating memorabilia on the walls and the list of University rectors makes for interesting reading. Altogether a pleasant experience.

I ducked into the Old Union Coffee Shop for refuge from rain that caught me without my umbrella. This place has plenty of personality and is great for coffee and a pastry at prices that won’t unduly stretch your budget. The Old Union Coffee Shop is located in downtown St. Andrews on the corner of North Street and Butts Wynd. I am not making this up.

Bought a great double espresso and slice of lemon cake as a takeaway option. Always good service and the staff are very friendly. I try to stop here when I can on my way to or from Perth. The Lemon cake was lovely with just the right amount of icing and had a sweet tangy lemon jam in a delicious sponge.
