As January is very quiet and such a long month, I decided to go out solo for a meal and treat myself. I visited The Saint and it was quite quiet which was nice as it meant I could relax. I ordered the soup to start which was Lentil, it came with some soft fresh bread and butter - great tasty starter. Then for the main I had mini mac and cheese and chips, I do wish I’d got the bigger portion as it was very good! But , it made room for dessert. I had the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream, so tasty and a lovely dessert to finish a beautiful meal. The service was also very good, all staff friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Since discovering The Saint , it has become a favourite and I always look forward to the next visit! A lovely January solo visit.

Visited with friends over the festive period. Despite not having a table booked the staff were very welcoming and got us a lovely table in the restaurant area. The place was packed with other diners but service was great as was the food - the highlight of the day was the cullen skink and steak ciabatta. A couple of cocktails to finish off were also very tasty. We all thought the prices were very reasonable and this will be our new go to place when we are next in area.

'Megan', who worked at the entrance, told us that there were no seats available, without any explanation, even though there were many vacant seats, and we were not allowed in. I left the shop and made a reservation on onlinetable within 1 minute and of course we went in. We were excluded like a joke and the manager came and explained the situation. St Andrew's is our first visit. In short, the food is very delicious, the service is very slow, the female manager is smiling and foreigners cannot enter! I wonder?? thanks.

I visited while doing some Christmas shopping in St Andrews. The soup of the day was Butternut Squash which was very tasty and very well presented. There were 3 members of staff serving, Gee, Adele and Steven - all very festive and friendly, nothing was too much, and it was quite busy. For my main I went for the Chicken Burger which was succulent and very tasty. I also had a cup of tea which came with a piece of tablet - a real sweet treat. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and can’t wait to return in the new year. Merry Christmas to all at The Saint.

The Saint was a nice surprise meal overall. The atmosphere was more unique and a step up from the more traditional pubs in town. The menu was a nice mix of options that included modern fare and some traditional Scottish options. The food was excellent. Unfortunately, the service was good initially, but once the restaurant got busy, you could tell they were severely understaffed. That said, the staff was working hard and doing what they could. We skipped dessert and after-dinner drinks due to the delays, and we noticed other patrons walking up to get the manager's attention. Hopefully, they will get this worked out because, overall, it was a good restaurant. We will try them again when we return.

We had to ask several times if our main meals we're ready, we had our small grandson with us who had gotten his main meal when we had our starters so he was getting bored! After the waitress brought our mains all she said was sorry for your 'small wait' our table was booked for 6pm and our mains were not served until well after 7.15 so no I would not class this as a 'small wait' thankyou

The Sunday toast was truly mediocre, the starters were supermarket quality, in particular the beetroot option with lukewarm goats cheese. The burger meat was very chewy and not very well cooked but worst of all was the risotto which tasted like a mixture of porridge, gruel and vegetarian haggis though without any spice- work house Dickens style - actually almost not edible- the beer was warm and it was very expensive 100 pounds for three for very mediocre food.

Called here for Sunday lunch with friends and enjoyed the slightly unusual atmosphere with nooks and crannies everywhere and several different rooms. The service was prompt and efficient and the menu offered a wide (though not extensive) range of options. The food was good although my main course was warm rather than hot. The location at the west end of South Street is central but only really accessible on foot with limited parking some way off. I liked the feel of the place, but I'm not sure that I would choose to make it a regular haunt.

Nice place with a great beer garden, however very limited tables and set up for the amount of space which was frustrating for people wanting to eat food as two people were blocking tables of 4. Food itself was good. Service was poor, staff didn't really seem to care and just wanted you to do everything yourself such as get cutlery, order using a QR code which only showed half the menu etc. This place could be 5* with abit more effort.

Have visited the Saint several times before. However our visit tonight (21/6/24) was very disappointing, Had booked in advance to use a voucher my husband had been given for Father’s Day. We were shown to what I would describe as the worse table in the place. We asked if we could have a different table to be told it was the only table for two available. My husband who is 6’ 2” squeezed himself into the tiny alcove with immovable chairs. We ordered drinks and water then shortly afterwards ordered our food. First course arrived, which was a sharing plate, no side plates supplied, and still no drinks had arrived, so had to attract a servers attention (which wasn’t easy) to ask for our drinks again. While waiting we saw that two people had been to shown to one of the bunquette seats at the window that can seat six. The food when it arrived was good. My husband asked for a second pint, but before it arrived we had finished our food and decided to pay our bill and leave. Whilst we were advised by one of the servers that the restaurant was very busy and they were short staffed this is a management issue and should not impact on the customer. Very very disappointing, and think it will be a long time before we are back.

Just spent £160 on meals this afternoon at the Saint. Unfortunately two of the meals were sub-standard. The fish and chips seemed as though the fish had just been removed from a freezer, battered and deep fried. The batter tasted burnt and the fish looked like it had been steamed and tasted of nothing really. The ceasar salad consisted of dried chicken, a few croutons and one type of lettuce. Due to the fact we were in company no complaint was made at the time, however this establishment will not be seeing our money again.

Sunday 9Jun2024 around 730pm - the kitchen somehow seemed to have "crashed" when the restaurant was overwhelmed with diners. The waiting staff borne the brunt of the complaints, and you can see they were really stressed out. Very unfortunate. The kitchen did somehow "recover" later on that night & our food arrived at about 9pm. The food was nice & we did enjoy it. 👍👍 It will be an extremely busy week for St Andrews with graduations (which the university brought forward by a week or 2), golf competitions, etc. So St. Andrews will be over-maxxed ! The duty manager & staff did coped extremely well under the circumstances. So well done gals & guys.👍👍👍👍 But the higher management should have been much better prepared....

This was quite literally the worst collective service performance I have ever witnessed. Wait staff were clueless, had no sense of urgency (despite a fairly empty restaurant) and we were treated extremely rudely. We were seated for 2 hours and had only been served one drink, not seen any of our food and the management/waitstaff had made up lies about how we had treated them to justify their rudeness. Even as we left after 2 hours (wihtout eating) we tried to pay for the drinks that we had, but they refused for some reason. I expect this establishment won’t be around for much longer….

If you’re looking to spend 2 hours of your evening sitting around in the basement with 2 bottles of water, a mango margarita and a couple of watered down old fashioneds, split amongst 14 people, all while you wait for your meal for over 2 hours, look no further. That - coupled with an exceptional ability to make their guests feel like they’re the scum of the earth, makes this establishment the perfect spot to derail your evening.

Where do I even begin with my recent dining experience at this disastrous restaurant. The service… Waiting for our food felt like waiting for the next ice age to arrive. I'm convinced that the concept of time doesn't exist in this restaurant. I wouldn't be surprised if they were sourcing ingredients from Mars. The staff's attitude was a masterclass in how to make customers feel like they were interrupting the staff's nap time. It was as if we were asking them to perform some Herculean task, like solving a Rubik's Cube blindfolded. I guess asking for a refill on my drink was equivalent to asking them to solve world peace. In conclusion, if you enjoy being treated like an inconvenience and want to experience the slowest service known to mankind, then this place is for you. Just make sure to bring a good book and a lot of patience. Trust me, you'll need both.

Their signature cocktail is one of the best we had during St Andrews Cocktail Week, so much so that we went for it twice. Staff is super friendly and competent and the bar is cozy.

This is a review for the restaurant, not the hotel. The food is tasty but the service is painfully slow. We waited 15 minutes before someone came to take our order. We told them that we were in a bit of a hurry, yet our main dishes arrived only half an hour later. Our starters arrived another 10 minutes after that. They did not offer an apology.

Advice - check the product you want from hot beveridge machine is available before buying refil cups. We bought 2 cups. Only to find hot chocolate wasn't working. (No sign saying it was off). Asked for a refund , young female manager refused and was very rude. She'd rather argue the toss with 2 customers on a busy saturday rather than refund a measly £3. No gon back.

Costa Coffee is a great little stop to make if you are looking for a warm-up or small bite to eat! Their Maple Hazel specialty coffee really hit the spot. Super friendly service! Within walking distance to St. Andrews Cathedral.

I took my friend out to celebrate his 81st birthday. We had great service from Sophie who looked after us very well. We really enjoyed our food and will be back.
